I fully agree with you. Whenever someone mentions marketing you get answered with "we don't need any hype".
Nem is hardly used by any business, so how  do you expect it to be valuable in the long term.
No matter how good the tech is, if there is no marketing and no one can use it in their daily life it will become useless.
It looks like nem was just a hobby project or a test project for the Nem team. they are too busy creating some other stuff for real businesses like Mijjn and Catapult. And we just hope that some of the success will flow into Nem. Just pathetic. They have a Nem  marketing fund which they do not use and they do not update us about their plans with regard to Nem itself.
No idea why people are so excited with those side projects, currently Catapult that is supposed to come out in August. I doubt we will see any positive effect that causes shops and businesses to implement NEM

It sounds like you're trying to run down the price to scoop up some more. Can you keep doing that, because I put in a super lowball buy order and it would be kind of cool if it filled...

To the one who said they invested family savings in NEM, very, very risky. It might work out, but it also might not, and no matter how good the coin is, only invest what you can afford to lose.

And when you start feeling that you can't afford to lose what's been gained, it's time to take some profits and diversify.
great risk comes with great rewards,
i have 50 % of the family saving into crypto not all(my wife doesn't know it yet lol)
i did it because i hate my job, it's worth risking
i liquidated stellar and dash and chose Nem after i've done my little research
i feel more secure holding nem, the marketing is the only thing that scares me a bit
overall nem is solid .

I'm sure NEM is great, which is why I still have lots of it. In the mean time, as a public service I'd like to share this site as a good possibility for parking earnings which have been cashed out into fiat: https://www.770account.com/

I got my wallet working again, by re-downloading the entire block chain. Hopefully I don't have to do that every time. I'll leave it open and running for now.

Chase, I definitely recommend DNotes as a good coin to get into Smiley

I agree that providing education on how the cryptocurrency industry works and how to read and interpret things company financials and sound economic principles in general would be an awesome contribution.

I'm not in any way endorsing entities who are fundamentally scammers, as in raising funds through ICOs and whatnot with no intent to ever deliver.

I am grateful for the increase in financial investment opportunities made available to people with lower amounts of disposable income. I hope no government regulation takes that away out of any intention to "save us from ourselves," such as by assuming that because we have only small amounts to invest that we have to be ignorant about what makes investments work. I know I personally have appreciated the increased opportunities and I have learned a lot through the experience. One of the things I've learned is that as a general rule, don't buy the ICOs, instead wait for the coin to hit the market because 99% of the time the price will drop and there will be good buying opportunities provided the fundamentals are good. Another thing I've learned more recently is don't buy it if it's "just a coin." Right now, being just a coin is not enough. Any new coin is going to have to be an entire ecosystem complete with value added infrastructure in order to make it. DNotes was very forward thinking in pioneering this concept at a time when it was still possible to launch "just a coin." But now you have Steem, NEM, Diamond, and Ethereum standing out precisely because they are more than just coins.

That's an interesting article. One point the article isn't making quite blatantly is that cryptocurrencies allow people with small amounts of money to invest into the game. To be a VC, you have to already have a net worth of at least a million dollars. But with digital tokens anyone who wants to can put in a thousand dollars or less and see where it goes.

My personal experience is that unless the ICO is structured carefully (and most aren't) the price of the tokens will drop from ICO price once the coin hits the market. So, even if I think the coin is a good project, I usually wait until it goes on the market before I buy in. Often there is a fairly rapid correction and then you can buy in at a nice low.

The standard investment advice applies here. Only invest what you can afford to lose. Although I agree that ICOs are happening more often than perhaps warranted, I'm glad that people with good ideas have found an easier way to raise money and I'm glad that people can invest as much or as little as they want without having to prove to some regulatory agency that they are worthy of it. There's a lot more freedom for small income people to have some of the same opportunities that used to be reserved only for the wealthy. But with that freedom comes responsibility. Before investing you have to do your due diligence and make sure that you are investing in something that has a chance of succeeding. If you make a mistake, then learn from it. Only invest what you can afford to lose. If you are raising funds, then be responsible with them and make it your priority that your investors get ROI.

It is difficult to argue that the ICO market is out of control. I doubt if very many of them are even aware (or care) of the specific regulations they may be subject to. I don't know anything about the particular ICO example in the article, but what the author said about it did catch my attention:

"...raised US$12.5 million in 12 minutes on April 24, resulting in a market cap of almost US$300 million. It’s generated no revenue and has little more than a white paper describing what it intends to do. Yet its tokens, which would allow users to bet on things such as election outcomes, soared eightfold in the three weeks since May 2, giving it a valuation of over US$2 billion"

Silicon Valley’s hot new way of investing is through an ‘initial coin offering,’ but it comes with a catch

because of high BTC fees we will run DMD Cloudmining payouts in future not daily but just twice a week
its clear less frequent payouts mean higher payouts

u might ask why BTC tx fees affect DMD payouts

its because before we have DMD which we can send cheap in tx to our contributors (dmd cloud shareholders)
we have a few BTC transactions. from multiple  income sources toward the cloudmining central proccess unit from there to exchange.
so if we run for example average all 3 days instead of each day we lose 3x less value in fees
and all that less lost fees in BTC will transform in added DMD buypressure which we can share at payouts

Sounds good to me Smiley

I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm in.

If I win anything, half of it will go to the faucet guy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1924858.msg19161361#msg19161361

Thanks for the reply, I look forward to this change over when it happens. I only have just over 2,000 DNOTES as I was doing the faucet strategy that someone post on the crpto moms forum and was able to get up over 2,000 DNOTES claiming from faucets and selling those coins and buying DNOTES. I will be adding some more once the change over takes place.

Now that is cool! The faucet idea was mine, and it looks like you stuck with it way better than I did. Congratulations!

Hi Wiser,

That is cool! Good to see you again!

It's great to be here. The last couple weeks have been really exciting in cryptocurrencies! And I just finished reading through this thread to catch up with the DNotes project, and I am very impressed. I am also super happy that you have a Bitcointalk thread again!

Update: I'm now in touch with Fairglu and working on getting a CryptoID block explorer sponsored for 1 year. Cheesy

My wallet is not syncing. I thought I'd fixed the problems. It's stuck at 17 hours behind with two active connections to the Devcoin network. I had sent some over to CoinGather and when that deposit didn't show up in my account the next morning I tried to run my Devcoin wallet again to see if the send had confirmed and that's where it's stuck hours and hours later.

Am I going to need to download the entire block chain every time I want to open my wallet? I'd rather not have to leave the wallet always on either.

Any ideas?

Did you download the 2 receiver files as outlined above?

http://faucets.cryptoplace.net/receivers/receiver_69.csv
http://faucets.cryptoplace.net/receivers/receiver_70.csv

Once the wallet gets stuck at around 4 weeks behind, close it and add these 2 files to /roaming/devcoin/receiver/

Yep. Did that. Wallet finally synced last time. Then I closed it. Now it's stuck. I'm afraid that if I just close it it will then give me the "failed to find best block" error message which will mean I'll have to download the entire block chain. again.

Hmm. When I close my Windows client, it works fine when reopened - just has to catch up is all.

I tried that. The difference is it's now stuck on 40 hours behind (before it was stuck on 17 hours behind for hours and hours). I haven't seen that there is a receiver 71 to add to the folder, and I can't think of anything else to do.

do this people know that DMDv2 have 25% POS rate
which means each 1000DMD earn ya 20 DMD each month?
why they wasting like 3 months POS income

even if u joined u new and u waiting for DMDv3 release
sync the old DMDv2 wallet and earn some DMD via POS in the waiting time is worth it

The funny thing is that most of these holders will lose their DMD trying to speculate with such volumes in such a small market  Cool

I don't speculate with DMD. There is no point when there is a guaranteed 25% apy just by holding it. I have noticed, though, that you really have to be a market maker either way. You have to be willing to put in buy orders or sell orders and wait a few days for them to fill. DMD is a great coin, but liquidity isn't exactly its strong suit.

A little disappointing that NEM is stagnant with everything else rallying pretty hard last few days.

Guys, what are your predictions for end of year price, and why?

Stagnant? Where have you been? It just doubled in price a few days ago, and that was *after* a significant price increase! At the moment it seems to be stabilizing, which it does after a major rise. Then it will probably drop down a few points, then shoot back up to way beyond what it is now.

OK, it worked! I am now officially harvesting, and the proud owner of 9 more XEM than I had before Smiley

so according to the standalone wallet, I am harvesting. According to my nanowallet I am not. I will be watching closely to see if any blocks actually get harvested. Even an empty block would at least let me know if it's working or not.

It would be awesome if a user friendly and intuitive wallet that *also* harvests and where the whole thing is a straighforward process could be developed. From the beginning the wallet has always been a little on the difficult side to figure out how to run. The light wallets are great for sending and receiving, but not if you want to harvest.

I'll make a small confession. I've attempted to harvest and delegate and lords knows what over the years. I don't think I've ever successfully managed it.

So I'm not the only one LOL

I have successfully harvested in the past, just not recently.
