wtf with this poll?

It is very unlikely that something better will come along than bitcoin.

The internet has been around for decades. A way of transferring value around was one of the first notions and it took until 2009 for this amazing concept(s).

No way something else is about to come along that.

Yeah, and? The concept is... sound. Bitcoin doesn't have to be the successful version. Bitcoin is still so tiny that nothing is preventing a better implementation from being the preferred payment system.

Bitcoin I'd

//pointless speculation and discussion below - read at your own risk!

Its quite peculiar. The walls on BFX and Bistamp appeared almost simultaneously (correct me if I'm wrong)

This would lead me to believe they are the same person(s).

But, notice that the BFX wall is just one huge chunk. No dividing. All 2k at $480. On Bitstamp, its staggered with smaller and larger walls. (4 of them)

This pattern goes back all the way to when these walls disappeared. And, if you actively watch the market, you may notice a theme:

On BFX, once walls are touched, they get taken down at once. No matter the size.
On Bitstamp, walls are usually tested multiple times, and eaten individually.

So, my conclusion would be that the "waller" is placing them in such a way that makes them most appealing to buyers at that particular exchange. On BFX, they panic buy (possibly due to the ultra thin ask side, aside from the walls). On Bitstamp, large walls are scary.. (maybe because the ask side is not thin at all)

What is my point? Nothing really. Just that this guy is really studying the markets and wants to rid himself of these coins with minimal slippage. They dont appear to be panicked, but are serious about selling. So it may be someone who still has a vested interest and bitcoin but just needs some $$$ to buy a new yacht.
983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 11:53:51 PM
There they are...

2k on BFX
2k on Bitstamp

These sellers are real. Back down we go.

You cannot merely determine that sellers are real b/c they show their bitcoins (in the form of walls)...

It would be interesting to see anywhere approaching 1k coins dumped at once and see how far, if at all, BTC prices comes down...

I get the sense that some the bear whale manipulators are running out coins... but some of these bear whale manipulators may be willing to lose money to keep engaging in this ongoing BTC dumping practice.

Walls have, in the past, generally been fake. These last two weeks, they have not. I watch these walls intently.. Tongue

here comes the sell walls

bitfinex @480.6
the wall bigger than bigger
Mean nothing
He was pulled yesterday and many other day  Roll Eyes

If fact sell wall on a ascending trend is bullish

Dont lie to re-affirm your position. There have only been 2 occasions of walls being removed on BFX and Bitstamp throughout the past two weeks. That would be a very random wall on BFX in the $600 area, and ~1.8k of coins on bitstamp in the $490 area.

Other than that, EVERYTHING has stood its ground and been eaten on the way from $460 to $490, and from $520 to $460.. All of it! Over 16k coins!
984  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 11:35:23 PM

Now this is 20k coins in 2 weeks. Price is still holding fairly steady. Cant last forever.

Very true, great point...

despite all this "manipulation" or selling or whatever you would like to call it the stability in the midst of all that is unreal

Yeah, you can look at this both ways

Its bullish because the market just absorbed a ton of selling pressure with a loss far less than you would expect.
Its bearish because there is now less demand for coins than there was 2 weeks ago (with a price higher than expected).

Personally, I think its bearish. I just dont see that, if more of these walls continue to pop up over and over, that they can be absorbed without reducing the price.

However, if this 4k is the absolute last of it? It might just be the recipe for a bubble. Slow slide down as people lose hope, but buying pressure continues to build underneath.. then the realization there are no more dumps coming. Boom. This is pretty much what happened the last few times. Just not to this degree (of dumping).
985  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 11:26:35 PM
here comes the sell walls

Here in the troll observer it's called manipulation wall. Selling means manipulation, you know? People are shouting for anarcho capitalism but when sell walls are popping up we prefer good old sovjet planned economy.

Its funny how the 2k market order that brought down an ask wall yesterday was a smart investor.

The guys who have sold 16k coins in the past 2 weeks? They're manipulating idiots out of the loop. People with 10 million dollars to throw around know nothing and act irrationally, you know?

Now this is 20k coins in 2 weeks. Price is still holding fairly steady. Cant last forever.

987  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 05:21:37 PM

where are the trollfuckers now?

its so pathetic...

Their silence is deafening.

Actually, they're silent now because they feel they accomplished their goal.  And they did, for 4 days depressed price down to $460.  Now up to $480 and climbing.

Expect another dump within 24 hrs.  After that, I guarantee the trolls will return again.

i think its grotesque to think that those trollfucks have any influence at BTC/USD. they think they have, of course, but nevertheless its rediculous.

only a fraction of all investors are reading BTCT reguarly and of those who do only a very tiny fraction finds this specific thread. and of those who find this specific thread only again a very very very very tiny fraction actually sells BTC cause of one of those trollfucks.

if i would have to guess the effect i would say maybe 1 BTC a day that is sold more through those trolls.

its just a perfect example of wasted time imo.

I agree. This forum has no effect on price. ( at least, forum sentiment and whatnot )
988  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 04:35:48 PM
Low volume dumps. We either haven't seen anything and worst is to come or there is no much will to sell at these levels anymore.

Here's a simple little graph of how many asks there are, on Bitstamp, until $520 |: As the max, within a 24 hour period; rounded to nearest thousand.

So, quite simply, I disagree. Lots of people want to sell.

EDIT: Forgot Sep 06, -- its 6k

So, NOW, all of a sudden we are supposed to believe these fake walls?  I will believe it when I see it.. that is if I see 10k BTC sold between $465 and $520.  If we got enough upward volume, I am fairly confident that a lot of those supposed walls of BTC up to $520 would disappear.... KAPUUUUUT!!!!

They're being sold. Haven't you seen all the market orders eating them?

About 1.5k was pulled today, though.. still, 15k+ had been sold by now.
989  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 03:30:06 PM

with a billion dollar wall cashing.  Tongue

Hahah, yes, a 50k bidwall at $20,000

I wonder how long it would take for:

A: That to be eaten
B: The other exchanges to catch up (assuming the guy only bought on Bitstamp's orderbook, or something)

People would be so hesitant to believe the price really just went up 40 fold
990  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 03:19:35 PM

I seriously hopen this happens some day... we've seen 500% spikes occur in the past, but generally on BTC-E or from a glitch.

I want to see it happen for real. 20k market order LOL
991  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 04:15:23 AM
apple pay... is going to flop.

I can't even use it, because its for US only

I can't use receive 1$ payments because it will cost 5$ in fee to do so

I can't use it to send money to africa because ...well idk why not...

I can't use it as a hedged its USD's

I'm sure the user interface will literally be 1 button "BUY NOW!", and this is very wow, but i dont care...

I can't believe i feel compelled to state such obviousness...

Since I'm lazy, how long do transactions take with bitcoin? 7 mins or something for the recommended # confirmations IIRC; so.. can this ever get faster or slower? I think we'd all agree thats a bit slower than it should be.

Other than that Bitcoin is incredible as a payment system.
992  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 03:34:31 AM
205 new shorts opened, and immediately dumped at market.

What does that mean?
993  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 03:10:31 AM
see am sleeping right now and i can tell we're going up because I hear

bonk bonk bonk ping beep bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk

this means moon.

lol, why not set it to a larger volume trade?
994  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2014, 02:17:25 AM
A break up to $500 seems imminent!

cant wait for this baby to blow  Grin

Yeah, BFX is probably going to rocket and the rest will follow.

Or more ask walls pop up and the drop continues. 5050 Tongue

They would have to be a fool to throw up walls right now.

I have a feeling this could spark a rally to $800

Possibly, but people though the walls were fake from $560, then $520, and here we are.. happy to be at $480.

There still isnt much enthusiasm. A continued drop is still completely within reason.

How much of the asks at Stamp are real? I guess they will start to pull back soon.

All of them? Nothing has been pulled so far from the 11k of ask walls that have been put up since Aug 28. All sold. (Well, theres like 2-3k left scattered along to $520)
997  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 09, 2014, 08:32:26 PM
Well, this is getting ugly fast. It was a trap, folks.

Not so sure. I would not be surprised to see the price slowly drop (from the peak) and then take another jump up from ~465

You think it could it be some one buying cover for his shorts on Bitfinex?

No idea as to why or who it would be, just guessing Wink

Regardless, the price seems to be leveling out around 468, so this would be the price it jumps from, I'd think.
