Thanks a lot!

I'll join in on the price speculation.
I think we are in for at least another month of sideways, the "up" won't start in earnest until September, the top will come in December.
Just my 10 cents.

...and it just keeps getting better!  Relief for hodlers!

https://scitechdaily.com/psychedelic-drug-psilocybin-magic-mushrooms-spurs-growth-of-neural-connections-lost-in-depression/

'In a new study, Yale researchers show that a single dose of psilocybin given to mice prompted an immediate and long-lasting increase in connections between neurons. The findings are published today (July 5, 2021) in the journal Neuron.
“We not only saw a 10% increase in the number of neuronal connections, but also they were on average about 10% larger, so the connections were stronger as well,” said Yale’s Alex Kwan, associate professor of psychiatry and of neuroscience and senior author of the paper.
Previous laboratory experiments had shown promise that psilocybin, as well as the anesthetic ketamine, can decrease depression. The new Yale research found that these compounds increase the density of dendritic spines, small protrusions found on nerve cells which aid in the transmission of information between neurons. Chronic stress and depression are known to reduce the number of these neuronal connections.'

These 2 stories are actually very well interconnected. Studies have shown that in about 80% of cases studied, psilocybin administered in a heavy dosage (I think it was 2.5 micrograms per 10lbs body weight, but I'd have to look it up) Anyway 8 out of 10 cases were completely cured of all alcohol & nicotine addiction. It was left as an open question as to whether other drug addictions would show similar results because they were careful to screen out any drug addicts to avoid possibly contaminating the other aspects of the studies findings. Those subjects who had positive results were also found to be 1 magnitude higher in trait openness even 18 months later, and all considered the experience to have been the most sacred experience of their lifetimes. However only 20% expressed any desire to ever repeat the experience. (This was part of a discussion on a podcast with Jordan Peterson)

Damn!  You had me right up until Jordan Peterson.

Its not a retreat when your surrounded, your just attacking in a different direction. Smiley

Semper Fi

Non sibi sed patriae. Semper fortis.

So, Swedish marines doesn't have a motto, but something our officers would always say, to the point where it was almost a de facto motto was "solen skiner alltid på en kustartillerist (ambifiesoldat). (the sun always shine on a Marine).
Google translate seems to have problems with the word "marinsoldat" (marine soldier) so I tried sea soldier. Since I don't speak latin I don't know how correct this is, but here we go. Latin speakers feel free to correct.

Sol lucet mare militem semper

Virgin female cannabis = sinsemilla. Later to be used with Pink Floyd albums and Doritos.

wow does that bring back memories. Animals (the pink floyd album) and sinse.. wadda combo for a weed noober like me back then. i still get head rushes on that.

Yup, I remember that shit back in the day. thought it was a different strain like tie weed.

Heh, me too, though i'm a bit younger than you. I was an early starter, despite my upper middle class parental background.
Mum'n Dad always told me to stay away from "the bums", but they were a dozen times more straightforward than what i knew from my family with the inbred stick-up-the-butt "syndrome"  Roll Eyes

EDIT: So if my children are buttstickers as welll when they will be grown-ups, i probably deserve it this way. But i already have an exit plan for living at the outer border of society when it's due.

Living on society's border is a young mans game, when you get old you need easy access to health care and food and such, but living on the border, maybe somewhere the boonies, when you are young is boring, unless you are the unabomber.

Many good movie suggestions lately, thanks for posting, will watch them later.
Right now started watching the rest of "the expanse". Only watched four episodes before and then I had other things to do.

But yesterday I watched this little gem from 1941 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfgUW16drxk "Stridsvagnsanfall" ("tank attack").
It's a Swedish propaganda/information film from WW2 showing an attack to breach the enemy lines and securing the area.
No subtitles unfortunately, but in short he says "the enemy lines will be hit by artillery to kill and shock the enemy to inaction, then the infantry will break through the breach and and secure it, a smoke screen on both sides will protect the tanks from sight as the drive through and clean up behind enemy lines. They will then stop at the beginning of the woods in hedgehog formation for defense and await the infantry. When the infantry catches up and have secured the area, the tanks refuel, rearm and move on to new missions."

Some rare footage of tanks and infantry transport vehicles from that era.
We see strv m/40 (Landsverk L-60-S) and 37 mm pvkan m/38 (Bofors towed AT gun) and German made Tempo Vidal cars, a weird car with two engines, one in the front for the front wheels and one in the back for the rear wheels, this gave it a weird but functional four wheel drive.

Enjoy.

Edit. The march is Skaraborgs Regementes Marsch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpQx0BpXNiY

We also see the B-force ("enemy") using double decker dive bombers.

I think you forgot one:

Inspired by the "Bitcoin sideways" movie suggestions, some classics:
The Wild Bunch  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065214/

Unforgiven  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105695/
Battle Royale  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266308/

Thank you, that was a true piece of art, I really hope they make a full movie.

So, it's better to take their money, give it to a government agency and let the government agency do what they are already doing with their own money?

That way of thinking is why the western world is going downhill fast.

Breaker, breaker
Since bitcoin leaves me hanging with interesting chart action lately and i'm still a little sick, bound to bed for half of the day, i was browsing the movies....

Discovered this lovely, slowish, pretty detailed and graphic action movie starring Bob Odenkirk:

Nobody (2021)

I can't remember (seriously) when i was laughing so hard to such a violent movie.
Strongly recommend it to all those who can spare a medial one-and-half-an-hour because of boreout.

Spoiler: Couldn't resist thinking about Arriemoller at 01:09:52  Grin so i paused the show at this plot twist and posted my recommendation to you, guys  Kiss #honomo

+1. A great watch. Recommended.

Edit: I can't remember the part at 01:09:52 and how it relates to Arriemoller. See what you made me do? I've got to watch it again now.

I'm a nice person. Well, mostly. This lil thing was part of the evil in me  Tongue
If you watch a different cut: It's the moment right after Bob (Hutch) lifts the napkin off of his surprise dinner.

EDIT: Now i managed to connect the pieces: Arrie was looking for a replica of this thing until finally someone custom 3d-printed one for him.
AFAIR, as a decoration for his car's front bumper?

@Arrie: did you finish it? Please post a pic. I might have missed it, though, in a TLDR accident...

It's a hitch cover, unfortunately I have no pictures of it on my hitch (Anhängerkupplung).

The text says "this side towards the enemy".
On the American equivalent, the claymore, it says "front toward enemy"

Evolution can't go wrong.

But, evolution has a goal: survival of the fittest.

We think we can influence evolution. Condoms, contraceptives and vaccines are some of our supposed influences. But, they are not really influences, because this is all part of evolution. We are all in the same system. Being smart and capable enough to invent the condom and develop contraceptives and vaccines is part of our own evolution. Evolution has brought us this far, and has favored these choices.

The fittest shall survive, while the weakest shall perish. Deal with it.

Well, if you consider "survival of the fittest" to be a goal, but I consider that to be just waypoints in an ever changing environment leading to nowhere special.

I totally agree with the rest.
972  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 08, 2021, 08:08:44 PM
@JJG:
Amongst the more naturally baked minds it is considered an absolute truth that reality is an "agreement".
You see, something went wrong in evolution, maybe it's temporary (i hope so), but humans generally got way more brainpower than most of them can manage, so it kinda bleeds into other activity apart of sane conclusions based on repeated observations.
Maybe (most) drugs are just a good way to tame that overshooting brain-capacity.
I wish we could power miners with that excess energy. Some day, perhaps?  Huh Wink

Evolution can't go wrong, because evolution has no goal.
But I get what you are trying to say, although I disagree strongly.

What about the released footage of the unexplained airborne phenomena (or what ever they called it). That might be probes from the future.

Without getting into the math too much there are a couple of reasons I believe time travel is nothing but a pipe dream.

My point being is I dont think traveling through time is a easy problem to crack given the computational resources required to establish where you are and where you would like to go.

As Peppa Pig would say "it's impossible."

Nothing is impossible, Mr. Dabs. What you want is simply expensive.

Both Loops are Open, either Past or Future. However, for this world to tap into that there is not enough time or compassion Cheesy

If it were in fact possible by some yet to be invented technology, do we really believe then, that our current point in time is SO utterly boring that no future time travelers have been interested enough to travel back to this point in history? I mean certainly we'd recognize some indicators that our distant progeny has come to visit! Right?

I believe if anyone has been able to develop an 2Way time Machine that he would be smart enough to not mess with the timeline and just enjoy the Fruits offered in it. Cause i bet my Tomos that no tyrant will ever be able to timetravel . Ok maybe future, but def not the past..

What about the released footage of the unexplained airborne phenomena (or what ever they called it). That might be probes from the future.

Bitcoiners, what's the best sentence/way to get someone buy BTC and not shitcoins?
I need that for my friends, they investing alot in fucking dogs. (I love dogs IRL)

They have to make their own mistakes, tell them once why you think bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency to put your money in long term, and then gently remind them every time their shitcoin of choice fails.
Eventually they will all turn to bitcoin.

... the judge is an idiot if he doesn't spend 5 minutes looking at the MIT license to know it is a spurious, vexatious lawsuit that is exploiting his court ... unless he's somehow in on the scam

The judge followed precedent and did what was expected. Its not a failing on his part so much as the UK legal system.

Regardless, the issue only affects those in the UK, who can quite easily get around it with a VPN.

Umm so, Nuremberg defense for the judge?

Not my battle. Just pointing out that nobody expected the judge to act any differently, not even Cobra. If the judge had acted differently they would have had to explain why a defendant not showing up for trial shouldn't result in default judgment for the plaintiff, and break precedent.

Yes, the judge did what he was supposed to do. A default judgement for the plaintiff if the defendant does not show up is norm in all normal jurisdictions, otherwise you could avoid a trial and/or judgement forever by simply not showing up.
However, before a case goes to trial it's looked at to see if it's a "real" case or just a frivolous lawsuit, and this is where the court has failed, they should have thrown it out simply because of the MIT license.

Plan B
@100trillionUSD
Looks like I was too early dismissing diminishing returns scenario. I fact, this will be the key question next 6 months:
1) Was $64K the top and will we oscillate between $25K-50K?
2) Or was $64K not the top and will the bull market resume towards S2F $100K-288K?
My money is on 2
https://twitter.com/100trillionusd/status/1411287372956942337?s=21

I am also going with the second option which is the future choice as most famous investors and global companies have just joined the list so oscillation between $25-$30k is temperorary and $64k was just this year's ATH.Next year in 2022 we would be giving two options:
1) Will it be oscillating between $65k-$70k?
2)Or will ATH of $100k again be crossed?

Bitcoin has always gone beyond our expectations so being optimistic about its growth is best in our side.

No, 64k was an anomaly, the range we are in presently is where we are supposed to be in this part of the cycle, the blow of top ATH will come in November or December.
