The performance of the Sweden national football squad were quite horrible as they have lost a lot of games in major tournament. They had somehow only managed to win most of their previous games in friendly matches against other teams, I think playing against Azerbaijan today might be a good chance for Sweden players to regain some confidence as it should not be a tough task for Sweden to claim a victory against Azerbaijan at the end of the match.

Yeah, think I made quite a bit predicting their downfall and today the odds for them really appeal to me. As long as I get these kinds of odds with Central Asian teams, I always think it's worth it.

It's not even about team news, it's just the form and value. 1 in 8 times only to win, that has to be an underestimation of Azeri football... or an overestimation of Swedish football.

10 mins to go before I can claim my win =)

So they had these memories of Bitcoin and thought this was the best way to celebrate or honour those memories?

Sait it before, I have no problems with people using Bitcoin for whatever they want, if the rules allow, but I guess I struggle to understand how they were inspired by Bitcoin's early experiments to result in this.

Guess that's why I'll always be a normie.

Good to know freebets taken care of -- don't forget to share. Hhampuz takes credit for that really, I'm just the messenger Wink

I'll put up MD5 forms next Tuesday. It's already possible now but maybe odds are a little closer to final numbers if I give books a little time to adjust -- have a feeling internationals (injuries really) will have some small impact.

Napoli vs Real at little over 4/1 doesn't feel right to me. No Bellingham on one side isn't as bad as no Osimhen on the other?

Just found this now: https://swissramble.substack.com/p/european-wages-202122

Latest wage reports of the big leagues. Not really shocking, the biggest wages belong to United (I honestly expected City) but Liverpool aren't far behind, though it has to be said we signed lucrative contracts to keep Salah after paying out of the nose for VVD... it was a domino effect. It also doesn't count transfer costs so should note we got players mostly cheap, but ended up paying more to keep them (preferable to bombing on expensive players I guess).

I like the caps in American sports, I do wish there were more control in EPL. Thankfully, football is such a weird sport the highest wage spenders can still miss out on the big prizes.

Respect for Brentford. Killing it with 20% of the wages we pay.
886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: November 15, 2023, 02:46:12 PM
I just checked the answers from buwaytress and me. Thankfully we have the same answer for the cricket question because I have no idea about the rules of that sport. The only thing I do know about cricket is that it's very popular sport in India.

And now the tennis question... We have almost the same answer. The only difference is that I chose Sinner and buwaytress chose Ruud to advance to the semi finals. But now that I checked the tournament, I don't see Ruud playing. Buwaytress, what's up with that? Now I just need Sinner to advance to the semi finals to get that point. And with two straight wins, he is on a good path to secure me a point Grin

Cricket easy, I chose the tourney favourites. No idea either, so picking the top 2 outrights favs (they have been since the start) was a no-brainer.

Tennis... my mistake. I meant to enter Rune =( Now I just need Sinner to lose next games but you certainly have the upper hand here. I guess this season I'm giving free passes out. Enjoy Wink

How many chances should DireWolfM14 actually get?

As Trofo said, he got kicked out already a while ago. I remember, just can't find the post.
887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Angry at the high fees? That's what everyone predicted the future will be like! on: November 15, 2023, 12:25:24 PM
Still think the benefit of sending something over such a secure network is well worth the cost. Was hardly ever my issue anyway, LN or my debit card should cover my pizza spends...

The question, how do you load your LN wallet? And how much money sent to your LN wallet at a time?
Do you think it makes sense, sending $200 and paying $50 in fees?

LN does not solve the problem of super high fees on mainnet. It can facilitate commerce, by having lower fees and faster transactions. But the movement of money between layer 1 and layer 2 continues to have high fees. And in this sense, it continues to be of little interest for the true use of the network.

I don't =) Like I said, LN or debit card, and debit card is now how I pay for food buys. It was expensive even in normal times on chain (because the processor*cough*Bitpay*cough forces you to overkill on network fees). I've simply stopped using Bitcoin for those buys. Hasn't changed other deposit/sending habits, so I don't see that "true" use being harmed.

There's also the time, convenience, KYC, cost factored. The certainty of sending. These true nature things don't change. Just in September, a client asked for a bank transfer instead of crypto. One off. The transaction went through on my end, not on hers. Two weeks of confusion, calls, wondering where the hell the money went, finally to conclude a clerk in her branch rejected the amount because of wrong spelling of currency. This is 2023, but I wasn't shocked. I have 15 years of remote and distance work across multiple countries to know how difficult it can be to transmit money!

Bitcoin's true nature in a nutshell: if we follow the rules, I send something to you, I say exactly how much you get, I say exactly the fees I pay, you know exactly how much you get, you know for certain you'll get it, you know no one else will, you know it will never be revoked. People don't understand how precious this certainty and finality of settlement is... until you live and work all over the world (and have a not-so-desirable passport).

I'd happily pay these onchain settlement fees if I needed to maintain a node though, if most businesses knew the cost comparison with regular processor and all traffic uses Bitcoin, they'd move too.

But you guys talk about the same thing, you say that the only annoying thing is the relation between the sats paid in fees and the size of the tx, but being angry about paying
- 1 mbtc for 2 mbtc
is no different than saying
- $40 for a $80  transfer

It makes a difference to talk about percentage, not raw cost.

So yes, I'm not angry paying 1 mbtc for 100 mbtc, or $37 for $3700 (let's put it like that). Because to send the same $3700 with PayPal costs me 4% fees + bad rate. A bank costs me a flat fee but very poor rate. A remittance costs me 1.5% at great rate.

So to make my point clear, it's not the dollar value, but the percentage cost.

Besides I really doubt too many would know to say in a split second if paying 17295 satoshi for a transaction for example is expensive or not without doing the math in $.

Actually, when people complain about the cost, they usually convert the fee amount to dollar, precisely why they then conclude expensive or not. But it's not meaningful without comparing percentage cost.

I agree it's expensive now to do small purchases/sends. I now keep mt spends to debit card. But my regular remittances/big purchases/deposits still far cheaper with BTC.

Ah I got it too, sorry about misunderstanding Omifikuse's situation -- or did I deliberately suss it out so that our poor sheriff can catch up? You're welcome, Igebotz.

Tsitsi's just gone done Rune a favour and counted himself out of the semis, in case anyone had lingering hopes there. Would have VAR'd snooker had I read it but guess I got saved there.

Kinda too complicated. There is a middle ground there, if we make it too hardcore it will deter a lot of people.
I'm mostly leaning towards the 'show your bets' system, in which we all start with 'x' of mBTC (let's say 20 for the season) and the guy with the most at the end wins the prize.

All you have to do is attach your betslip with the odds. You can play ML, players to score or betbuilders - whatever you want. But there's a finite personal stake to it - so you can't go YOLO every round to catch up if you've started badly.

Haha complicated for the organiser but the player actually ends up submitting points over a form in 30 seconds (the additional research not required but clearly, rewarding). Multipliers are hidden for that spice. Once more, I think that's where the expertise/skill comes in.

Pure odds-based has that random degen element. Guy could still place 200 bets with 20mbtc and hopes he hits one 1000x. He'd be lucky and win it without much skill.

I like your idea too, something similar was done on forum before but without a bankroll, which should have attracted more participants but didn't (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5323922.0). I like to think 15 ppl committing 20 mbtc is easy on a forum supposedly with 100s of gamblers but the reality is people here are hard to figure out =D

Someone should really try this. Pitch it =)
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Angry at the high fees? That's what everyone predicted the future will be like! on: November 14, 2023, 04:01:33 PM
Got to agree with OP in a certain way, though I think personally it's less the dollar cost of the fee (although this will for a long time be the focus) but the percentage of the tx amount. So yes, miners will need the fees incentive but if the sat cost becomes too high, it makes it less interesting for me.

To be as objective as possible, me paying 1 mbtc in fees only becomes worthwhile for a 0.1 BTC send. Right now, I'm actually okay with the the 10k sat fee to pay for a 3 input spend of 10 mbtc. But I can imagine it's annoying to spend 1 mbtc for a couple of pizzas now without LN.

Still think the benefit of sending something over such a secure network is well worth the cost. Was hardly ever my issue anyway, LN or my debit card should cover my pizza spends...

Hello on Page 1001! Some kind of special credit that you guys have not only reached quantitative measures but qualitative ones as well. You got the numbers backing your presence and longevity, but the Sportsbet name also has a certain standard of trust on this forum. Some things you just can't buy; that's a testament to the investment (especially of time) you guys have made on this forum.

My favourite forum memory with Sportsbet is one of my earliest. Hard to beat winning a forum contest, getting flown to Doha for the CWC final, meeting SB top dogs super super passionate about crypto. After (lots of) liquid refreshment, heading to the stadium, shouting hoarse over a crazy noisy night wearing Liverpool shirt in the middle of tens of thousands of rowdy Flamengo fans (I was half-afraid to cheer tbh!), and then celebrating the cup late into the night walking in that sea of disappointed Brazilians.

It wasn't even just the football atmosphere, but that Sportsbet's owners actually came down to chow down kebabs and beer on the streets with a complete normie, just because of their passion for bitcointalk and crypto. And then getting to meet Steve all over again later on, meeting up with forum friends? Cherry on top.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Differences between Mixer and BTC->XMR-> ? on: November 13, 2023, 08:43:34 PM
XMR allows you to use more privacy features. Mind you, some of the built-in features can be used with Bitcoin (TOR connection for one, single address use is another). But it won't particularly help just to swap at an exchange and let it sit in your wallet. Particularly if that exchange knows who you are, won't be too hard to make the connection to your original coins.

Do as hugeblack says. Use a DEX, learn to P2P. But employ additional measures to enhance your privacy. Monero alone, even mixers alone, or any tool for that matter, and used improperly, gives you a false sense of sufficiency.
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Qualifiers on: November 13, 2023, 07:24:59 PM
^Ajax is a talent factory. They've relied on producing and grooming talent to sell on and make profits while being just good enough to win a historically less competitive league to qualify for UCL, which brings in further revenues.

They'll always be attractive for young players because of that route -- their problems now are club management and scandal, and eventually not having enough good players to keep making the difference. And I said two seasons ago that they actually need to rethink their strategy. You need to retain players and cultivate a little more instead of churning them out, particularly now that their league competitors are getting much better.

P.S. Yes, yes, I'm trying to get over Liverpool. But better to purge the bad results at group stage with second stringers.

Omifikuse missing the round yet still winning the freebet? If there ever were a reason to enter your pick every time, late or not, this is it. Well done, winners!

So, slackovic, ready to meet my team of mismatched players? I'm 50-50 on Alcaraz, who just lost unexpectedly. That guy is an amazing player but with a fraction of Ruud's consistency, but I'm inclined to trust in him.

I need to apologise here -- I swear I drafted out and even posted the winners of Matchday 4 freebets but apparently, I somehow skipped that part until a reminder came. Heh heh.

I'm a bit too lazy to redo the observations bit, but suffice to say, there was an increase in all-in vets on Pot B, and only a few of them hit -- as the group stages end, I expect more desperation and more such attempts. At your own risk, at your own rewards.

I would like to see the other one as well though - it would be a better gauge of a bettor's form and knowledge, the results in this one will be a bit skewed - especially towards the end of the group stage when risk will be at max levels.

I have a vision of weighted points for a BSFL style selections, but in fantasy mode, assigning points to scenarios.

More like a Betbuilder, but hiding the odds/weight multiplier (so people need to research to find out the likelier/unlikelier outcome).

So for example:
ML outcome: (odds based multiplier)
Choose Scorer: (position-based + price-based multiplier)
Choose player: (price/market value-based + match rating multiplier)

The lower the player value/price, the higher the multiplier.
The farther the position of the player from goal, the higher the multiplier.

OR, instead of multiplier, a cost-based points like fantasy transfer budget. Choose as many scorers or players to count goals and rating, but expensive players cost more points.

I feel that is an even better risk/reward proposition + requires knowledge of the game to know best value players, lineups, etc.

Problem? I ain't got time for that haha.

Well, Chelsea took points off City, what a game, I missed all of it, but pity those who backed them in BSFL and still lost. It's cold here in Div1.

So my team have got to play Buwaytress, jeremypwr, cryptofrka and casperBGD back to back to back without rest, I really don’t know who is in charge of the fixtures scheduling but every plan to have my team players worn out by these successive though fixtures will be thwarted by the management, as they’ve plan to bring in new reinforcements before the transfer windows finally shutdown.

I didn't even really show up so you didn't have to fight so hard, stop complaining! Wink Good job, you made quick work of me, switching players didn't do anything but I'll stick with my reserves + academy for my next round until my seniors make sure they get their fitness levels up.
899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: November 12, 2023, 03:00:01 PM
If only they lost, after second half performance like that, told myself I will ignore Serie A but Milan looked like too good chance yesterday and of course they killed me a great ticket. Would be much better for me to just forget about this league for some time. Last in the pool, games are unwatchable and teams are just killing my tickets...I mean how many signs must there be before I put whole league on blacklist?

Man, that is a horrible way to go, I know even the insurance doesn't lessen the hurt. Milan really seemed too good to miss, even after the Champs League victory the odds remained value, then they just remind everyone they are overperformers squeezing out the last bits of Giroud. They and Brighton are heavily invested into stats-based players but I think they are letting that cloud game management.

Hope you didn't fall for Napoli. No Osimhen, big problem.
900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 12, 2023, 12:34:27 PM
Destroy Manchester City's setup, send the team's engine (Rodri) back to the hospital, and give Doku a two-week Hamstring injury.

I'm afraid to give Liverpool a win on my ticket after what I saw on Thursday night. The defence is a mess.

Sounds good here, except I never plan on injuries, just prefer them to be fit and shit.

Liverpool's defence always a mess but statically still allowing the league's fewest quality chances so there's that. Also, all due respect to our Irish lad between the sticks, we lost on Thursday because we didn't have a Prem League keeper.
