981  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 28, 2016, 10:03:08 PM
why do we have so low hashrate on p2pool , dont get it why most dont want to mine whit it ? . p2pool is a good thing
P2pool is not only a good thing, it's a great thing, it's really what Bitcoin is all about.  I think the main reason more people don't use it is because it's not as user friendly as simply pointing your miners to kano.is, for example.  There are lots of extra steps to take, and granted many bitcoiners know more about the ins and outs of computing than the general public, a lot of what p2pool needs to get up and running is beyond the grasp of even your average bitcoiner.
982  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.11.2 released on: January 27, 2016, 07:41:19 PM
Its more common that not the actual block files are corrupted but rather the database. If the blockfiles are corrupted you can usually delete the file in question to avoid redownloading everything. Which file is corrupted can be found in the debug.log. At least thats the overal experience from users reporting in tech support, its certainly possible that your case is different, but I guess you just deleted all files without trying other options first.

Thanks for the additional explanation, I didn't know the debug.log would show the corrupted file.  When core crashes on me there is no indication in the log at all what happened, it always looks like the program is running fine if you just looked at the debug log, but next time corruption strikes I'll try your method, thanks.
983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.11.2 released on: January 27, 2016, 06:47:56 PM
Its not the 50GB that are corrupted and you dont need to redownload anything.

Uh, what?  Once the blockchain is corrupt core has to redownload the whole thing again.  I actually have to delete everything in my bitcoin folder or core simply crashes right away again.  Provide some explanation for your statement, please.
984  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 153 blocks solved! on: January 27, 2016, 06:45:49 PM
If I rent a 200TH rig with, 1 or 2 workers vs a rig with 160 workers - will it make a difference?
No, it makes no difference.  All that matters is how much total hash power you have, could be one machine or 10,000.
985  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: January 27, 2016, 06:43:39 PM
very few s3s and no s3+s had the ability to change the voltage electronically.

its highly doubtful that setting will do anything on your s3.. you can try tho. you need a way to measure it to see if it did work.

My S3+ with Kano's updated software:

At these settings my S3+ hums along at 500GH/s.  Are you saying the voltage field is meaningless and has no effect on the miner?  I'm not sure I agree.
986  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: January 27, 2016, 06:32:54 PM
When you change to DHCP the ip address of the machine changes.  You need to access the machine via its new address once you "save and apply".
987  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Jan 26 to Feb 9 picks are closed! Just setting up. 0.2btc prize on: January 27, 2016, 06:31:40 PM
Were starting this period with BTC value around 392, would be nice to hit 400 by end.  Don't know if it will happen but I hope so.
Well it has been over $400 a couple times in the last week, then drops back to 380-390.  At least it seems like we have stabilized around the 400 mark and it's holding value.  We were at 200 for so long that to be double that now is a cool thing, makes that coin mined back then look even better in my wallet.
988  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Jan 11 to Feb 11 Sidehack Compac Stick pool new 30 day run. Birthday promo on: January 27, 2016, 06:24:37 PM
It's funny how the luck of the calculation goes sometimes.  One of my compac sticks has been finding shares of higher value than my S3+ for the last couple weeks.  Current bestever on the stick is 179M, and only 27M on the S3+.

{"hashrate1m": "509G", "hashrate5m": "428G", "hashrate1hr": "462G", "hashrate1d": "484G", "hashrate7d": "294G", "lastupdate": 1453918889, "workers": 1, "shares": 63676781, "bestshare": 9693755.8634971641, "bestever": 27528845}

{"hashrate1m": "30.8G", "hashrate5m": "27.1G", "hashrate1hr": "26.7G", "hashrate1d": "26.2G", "hashrate7d": "24G", "lastupdate": 1453918889, "shares": 8624552, "bestshare": 576712.76746331062, "bestever": 179524550}

The S3+ has found higher shares than 27M, but not since "bestever" was implemented.
989  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: January 26, 2016, 10:31:17 PM
I run one S3+ as a lotto machine, despite my tier 4 $0.33 kW/h electricity rate.  Shocked

They are still capable of solving blocks at today's difficulty, so I figure why not have at least 1 pony in the races?
990  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] HaoBTC, mining dividend paid out hourly on: January 26, 2016, 10:04:35 PM

You only earn the interest at the first of each month, used to earn hourly and withdraw, now if you withdraw before the first of the month you'll loose the interest you accrued during that month.

Oh and pay withdraw fees Sad
No, you still earn interest hourly in Wallet, but it is "frozen" until the 1st of the next month so you cannot withdraw it before then, but you still earn it.

I have not seen the post regarding withdraw fees, can you link to it please?

991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.11.2 released on: January 26, 2016, 08:47:31 PM
Because it doesn't know where the bad piece of data is. The crash makes it unable to read the database, and since it can't read the database, it has to rebuild the whole thing.
And that's my complaint, it should be able to pin down the error to a specific block or something.  Having 1 small error corrupt 50 gigs of data requiring it to all be downloaded again is terrible design, there should be a better way to code it.
992  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Jan 26 to Feb 9 picks are closed! Just setting up. 0.2btc prize on: January 26, 2016, 08:43:28 PM
5% was not soo bad. Im curious for the next dif since Bitfury will release soon.
5% was not so bad when the network difficulty was 30G, but 5% of 111G is a very significant increase!  I think we're going to see solid increases right up to the halving, especially as new tech is being introduced.  I suspect there will be some efficiency break throughs right around the halving, too, in order to keep mining profitable for the huge farms.
993  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] HaoBTC, mining dividend paid out hourly on: January 26, 2016, 08:34:03 PM

HaoBTC offers two types of accounts:
Wallet: interest rate 3% APR
Finance: interest rate 12% - 15.58% APR; interest rate increases incrementally every month

Wallet has no minimum deposit and you can withdraw at any time and still earn interest.  Finance has a minimum deposit amount (10btc I think) and you have to keep it deposited for a fixed amount of time to earn interest.
994  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 26, 2016, 08:31:09 PM
Have any S7s made it to the used market yet?  Are they holding their resale value?  I would like to pick one up to have it hosted, but I don't like paying new full price.

Happy birthday, and thanks for the give away!  The second account is a little confusing, though. Smiley

This club will solve a block, I just know it!  Only a mater of time (not too much, hopefully)...

I recently upgraded my s3's firmware what is with the new voltage setting underneath the freq setting? I run mine at 250mhz and have been doing so for 3mos now without a issue. What can this new voltage setting do can it give me more speed? I rn the on Corsair HX1000 PSU's So i got watts to spare  Smiley

If you up the frequency you need to up the voltage as well.  The new voltage setting in the gui saves you from having to ssh into the machine and edit the files manually.
997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.11.2 released on: January 25, 2016, 10:43:46 PM
I have had a couple crashes with 0.11.2, twice now I have had to rebuild the entire block chain.  I wish there was some way it could isolate just "the bad part" of the chain when a crash happens rather than taking a week to resync the whole thing.
My core finally finished resyninc on Friday, again, and then it crashed this morning and now has to resync... again!  Holy crap this is frustrating.  All 50gigs of the block chain cannot be corrupted, I don't understand why the software can't just replace the bad piece of data rather than having to sync the whole chain...

We just hosted the our first end-of-the-year (Chinese calendar ) event cum Chinese Bitcoin Conference last Saturday at Binggo Cafe in Beijing. The event was attended by over 50 members of the Chinese Bitcoin community, including some of the most prominent figures, such as Wu Jihan, CEO of Bitmain, the company behind Antminer and Antpool. The guests held a lively discussion over a range of topics, esp.  the recent debate regarding two competing proposals over the Bitcoin protocol, namely the Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Classic.
Congrats on the event, I saw the postings on twitter.  Good to see HaoBTC taking a proactive stance, and as I understand it the Chinese big guns are in favor of a 2MB block size.
999  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Jan 13 to Jan 27 picks are closed! on: January 25, 2016, 10:33:13 PM
Dropping price and rising difficulty isn't good for anyone, I would rather see the opposite happen!  As long as the price floor stays ~$380 I don't think too many people complain, but personally I like seeing $4XX as the bottom, it just makes me feel better.
1000  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [12 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: January 25, 2016, 10:27:16 PM
Great luck over the weekend, my phone has been dinging at me like crazy.  Congrats to the first Avalon6 winner, that's really cool.

I was looking this https://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks

What does 378389 block text "share diff was very close so we tested it, but it wasn't worthy" mean?

Isn't it perfectly clear whether block is valid or not?
Blocks that are "close" to network difficulty are submitted anyways, just in case.  Sure, it's clear if it's a solve or not, but better safe than sorry.
