961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Closed Permanently on: August 09, 2015, 06:55:32 PM
I remember hearing a speech by the Winklevoss and one of the brothers sort of said he used a brainwallet. I hope he didn't loss anything, these guys sure must have tons of BTC everywhere they create a wallet at.
962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Micro Payments Dead? on: August 09, 2015, 06:48:55 PM
Micropayments don't necessary need to be finished because of the blocksize debate. I think they will still remain in one way or another, it's one of the killer selling points of Bitcoin. If the fees are too it will fail.
963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government Regulator Assholes on: August 09, 2015, 06:47:13 PM
All they will accomplish with stuff like BitLicense is emptying wherever the implant the license at off any Bitcoin ventures. Everyone is already evacuating NYC like if it was plagued by a virus. Ben ruined NYC from being the capital of BTC in the future. What a jackass.
964  Economy / Speculation / Re: The panic selling has begun on: August 09, 2015, 04:36:15 PM
The price seems to be holding at a 265 floor. We may stay there for a while and then start climbing up. A correction was expected after the brainwallet cracking paranoia, and certainly all those Mark Karpeles news aren't helping. The value of the Bitcoin protocol stays untouched tho, all of this is plain noise.
965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Why I'm releasing a brainwallet cracker at DEFCON 23" on: August 09, 2015, 03:49:30 PM
I think this is a good thing. We must be exposed to all of the possible Bitcoin and Bitcoin related stuff flaw's as early in the game as possible. Imagine if this happened 10 years from now. Now we can afford taking big losses and big mistakes because we can fix them without much impact, since we are still very early on.
966  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: where we can loan out btc? on: August 09, 2015, 03:47:58 PM
What kind of documentation you need to give to deliver loans? (not to ask for them).

I want to put my Bitcoins to some sort of use and try to grow them, but the problem is i've read people get scammed in BTCJam even by A+ approved borrowers. Hows this case? Why would you scam someone after giving all of your details? (to be A+ approved you need tons of details).
I don't think you need verification to lend.

As for scammers, they could easily get fake documents to become verified. Then when they scam, even if someone tries to go after them, they don't lose anything of value. That is why in order to borrow here a valid collateral is required and ID's are not accepted.

Easily? it's a big risk to fake your documentation and a crime.. I don't understand why someone would do this unless they were trying to get away with it by doing a super big loan scam.
Ideally, they should ask for video verification too. That's a video where the guy is holding his ID or something, or a skype conversation to verify it.
We need those things for the serious borrowers, it just sucks getting scammed. If p2p lending is the future we better decrease the scamming rates otherwise it will be seen as a joke by the traditional banking guys.
967  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earn bitcoin by sharing your bandwidth on: August 09, 2015, 03:41:04 PM
interesting project indeed.

here is another one: share content and earn BTC  Smiley

http://www.joystream.co/

I would be cool if someone can make a thread with an overview of all those sites and see what the rates are in terms of BTC/mb of space shared, just like there is one for signature campaigns. Those things can be great to get people started in BTC since everyone likes to earn some, and sharing some HDD space is an extremely easy way to get some going.
968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I doubled my bitcoin in last 3 months. How do you make money(bitcoin) online? on: August 09, 2015, 03:34:11 PM
NONONO! I took part in dozens of investment and p2p loan sites, if you put 10BTC to one site, most probably you would get your 10BTC scammed. The golden rule, do not put all your eggs in one basket, do not invest too big to get ignored.   Wink
So you created bitcointalk account just to tell us how awesome your skill of investing BTC are? You brag about your skills yet you are not willing to help people enough to tell them how to invest.
Saying that you have to split your money and never invest in 1 place majority of your coins is self explanatory but you could at least said which sites are fine/secure and give the best return of investment...

If he mentioned any sites or links, it would really be fishy.  I'd rather he teach me fishing than give me a fish.

By the way, 100% agreed this rule:

The golden rule, do not put all your eggs in one basket, do not invest too big to get ignored.

I agree that diversification is key in investments, but at the same time no can end up committing the mistake of diversifying too much. If you believe in a project, sometimes is good to risk a bit and play on the high stakes. The returns can be massive if it turns out well. I've never had this luck tho, mainly because I can't find any project that convinces me enough to invest a considerable amount at the early stages.
969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to the internet (and Bitcoin) if world economy fails? on: August 09, 2015, 03:30:44 PM
As far as I know nations have defaulted before including USA, it shouldn't be the end of the world, now im not sure what would happen in the modern times. Since 1971's "Nixon Shock" when the USA abandoned the international gold standard I have already assumed that the dollar HAS to collapse eventually, when? nobody knows, it could be in 10 years or it could be in 100.
970  Economy / Economics / Re: Taxing is legalized robbery on: August 06, 2015, 10:39:12 PM
Obama has accumulated more debt than all presidents in history combined. Why do we even have to vote to raise the debt limit? At this point we could never pay it back anyway, so keep spending like morons.
971  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cryptosporidium on: August 06, 2015, 10:27:13 PM
I don't get it. What's the point of this thread at all? You didn't even develop into an interesting conspiracy theory, you just mentioned a word that begins with crypto. What's the relation at all with Bitcoin? you should watch some more Alex Jones videos to work on your tinfoil hat theory next time you want to open such threads man.
972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most beautiful block explorer ever ? on: August 06, 2015, 10:21:32 PM
Im a classic. To me, nothing gets better than the simple and slick design of the blockchain.info site. Unfortunately, now I can't trust it since the satoshis coins incident.
Is there any other layout that is as good as blockchain.info's one?
973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transactions, fees, confirmations on: August 06, 2015, 09:45:09 PM
Thank you

I always pay the fee; i use breadwallet and it pays a fee in every transaction. I cant remove the fee.

I am asking this just to learn a little bit more about bitcoin. Thank you for that answers. Really appreciate it.

No problem. I recommend making an offline paper wallet to store your main bitcoin stack there if you start making more money. It's not a good idea generally to carry any relevant amount of BTC with you on a smartphone (if im not mistaking bread wallet is an iPhone wallet) so I would move my funds on the offline paper wallet and put whatever im going to spend on the smartphone, thats what i do.
974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is wealth boring? on: August 06, 2015, 09:11:30 PM
money doesn't buy happiness, and people can be happy without it. It's just a problem that is a statistical average, not a guarantee of discontent.
You can't be happy without money because you'd be dead. Starved to death or freezed to death, depending on the season.
thats not true, you can end up living in care centers or being fed by other people with a winter coat sleeping on the ground, and it will depend if you are happy on what are your life priorities...

Not in all countries, in USA you see homeless people living on the streets everywhere, living off whatever cash people throw at them out of pity.
Its pretty pathetic to end like that, I don't think anyone would be happy like that unless you have a few screws loose up there.
975  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin becomes 100% unregulated in Japan!!! on: August 06, 2015, 09:09:24 PM
Does this mean that you can freely open bitcoin casinos in japan, a country where gambling is strictly illegal except yakuza pachinko parlors?

Hmm, gambling with something that they see as having no value...I guess it would be allowed. Don't quote me on that though.

How can they see it has having no value when 1 unit of the Bitcoin network is universally valued at 280 USD? What is this sorcery? I surely don't get it. Does it mean you can cash out in japanese yen without fearing you will get investigated by mr taxman? I just dont get the rammifications of such claim.
976  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 10k when? on: August 06, 2015, 09:07:13 PM
and with sidechain linked to hard asset (bitcoin address) ... banks will not able to shit the "stress test".  Roll Eyes
that's why i talk about fondamental restored ...

everyone keeps talking about the side chain..

can you explain where I can find this sidechain? is it a option of some sort on the blockchain or bitcoin wallet im not looking at? or is this something discussed being built?

I will try to say it without any wrappings... SIDE CHAIN SUCKS.
They will not solve anything they are just a lame excuse for amatures dev that have no idea how to make a system design.

Why do they suck? What if you are a bank or something, and you want to take advantage of the blockchain supporting Bitcoin but you want your own rules? what if the devs of Bitcoin make a change in the way the main blockchain works but you don't like it? what if you are a country and you want to stablish your own coin and your own release of coins (inflation rate)... etc.
977  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at $600 before December? on: August 06, 2015, 09:04:04 PM
It's funny looking at the pessimistic low predictions to try to save face in case you are wrong, after the big 1K crash people has become pessimistic and highly underrate the potential growth of BTC, feels good knowing the end price will be higher than any of the predictions being made on threads such as this one.
978  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transactions, fees, confirmations on: August 06, 2015, 09:01:39 PM
As far as I know you need to pay fee per transaction. Imo just don't gamble with this and overthink it, just always pay the default fee to guarantee nothing unexpected happens.
979  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think 1 Bitcoin will be worth in 2020? on: August 05, 2015, 05:01:18 PM
By 2020 I think its going to be 500$ Smiley
that fair price for bitcoin Smiley

we can buy bitcoin now and keep holding it for long investmen Wink

You could do a shit ton better than that with vastly less risk in conventional markets. If that's what people are aiming for then they should reexamine their strategy.

Indeed, what would be the point of holding long term if you are aiming for anything less than 5 figure a BTC? waste of time. A stock like Tesla will probably give you more than x3 your money in 20 years. With BTC if you are aiming for x100 type of gains you are doing it wrong and you should find another investment.
980  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Calling the Bottom on: August 05, 2015, 04:42:07 PM
The price shows the daily birth rate. I am writing this from a castle that I bought with money earned by trading Bitcoin based on the very premise I have explained to you here.

Don't lose the faith people. Taxes, maintenance, and utilities on these castles aren't cheap (they're very drafty, after all). Risto needs more bag holders to keep up on his payments!

It sucks that some people got filthy rich out of luck by being at the right time doing the right thing

I understand that being at the right time doing the right thing makes you filthy rich, but how is that related to luck??  Huh

Well, not all people experience doing the right thing at the right time i.e. me when bitcoin was in its infancy. If I only knew bitcoin back then, I would have been a millionaire now, but no. Also, no one knows for certain back then that bitcoins would be that big, so I think those who hopped the train early were very, very lucky to be doing the right thing at the right time, and that is before the ATH of Nov. 2013. Well, that was the first wave of luck that bitcoin brought to us so far. Who knows? Maybe there might be another lucky event that at this time, we are going to be included?

For some, it was not luck. If you have read rpietilas writings, you would know that for him it was certainly not a question of luck, and what he did was in conformance with the rights of all other beings.

You have the right to sulk and pout, and express it, no problems there, it is more of an advice that this is not in your self interest. You use time and effort, and it closes your mind, and if you had used that in stead to study bitcoin, you would have seen that it is not too late. You are unable to inform yourself and act. I usually don't bother, there are just too many of you.

No one back in the day predicted Bitcoin to ever reach 1000 dollars per unit, literally no one... in fact most people that got rich did so by forgetting about their wallets and then seeing on Fox news how "Bitcoin the internet currency surpassed gold this morning" or something along the lines.
No one would have willingly held from 2009 to the biggest bubble we've seen yet because the thing was too new to properly put a price tag on.
Now we know Bitcoin is not going anywhere and the price will probably be way higher than the last ATH in 10 years, but back in the day it was too experimental. The code released by satoshi was a mess, sure the idea was there, but no one knew if this would scale up properly, in fact we still don't but at least things are different these days and are already on track with good traction. I just don't believe for a second someone would predict this to happen just like Warren Buffet didn't predict the stupid drink named CocaCola would deliver billions in gains years later. You just hold and see what happens, with more or less expectations. LUCK is always involved. Denying the importance of luck in everything = being in denial. The fact i've been here for a while way ahead of the pack = lucky me that I saw something related to Bitcoin somewhere on the internet and started researching on it. If I didn't stumble on some article mentioning Bitcoin I would have found out about it 10 years from now like most people will.
