881  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anybody expected this? on: October 24, 2023, 04:57:50 AM
Not that I'm a charting expert or a good technical or fundamental analyst let alone a bear, but I'm really surprised at the spike that's happened, and which is probably continuously happening as of this writing. So far, the price has already hit above $34,000. That's already more than 12% in growth in just 24 hours.

Has anybody somehow expected this kind of thing? Has anybody had at least a tiny clue that something like this would happen? I know Uptobers have been good months, but every huge increase especially a sudden one must have a big reason. I'm not seeing one that could push such growth so fast. I was really caught by surprise. Will a Bitcoin spot ETF be certainly approved soon that insiders have already relayed to their bosses the good news and the accumulation has secretly grown stronger?

The only thing that we can look is Bitcoin's past history as far as October goes. And with that it seems that we are very bullish right now. Specially with the biggest news about the imminent Bitcoin Spot ETF being approved as it was already listed by Nasdaq.

So maybe those who is good at technical analysis might see or not see this kind of bullish movement. And it could really fit on the narrative that at the end of the year, we might see at least $40,000-$50,000. So everything is falling right now as compare to last year wherein we have seen the lowest low around November. But this year it will be very different.
882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - Nov 15 on: October 23, 2023, 12:24:47 PM
Just saw a video about this fight pop up on my Facebook feed, so I thought I'd check our thread here. Let's give it a little bump so it doesn't get lost. This fight is just around the corner, less than a month away, if the date hasn't changed.

Anyone got any new scoop on this fight? Please share the info if you've got it.

So far there is no scoop yet, so this fight is still on schedule unless we hear that it's going to be re-scheduled or worst being cancelled. And with that, the date is still November 15 an yeah, the fight date is getting closer and for fans of Jerwin, this is really a good chance to get another belt.

And I agree, it seems that the Japanese is talking over as far as the number of champions in boxing in the Asian region.

There were years that the Filipino has Manny, Nonito, Donnie Nietes, but they all retired or in case of Nonito, we don't know if he is going to still continue to fight or just hang up his gloves too. And so they need to breed good boxers so that the country will have a lot of champions.

Let's see if Ancajas once again will get the belt and at least have a Filipino with a championship belt before the end of the year.

Ever since I followed boxing during my high school days I thought it was really the Japanese that were dominating the Asian scenes. Thailand is next and then the Philippines at third. If only the Philippine government and business sponsors focused on the sport that they are really world class then it can easily surpass Thailand and rival the Japanese.

But there were times that the Filipino has taken the stage from the Japanese, when at one time they have Pacquiao, Donaire, Hawaiian Punch Villoria or even Nietes and Penalosa. And you won't hear like Japan vs Mexico. It was all Filipinos vs Mexico in the lower weight class and see what nation is the best.

There are 17 divisions in men's boxing and 4 major belts. The Ring Magazine only awards its belts to the very best in a division but if we count it as well that would make it 85 belts. At the moment Japan owns 11 belts compared to the Philippines 2 which comes from Marlon Tapales who's expected to lose it all this year to Inoue.

Meanwhile, Ancajas' main sparmate is unified champion Marlon Tapales which is not bad at all. Although Takuma is much faster than Tapales.

It's obvious that when the best Filipino boxers retire, it's time for other nation to steal the limelight for them. So far, it's the Japanese again in the lower division. So hopefully, Filipino can regain their glory and restore their pride as one of the best country that produces world champion.
883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: October 23, 2023, 11:43:58 AM
Yeah I tried slots with my friends account and it's winning small amount at first then lose streak followed. 😅 Anyways thanks for sharing tips, it will surely help others minimize loses and of course maintain the essence of intertainment instead of taking it seriously.

That's always been the case for slots though, as per my experienced, in the beginning you will see that you are winning. But if you continue to play for a long time, odds will catch up on you and obviously, you are going to enjoy slot games because of the adrenaline rush. However, it's one of the quickest way to lose money in online or even when you go to traditional based casinos.

I still play slots though, but not regularly or how I used to be addicted to them. Sometimes going to max bet for every spin and see how my luck it. So yes, just play for entertainment and just play with the money that you can afford to lose. Because once you are hook to slot games, it's very very hard to quit.
884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 23, 2023, 11:08:49 AM
If Ngannou manages to beat Fury, he will need to do it twice because of a rematch clause.

They have a rematch clause in the contract? That is strange and unusual. Because for the boxing world, Ngannou is nobody. He has big name, fighting record, he is familiar as a vicious knockout artist and people would pay to see him fight. But he zero ranking in boxing. I really doubt that boxing promotions will let their champion fight unranked guy twice. I would even say that boxing association would simply forbid that, because their fight slows down whole division. Their second fight means that other boxers must wait 6-12 months before champion will be ready to do his obligatory title defence.

Although Tyson Fury has denied it, there are news that are floating around that indeed there is a rematch clause. It's understandable though, maybe the camp of Fury just want to make sure that if by small chance they got defeated by Francis here, there will be a second fight and Tyson Fury will be able to get back his belt and obviously the money is still going to be in the table.

But in seems though that everyone is already looking past Ngannou because they've said that a Fury vs Usyk is going to happen next in the Middle East as well. Just a couple more days for this fight. Everything is already set up, and obviously good marketing by the promotional team behind this fight.
885  Other / Meta / Re: Solution to account seller? I think on: October 23, 2023, 10:50:21 AM
~snip~
Currently DT is working hard to identify buying and selling accounts, so I think the existing system is good. Let the forum take care of all this

Do you know what DT is and which DT members are "working hard" on that problem? It used to be possible to buy and sell BTT accounts without any sanctions, then people started getting red tags only if they asked if it was possible to buy a BTT account, and today there are members who sell BTT accounts for months without having a single red tag from DT1 members. I would conclude that the majority simply do not care and do not want to spend their time on such things.

Yes, most likely that is the case now, seen some who still continue to sell accounts and they don't care if they are getting negative tag because it really doesn't have any effect on on them. And for most DT members, just a waste of time for them. And if one account is getting tag, comes 2 or even more accounts popping up to continue to sell.

The only solution is to outright ban account sellers, but as I have said, they will just create more accounts and willing to pay for it. And then continue what they've used to. And as long as there are account buyers, this sellers are going to stay here.

And from what I understand, they have known it already since 2022. And it require some technical know how to be able to pull this one out successful. So far the exploits haven't been seen in the wild.

Obviously, he is not the only developer, so it this has been found out already, a patch can be made. Just a matter of time.

So the future still looks bright for LN, this is just another bump in the road, and just like any other softwares, there could be bugs to be fixed.
888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigeria socialite went all in on this sport bet on: October 22, 2023, 02:27:03 AM
Early hours of today,  one of the Nigeria billionaire business man E money shared his bet slip online for fans to see how much he splashed on the game between Chelsea vs Asernal which already on and Cheslea leading with 1:0, this brought me to the point of asking what your opinion on celebrities staking higher amount and still be ok to publicly show it and do not feel any thing even if the ticket cut just like what happened to Drake last few weeks back.

That is the keyword already, he is a billionaire, so obviously, he just want to let everyone know how much he gamble, but big the bet is and in the end, doesn't matter to him if he wins or lose. What's important as I look at it, is to get across that he has tons of money, in short he wants attention. So this is on contrary on some billionaires, who works very hard and don't gamble at all.

We can't blame them though, I don't know his real story, but it could be a rag to riches, success story of this Nigerian socialite.

And I don't know if his bet won or not, for us gamblers though, there's nothing to envy about it. Again, he wants to flaunt but for casual gamblers, we will not to that even if we have a lot of money.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 22, 2023, 02:00:26 AM
Jack Catterall vs Jorge Linares, no knockdown happen, Jack did his best to score but Linares has avoided that knockout. So it's pretty much a chess game all throughout but Jack is clearly winning on points as his left hand always finds it's target.

So the score is all in favour of Catterall: 117-111, and 116-112.

We were expecting that Josh Taylor will give Catterall his chance for a rematch as a domestic rival. But we all know that Taylor chooses to fight Teo Lopez and he was dominated and lost his belt. So there's no more hype of a Catterall and Taylor rematch.

Here are the highlight of the fight, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDt17FsjfW4
890  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Error or scam with Bitcoin ETF news? on: October 22, 2023, 01:35:35 AM
And it's going to be very interesting of someone for Cointelegraph makes a trade out of this news and then makes a lot of money? It's hard to proved though, but if there is one, then obviously this is what we call manipulation at the highest.

But I don't think that someone can be proven guilty and then sent to jail.

Another example though how the state of crypto journalism, this so called crypto outlets, they themselves doesn't have even access or someone rouge inside has accessed to their official account. It means that their security is also poor.

In any case this is what their Post Mortem report says:

891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hal Finney was not Satosi Nakamoto on: October 22, 2023, 01:15:36 AM
I think Loop puts effort in proving that Hal Finney is indeed not Satoshi. But how many of us here believed though that Finney=Satoshi? From the very beginning, I doubt that Hal is Satoshi. He might be just one of those individuals who really see what Bitcoin can really do and as a developer he has to interact with Satoshi, mined Bitcoin and other contributions he had did in the past.

And most likely this article will be added to the annals of Bitcoin history.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Flash Bitcoins r not a threat? on: October 21, 2023, 11:00:07 AM
I heard flash bitcoins (Fake bitcoins) are circulating.
They disappear after 90 days.

Now if these do exist, crypto market will crash!

Anyone see this as a threat?
Everyone denying?

Should I Short BTC on the long run?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks Wink

There's no such thing as a chain of disappearing transactions in BTC. And it you heard something about it, most likely it's a scam.

Although there is a good discussion about a Fake walle.dat can trick bitcoin core client?.

So to answer the question is it a threat? No.

The best advise is that continue to accumulate we are getting to the block halving, and next year could be the start of a massive bull run. Better be ready.
893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Stevenson vs De Los Santos - Nov 16 on: October 21, 2023, 10:24:11 AM
I might be seeing another Crawford vs Spence fight. Shakur likes to play like Crawford, while for me De los Santos fights like Spence. So it's a copy fight and we all know how it ended. De los Santos is a good boxer with power, but Shakur will figure it out how to beat him, and uses his boxing IQ. So maybe it's going to be +7.5 rounds, with Shakur winning by KO/TKO. But still though, this is a great fight and we will see Shakurs skills and technique.

This is a different kind of fight – a champion versus a non-champion. That bout between Spence and Crawford was an undisputed fight, while in this case, Shakur isn't facing a world champion. So, I'm not setting my expectations too high for this one. It seems like it could be more of a tune-up fight for Shakur.

Maybe a little similar in the way that De Los Santos has to be the aggressor here and try hard to land his big shots on Shakur. Shakur is the one to use his footwork to stay away from engaging and use his skills to hit and not get hit.

Yes, it could be that scenario that Edwin will try to go and make Shakur not comfortable in the becoming. So he could be the aggressor and try to test how good Shakur are, specially avoiding that power of De Los Santos early. Or if he is hit, then how he will react, he has proven his chin so far, but we are now sure if the power of a natural 135 lbs can have a effect of him.

But in terms of experience, Shakur might be fighting only the 2nd time in this division but the experience difference is just too wide. Shakur is a silver medalist in the Olympics, a 2 division champion, a 1-time lineal champ, and a unified champion. While he is a regular 135 fighter, this is the first time De Los Santos is fighting a 12-round event let alone his first championship fight.

No doubt about it, in terms of experience, Shakur has the advantage as he faces a lot of great boxers as well in the past. And the weight though, it seems that he is very comfortable now at 135 lbs, no more weight training and I think it will have a positive effect on him.

And with that, I'm expecting a great win by Shakur to cemented his position as the best 135 lbs, next to Devin Haney, on the strength that Haney is the undisputed champion at this weight class.
894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 21, 2023, 10:10:29 AM
Tsitsipas v Hanfmann
Tsitsipas has been out of form for a while and he stopped the bad run with a win against Van De Zandschlup. Today he has a more serious match against Hanfmann. Hanfmann played a long 3-set match against Thiem and this is in Tsitsipas' favor. Still, Tsitsipas is not very confident this season and even if he wins, it could be a long match.
He is a great player but seems to have difficulty showing his greatness so some tournaments can only last a few rounds, if he can win and get to the final and can be champion it is actually normal because he also did it at the ATP 250 Los Cabos and it looks like it will be a second title for this year.
Tsitsipas has changed his coach several times and recently he has done it again while still having his father as one of his team. We will see whether the change in coach will make a difference to his career, as well as Holger Rune who is no longer with Patrick Mouratoglou and now he has appointed Boris Becker as the coach because he was quite disappointed with the results he got this year.
Boris Becker has quite a tough task because at the end of October, there will be the Paris Masters where Rune is the defending champion. If he hasn't found his best form, the title will be lost and many young players will have difficulty defending the title.

Yeah, and it seems that Tsitsipas won against Hanfmann,

https://twitter.com/atptour/status/1715436948876153211

I haven't follow my tennis for months now, however, there could be some members here who knows that I'm a big fan of Tsitsipas way before he really had a break out performance like years ago. However, I will have to agree as a big fan of his that he hasn't reach his full potential, or maybe did peak already and now he can't pass that stage to become great as there are players that have over took him recently.

He could still be in the hunt at year's end bid to return to the Nitto ATP Finals.
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 21, 2023, 09:21:09 AM
The best advice for gambling responsibly is to develop good habits. Many gamblers forget that gambling should be for enjoyment. When you gamble, it's important to know when to stop, keep track of your bets and losses. I've witnessed situations where people lose a significant amount of money but refuse to quit and keep playing. Is this bravery or foolishness? In the end, they tarnish the reputation of responsible gamblers. If you choose to gamble, do it responsibly.

To a certain extent yeah, just gamble and have some fun. But just imagine this, if you go to land base casino for example, you see a lot of gamblers playing slots of card games, what do you think is the percentage of them playing and just want to be entertained? Right, majority of them wanted to go and win some money too and just just losing every time just for the sake of having some fun of whatnot. I don't believed that if you continue to lost some money, specially big ones, that you are happy and not be affected mentally by the money that you are losing. I'm just calling it how I see it, this is not an attack or something who says that "they go for it just for entertainment". The only way to stop gambling is to not really stepping on a land based casinos or try playing online. Because sooner or later you are going to be hooked on, admit it or not.
896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: October 19, 2023, 02:36:25 AM
The fact that gambling is involved, I don’t think he can be trusted when it comes to money matters. Although it’s okay if he will really use the money for good purposes, but when it comes to gambling using borrowed money, then never expect that he will still be able to repay you or even pay a portion of it.

However, I have never experienced financing a gambler ever since. And if it’s going to happen in the future, for sure I will never ride with it. I am a regular gambler so I know eventually the winning rate vs the losing rate. And most of the time, gamblers often lose so while the house is always the winner.

I definitely think that when it comes to gambling and lending money we shouldn't trust our friend who asks us to finance them because even if this person is our very close friend, we don't know or cannot predict whether they will be able to repay their debt if they loses that money. If this person is going to cover his/her personal expenses in exchange for borrowed money they will most likely pay the debt at as soon as possible but there is no guarantee that they will pay back if they loses money in gambling.

Exactly, even if it is a friend of ours though, we shouldn't trust anyone if we speak about finance and money. I will tell you a story about a big whale that I know if a land based casinos here. He is so trustful, if there is a word for that. I mean since he has a lot of money, he would simply trust anyone to hold that money for him. And there was this news that he entrusted someone, maybe he was a friend or very close to him. To withdraw his winning inside the land base casino. It was a huge amount of money. Unfortunately, the supposedly person withdraw that but didn't give the money to the whale and disappear. Now he is being hunted and there were appropriate court cases against that guy. Moral lesson is that trust is very subjective, and as far as money goes, everyone is tempted.
897  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 18, 2023, 09:49:59 AM
In other words, from time to time we will analyze our position and our assets and we might even start to determine that we can change our strategy because we have accumulated enough BTC... whether that happens in 1-2 years or maybe it takes 15 years to 20 years, this will vary from person to person regarding how long it might take for the person to start to consider that s/he has enough and s/he can transition from accumulation stage to maintenance stage. and sure maybe the transition will not be 100% clear because even if someone is in maintenance stage they still might accumulate BTC from time to time, but not be so concerned about accumulation because overall such person has determined that s/he has gotten enough bitcoin.
Am being inquisitive right now. So your saying that there might be a time when one feels he has accumulated enough bitcoin and would decide to only maintain the Bitcoin  he has accumulated. I am aware of people saying that accumulating Bitcoin has been an obsession to them irrespective of the amount of Bitcoin they have they still accumulate as much of it as possible since they have the money to put it in. Assuming someone is obsessed is it something that is wrong or it is good especially in this present time?
If only I could Pm so you teach me your ways  Smiley

Others might have a certain target though, let's say 1 BTC as this is what everyone is aiming to be a member of 1 BTC club. And for starter this is going to be very hard to accomplished, but for those who have been doing it for years, thru DCA and whatever strategy suit them, they could have been saving more than that. If you are interested, you can see it here:

https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html

So you can see where you at right now as far as accumulating BTC. And I will agree that it's a never ending quest to acquire it. We might be selling at some point, but for sure you will want to get it back as soon as you can. I wouldn't say it's an obsession though, you still have to look at it as an asset that you will have to make some profits later.
898  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 18, 2023, 03:06:17 AM
When I first got into bitcoin, I was actually buying every week with my set budget and also trying to find dips within the week in order to maximize my BTC buys for each of the weeks within my set budget for each of the weeks, but most people are not that passionate, and they might well be better off by not being passionate, and just exercising "set it and forget it" so after a year or two, they look at their investment rather than watching it every week like I had been doing and maybe many of the active forum members are willing to do... but normies do not necessarily want to be very active in terms of their BTC investment and that is one of the reasons why DCA can be so powerful for normies who do not want to study or watch their investment with any kind of particularity.
Actually this was the same kind of buying strategy or rather method by brother normally use for accumulation of Bitcoin, what he does was that he will have a targeted amount of Bitcoin to be accumulated within a month and with the strategy of watching the market all the time to buy from any little dip he sees so that's the kind of strategy he normally use, according to him he said the method allows him to minimize the amount of money used in accumulating Bitcoin.

It will really work, you can have to find the grind to do it every week or even every month. But for those who doesn't have that patience, they might as well implore the strategy of buying in just one lump sum, and just leave it in their wallet, forget about it and just comeback when we are in the bull run. So it really depends on each individual. But relatively, I will also used the DCA method, I mean I have been using ever since and it has work perfectly, at least in my case and most likely those old timers here (as opposed to JayJuanGee term of normies).

What I understand from this method is that it has to do with a lot of patient and consistently watching the market in other to have a good entry,  so is very stressful method and I can't imagine myself using that strategy but however irrespective of the little advantage it may have but it can never be compared with DCA method, because it allows you to set a target and hit it without considering the price movement.

True, but once you get over it (my secret is that I look for the long term goal), it's going to be easy and smooth ride and then after a year or two it will be just like regular, clockwork for you to invest and do DCA without you feeling as if it is being force on you. Of course, there will be weeks that you might not able to buy because of some contraints, but still you can go back and start all over again and continue where you left behind.

It's a huge accusation.
Regis Prograis Says Devin Haney Paid To Remove Loss On His Record
Quote
Regis Prograis says he heard that Devin Haney paid to have a loss removed from his record earlier in his career when he was fighting in Mexico. Fans on social media don’t want to believe that their lionheart, Haney, paid to erase a loss, but that could be an example of people putting their heads in the sand to ignore the unpleasant truth.
https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/10/regis-prograis-says-devin-haney-paid-to-remove-loss-on-his-record/
For now, it's a gossip. He "heard" it.
I've read that having 0 loss is a good thing because of the money that will come in. But if fans of Devin Haney do love him then it should not change anything. Although it may put a crack on his reputation if proven true. Whoever is handling the records must also be sued if he is really taking money from boxers who like to keep their record clean.
Quote
Having an unbeaten record in this era is important because it likely means more money, and it helps a fighter’s career. Once they get a loss, they’re looked at differently by fans. Canelo Alvarez is an exception, but he’s someone with a massive following.
That might be true. Ryan Garcia is a good example of it. Suddenly the hype about him is gone and I don't think whoever he challenges will accept a contract where Garcia will take a bigger portion of it after his loss against Davis, and worse a KO liver punch.
I think Manny Pacquiao in his era is also an exception because he may have lost a lot of fights but because of the record that he broke he should be paid more than other boxers.
This kind of things just depends on how popular the boxer is, for starters though a loss will hurt their slice of the cake.

Yes, I read this accusations by Regis. But Haney says that the insinuation came from the camp of Rolly Romero (another 140 lbs champion). But then again this is just a rumor and nothing can be proven here. There's even speculation that Canelo also go this route early in his career as he suffer a lot but then we don't see it in his records.

I'm not sure about unbeaten records though, Loma for once have a questionable L in the beginning of his career. But he bounce back and become a champion and one of the best. But even after a lost against Teo Lopez, he bounce back again. The problem with Ryan is mental though, we all know that he has the potential to be a great champion, however, it seems that he is more on a social media type guy and wanted to take advantage of his popularity and just looking for bigger purse. He will have his comeback fight though, so we will see what's next for him at 140 lbs.
900  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: US SEC does not plan to appeal court decision on Grayscale bitcoin ETF on: October 18, 2023, 01:29:29 AM
I heard they're trying to launch an appeal against Grayscale? Or was it against the Ripple Labs verdict?

I think it was the case against Ripple, here's the official documents: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.551082/gov.uscourts.nysd.551082.915.0.pdf

Whichever one it was, it just shows how spineless the SEC is when they get served a decision that they do not like. Now on the crypto side of things, how long do you guys thing it will take for the Grayscale Bitcoin ETFs to hit the market? A few months? A year? Maybe two years?

The pressure is now on the side of SEC, not just legal but perhaps political pressure. We have seen him in Congress already and majority of the Congressman is not on the side of Gensler. So if everything goes on schedule maybe next year we might see the long awaited Bitcoin ETF because SEC doesn't have a choice.
