1441  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property is real on: January 20, 2023, 12:15:32 PM
I was going to agree with you but then read rat03gopoh's comment — after all even your ownership of property is just your name written on paper, just like your holding of shares.

Although, changing of ownership is dependent on medium — house ownership, share market, crypto. Crypto being easiest of them all to lose ownership, in case key/mnemonic is known by someone else.
Well, "it's written on a paper" but at the same time it's hard to find someone selling your house and getting the money for it, without actually owning your house right? The paper you get saying you own that house is not there to prove that you own that house, it's there to make sure nobody else could prove it's their house, you basically block everyone else from doing it, not to just do it yourself.

I would say that scammers on crypto world are much worse, they could do all kinds of fake stuff, I once saw someone trying to sell test net money as mainnet one, 300 BNB on testnet, as the real one, and get the money, things are much wilder here for sure, and that's why some think it's riskier.
1442  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: January 20, 2023, 09:46:22 AM
This is the type of thing where you do not really have to take for example and run with it. I mean I am not saying wager all your money in a single bet if it is 1.01, obviously avoid that if you could because it would be a bad idea if you did that.

However, if you are gambling, there are also people who won 5000x as well and I am not seeing anyone who spends 1.4 million dollars on those bets neither. It means that if you ever to gamble 1.4 million dollars on anything, then a lower odd thing is a lot better than low chance to win. I rather wager 1.4 million on a 1.008 bet than a 2.20 or whatever bet, it makes a lot more sense that way, and this example is just very rare.
1443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 20, 2023, 06:34:03 AM
There are reports that Atlético Madrid are close to signing Memphis Depay from Barcelona in a deal worth around £3m. A mixture of injuries and form concerns have ruined his 2022-23 season so far. So instead of sitting on the bench, I think it’s a good move for him because he has struggled this season, making just four appearances and scoring one goal across 206 total minutes.
that's a very small amount of money. Barcelona was selling him in a big loss again after he bought from MU during the van gaal era. It seems depay was very tired of waiting for regular time to play caused by xavi didn't wanna try to waste an opportunity by not letting Lewandowski play. he has made a good decision if depay was really moving to the Atletico Madrid. Barcelona may be interested in such offer considering Barcelona was always selling its players in big loses like that. I hope that depay will be happy to play in the new team with new teammates too. He shall not waste more time in Barcelona.
I think it's a bit more about them not wanting to pay his salary and get some financial relief out of this than anything else. I am not saying that he worths 3 million now after he couldn't provide anything for them, even on his worst situation he still worths a lot more than this, but that 3 million minus his salary worths a lot for Barcelona right now. That means they could get another player if they want to during this transfer window, and if not then they could have a good chance when the summer transfer window comes along.

It requires only a small amount to leave, to make a much bigger debt because you get the money today, but get the debt for later, hence why it works like that.
1444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe 2023 betting. on: January 19, 2023, 05:08:20 PM
I don’t know who this year’s Miss Universe is, and definitely had no idea who it would be. However, after seeing the pageant’s new owner, I feel pretty safe in saying that next year’s winning won’t be a woman at all. I’d be willing to bet that next year’s winner will be a transvestite (is that still a word that’s acceptable to use?) male dressed as a woman. Is any platform letting you make that bet yet?
Well.. completely agree with this. Given the insane amounts of wokeness and political correctness injected in to this meaningless competition now, I can't rule out any such possibility. At the end, Miss Universe will also end up as a joke similar to Eurovision and we will have a winner similar to Conchita Wurst. Already transgenders are dominating some of the athletics competitions that are reserved for women. In order to ensure equality and to make a political statement, very soon they will be allowed in to competitions such as Miss Universe as well.
I am not sure how a "singer" has anything to do with wokeness. I mean does it really matter if you are male or female or trans or whatever you want to be called to win a singing contest? If you sing well, you win, and if you do not sing well, you lose. Shouldn't it be that simple? If you have a trans person joining miss universe, and that person is actually better looking then others, does it matter? They pick the most beautiful one and that means if a trans person is the best looking, they could end up winning too. That's not the trouble here though is it?

The trouble is justice, so if you think someone that is not the prettiest ends up winning for political reasons, then in that case it could happen in all-female competition too, trans do not change that, lack of justice is bad in every and all cases.

Sommer is an important goalkeeper. Experience is very important for Bayern. Sommer also has a lot of experience. It seems that they do not want to trust young goalkeepers and take risks. If they can find a goalkeeper like Donnarumma, they will transfer, but I don't see any good alternatives right now. I think Sommer is a good choice. The only problem is that he is 34 years old.
Now it seems that Jonas Omlin has come to an verbally agreement with Mönchengladbach about a transfer. Some media said Montpellier has alternatives for another goalkeeper. The transfer fee is still to be negotiated. It is said to be between 7 and 10 million euros. That is what some media are reporting. I think the transfer will have taken place before the game against Leipzig.
It is basically like a trade, one will get the other and that team will get the other teams and so forth. The injury of Neuer was a bad thing for Bayern, and I am sure that they are unhappy that he got injured out of the game, it was pure stupidity that caused him to get injured.

If it was something like he dropped from the stairs or something I would have understand, but he got injured doing something that has a high risk of getting injured to begin with, which is why it's really not a great thing. In any case Bayern will find the money to buy an alternative for sure, it's not going to take any much longer, they need a new one, and they will get it, that's the type of team they are.

Real Madrid was also facing the same problem as Liverpool and this gonna be a very good chance for real Madrid if the club can go back to its best performance as soon as possible. The loss against Barcelona has been making so many people were talking about real Madrid right now.
Real Madrid's performance was declining from the top. The worst result was achieved by Liverpool when Liverpool was facing brighton. It's a big shame for Liverpool to lose a lot of goals against brighten.
I will never pick Liverpool. real Madrid is far better for me personally in the upcoming match of champion league. there are only small chances for Liverpool to win the current season.
I do not think that Real is that bad. I mean they are second in their league, and they are in the UCL right now as well. Which combined together is not that terrible for them to be doing, that's not half bad at all. I know that people expected a lot better from them after their last years domination of everyone, but this year it could be a little different.

All in all I believe that they are going to end up with something much better when the time comes, and in order to do that they need to focus on being better and getting better players. So far they are fine, whereas Liverpool on the other hand is losing left and right to everyone, and that's why it's different.
1447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 17, 2023, 09:50:00 PM
After the last matches, I was convinced. Denver plays very well even without Jokić. I think they are the undisputed favorites on the West side. Memphis is also doing very well, but other teams are far behind them.
Boston is also doing incredible work in the East. I think they are ready for the championship this year mentally. Tatum, Brown and Smart play very well and have reduced the errors from last season.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Denver vs. Boston final this year. In fact, this would be the most logical choice for long-term betting. Of course, I couldn't see which sites give this bet and at what odds. If odds are worth playing, it can be tried.
That's if they can avoid injuries, especially the Boston Celtics. Brown and Tatum are a duo that cannot be separated, there are times one is off night while the other is having a good one. It will be crucial for them to have both of these players in the playoffs and the Finals. 7th winning streak for them with Brown missing 3 of those games, luckily, 2 games are against the Hornets and 1 against the Brooklyn Nets Durant-less.

Denver Nuggets on the other hand is a great team and they are doing better than last year. The twist will be when the playoffs happen, they cannot slack off anymore as this could be their best chance for a championship with a complete roster and strong bench.
I think they are doing pretty well with their role players surrounding them as well. I mean of course they lost the finals last year, and they could have been better as well and yet they failed not just because they played badly, but because they didn't had a proper plan to stop Curry to be fair, and that's not that rare, the whole league doesn't really have a plan to stop him, they can't.

But, Tatum+Brown duo surrounded by good role players gives them a chance to at least try that again, maybe this time they could win it all or maybe they won't even be in the finals, I really wouldn't know. In any case they are pretty good, that much is obvious to anyone who watches basketball.
1448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: January 17, 2023, 09:19:02 PM
The round of 16 match will not be easy for Oliver Glasner and his troops. because after all, Glasner is well aware that the opponent they will face later is not a weak team. plus, Frankfurt has tough matches in the next few weeks after the Bundisliga restarts. at the very least, Glasner's attention will be on focusing his squad more on maintaining their ranking in the domestic league.

On the other hand, Napoli is a strong team that is one of the challengers to be reckoned with in this competition. after all, Napoli have more depth than Frankfurt's players. So it's natural that many of us prefer Napoli both away and at home. after all, Napoli are top of the standings in their domestic competition. however, I'm sure Luciano Spalleatti will not underestimate his opponent. because after all, this fight is the first meeting of these two teams.
Likewise with Frankfurt, at least they will provide a fierce resistance when they face Napoli at their own base later.
I think it is not that bad for them, they do not have too much pressure on themselves. Sure it looks like they are ging to have to work really hard to win, but at the same time they do not look like they are going to be upset if they lose neither.

Nobody from their fans would blame Glasner nor any of the players if they end up losing, they are expected to lose and they will lose and they will go back on focusing bundesliga. They are not doing great at Bundesliga to begin with, so it's much better if they could end up winning there instead. This is of course a trouble in the long run, why shouldn't they end up with a win, if they could, but they can't hence it's alright.
1449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be vulnerable to Quantum Computers in about 2 years on: January 16, 2023, 08:31:44 PM
Our current era CPUs are only 64 bits. Why no upgrade to 128 bit CPUs?

This upgrade would be trivial and easy to implement, as it would entail merely increasing the byte length of registers. So why have 128 bit CPUs not yet emerged?

Likewise with ASICs. If it is possible to increase cryptographic function on chips, simply by extending the bit length of registers. Why have we not seen ASICs with registers that can hold a bazillion bits?

Think of engines in cars. If exotic luxury cars are known for their V-12 engines. Why not produce V-24, V-36 and V-48 engines if the goal is to produce greater horsepower and torque?

Can it be said that, at a certain point, simply adding bit length to chips and cylinders to engines produces diminishing returns.
There are two reasons for it in peoples minds. One of them is exactly what you said, the returns are not greater there and in order to be greater they are working on it as much as possible and we do get better tech here and there when someone figures how one thing works out.

However, another side says that "they are building them, but not sell them just yet so the previous ones are sold" so basically it's possible but they want to first sell the previous generation stuff and then promote the newer one. I am not saying either is the case, I wouldn't know, I am not really the person to listen to in this case, but I can say that these are the two reasons I have heard.
1450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Turkish Super League 2022/23 Season on: January 16, 2023, 07:12:03 PM
Anytime I watch Ferdi Kadıoğlu I enjoy a lot. His performance for Fenerbahçe is extraordinary good. I feel like he can do big move in his career in future. I can imagine him playing for some clubs like Tottenham in future. I think he is literally the best performing guy in Fenerbahçe with Enner Valencia. I think Fenerbahçe got important win this week. They will follow Galatasaray for title this season for sure.
Definitely a good game and a good win for them. I do not think that Ferdi is "that" good, he is good enough that he could move to one of the five big leagues, but to a mediocre team at that as well. Considering the link between Fenerbahce and Napoli, and how many players they transferred there, Napoli is doing amazing right now, and could Ferdi go there? If it wasn't the amazing year Napoli is having and they were like 5th, I would say yes he could but now he is not there anymore.

I think more like bench at Juventus, or playing at Torino or something could be a lot more realistic for him. Not good enough for a huge club just yet, he needs some time.
1451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How do you feel about market recovery on: January 16, 2023, 06:25:33 PM
Honestly, I don't feel that we are in the recovery period, I'm not yet convinced with the current market performance. I'd look at the past bear season and it never ended that fast like 1 year. I don't say this is a bull trap but I really expecting a dump after this, it is something we need to be more careful buying today. But if this will continue to move high like reaching $30k for Bitcoin, maybe that was the time would change my mind. But for now, I still consider this as usual market changes, the volatile nature of the market.
That is okay, we do not have to convince everyone to join right away on the first day. If we convince enough people everyday, we will keep going up, and if you are not one of those today, you could be when it reaches 25k, or could be one at 30k. We will need more people to keep on buying to go up, and that means it's going to be a bit of a trouble when the times comes.

Hence it's going to be an issue if we get all the people who want to buy today, because they would buy it now, and it would be over, then we will go back down. I will buy today, you will buy tomorrow, and the other person will buy the next day and it could go up this way much better and stronger.
1452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: betting against the Public, is this strategy working? on: January 16, 2023, 05:59:32 PM
I heard this strategy working but I like to know based on your experience if this is working.
It sure works, but this is not a strategy that works or shows up all the time or everyday, the only time I can tell you that betting against the public worked for me was in recent QATAR 2022 world cup that just ended, and it was the match between Morocco and Croatia, from the odds, I could see that the public were pouring their bets on Croatia to win the match, after seeing how attractive Morocco's odd is and putting into consideration how they've played well against Portugal, i decided that they could end up beating Croatia, so I betted against the public in that match, and amazingly, i was right, Morocco beat Croatia and that was how i won some really good amount of money.

And like i said, the above is the only time betting against the public has really worked for me, every other time i tried, it has always ended in a loss.
It's very rare that betting against the public would work, because public is betting on the most likely outcome anyway, and statistically it's not a wonder that the most likely option to happen, is the most likely thing that happens in the end as well. Of course you could go against the tide sometimes and just have fun with it, but that doesn't mean that it's going to be any different in the long term neither, it will be something expected.

This is why I believe that we should be focusing a bit more towards betting on the common results, that way we would not be making more money, but we would be winning more frequently and that's easier on the eyes and on our psychology as well.
1453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: January 15, 2023, 08:00:42 PM
Small - Big change.
Silverstone is working for changing the weekend of the F1.

They want an event of 4 days of racing over the traditional 3 days.

If all the GP will do the same it will be an huge change for the logistics of the F1 especially when we have 2 races in 7 days.
To be fair, even though more races means more difficulties regarding logistics and longer weekends would mean even harder logistics, lets be honest here and realize that the more days they have it, the more money they would make. The reality is that F1 is not a profitable business for most teams, there are a few maybe who would, but in reality it is not and I highly doubt Mercedes started to get a lot more cars sold just because of f1 titles nor red bull sold more drinks because of their recent titles.

This means that if you do it 4 days weekend, and spread the races to more times and let the "off period" down a bit, so like 45 weeks a year there are races, then they could make a lot more money. I am all for anything that is profitable for them.
1454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price, January. $20000 or above possible? on: January 15, 2023, 03:46:23 PM
There will always be force to pull anything in price, but, it's for the market to react at all. Mate, we already broken $21k in January, saying it's difficult at January to be broken is already a past. I think the market has already aware of it and news like for FTX doesn't have any reactions at all in the market, maybe we've seen the bottom already. I won't be surprised if 20k will be the consolidation area.
Wow, thanks for the correction I never knew Bitcoin price had even gone above $20k that means it will be all bullish. I, last observed my chart last weekend little did I know we are in profit at the moment. The season of smiles is launching in gradually. Price consolidating at $20k will require a lot of factors but as it stands none of those factors are playing in at the moment, factors that include strict regulations and or reduction in the amount held by holders.
It does look like there is a likely situation for it to be bullish, I mean not saying that it is guaranteed or anything like that but there is a possibility of it. Every time the price goes up, people react to it like we are going to be bullish right away, and the reality is that we are not going to be bullish each time it goes up, even the fact that FTX situation saw the price go up first, then go down afterwards is a good proof of this.

Could this be the one where we go up? Maybe it could be, there is a possibility of it. But that doesn't mean that we should be considering it guaranteed that it will go up as long as possible, it will be different.
1455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 14, 2023, 08:31:04 PM
It depends from which side are you looking at the World Cup 2022. If you watched it on a TV from your home, everything was great and most of the games were interesting. However I'm sure that fans that were stopped in the airport because they didn't get their visa on time. There was a situation where two guys payed almost $3000 for a game and airplane ticket to go to one game. One guy got his visa and the other guy didn't get it in time. The guy without a visa got stopped from entering a plane in Frankfurt, Germany and his friend didn't want to go alone. In the end not only have they lost $3000, they had to buy another plane ticket to get home from Frankfurt.

And then there were those discriminate situations where something that is normal in "our" world was forbidden in Qatar, but I won't go into that.
Visa issues during 2026 edition will be much worse than what they had in 2022. Qatar at least issues tourist visa without much delay, unless you are from the pariah states such as North Korea or Cuba. Getting a tourist visa for the United States is next to impossible for most of those who are residing in the third world nations. I am not sure whether they will make some exemptions for the 2026 World Cup, but we are going to witness a lot of ugly scenes at the airport.

Perhaps football fans need to wait until 2030, if they don't want to waste their hard earned money. But we don't know about hosts for the 2030 edition yet. Right now there are at least a dozen bids, including those from Morocco, combined Uruguay–Argentina–Chile–Paraguay, combined Spain–Portugal–Ukraine, and the joint bid from United Kingdom-Ireland. Voting will be held sometime in 2024.
Qatar didn't issued a tourist visa that easily for nothing, and USA wouldn't issue it for nothing neither. We are talking about one nation that is literally bribing Fifa to do it so they could promote their nation vs a nation that is already troubled with immigrants to begin with because they are a good nation.

I am sure that you could all realize that one nation being a lot better to live in and want to immigrate to versus the other is obvious here. Who would want to immigrate to Qatar where they literally killed thousands to build for world cup, but you would want to immigrate to USA which is a real thing right now. That's the difference between visa applications and a real thing.
1456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will BNB Coin Hit $300 Mark in 2023? on: January 14, 2023, 07:04:34 PM
it was only last month that the OP asked this question. but here we are right now, almost $300 in the market. the good thing about BNB is it is not just some fly-by-night project out there...
The price of $300 per BNB coin is not excessively high, so it was only a matter of time before it was reached. As for the long-term goals for the coin, the price of $690 remains relevant, which is ATH for BNB and which can only be achieved in the next bullish cycle.
I know that it was matter of time but since the market crashed there were a lot of people who doubted it would happen anytime soon. I am glad that it happened so that people could see the situation we are in and that it could end up with a super return in the long run. I know that its not going to be a big deal at the end of the day, but that is going to end up being a bit of a trouble for a while for people who never trusted it to get to 300 dollars to begin with.

I am making a profit right now already, if I sold today I would be in profit and that's the good thing but the better thing is that I am not even going to sell now, it could drop back down and I don't care, I will sell it when it is much higher.
1457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is investing in ethereum safe? on: January 14, 2023, 06:25:53 PM
I think those coins that collapsing are quite different with eth, luna is coin released by certain foundation meanwhile ftt is utility coin released by ftx exchanges so I think it couldn't be compared even though indeed there's always risk of collapsing but with eth it's gonna be different. you see luna crash also because of its ust coin.
i'm sure eth will just exists like btc since it has proven so many years that they still stand until now.
The quality of Ethereum is unquestionable and I don't see the coin collapsing,
for risk I think every investment will always be there and that's what we need to minimize,
what is clear is that Ethereum will remain the top coin and a safer investment than any other altcoin.
That's true, it is one of the best coins out there in the world right now and people should be glad to hold it if they have any. The problem for me is not having enough money to buy even more, I don't care about the increase we had now, I want to buy more, I did when it was lower, I did when it was higher and I would now too.

So, when you feel like you are not sure what you should do, if you should buy more or not, remember that there are people like me who would buy ETH right away as soon as they get some money, and they can't because we lack the funds for it, and if you do have any funds to buy ETH and not doing that, you are not giving it enough justice.
1458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: January 14, 2023, 04:13:02 PM
Even though there are many smaller teams in the Europa League the champions have still been big teams for many years. Still teams like Villarreal and Frankfurt won the title in a row in the recent two years though. This might have made people give more chance to such teams from now on. But this season looks different to me.
Frankfurt was not playing in europa league again. This time there are so many big clubs that were playing in the play off. Some clubs were also at the top of their domestic league which gives different view to the current europa league.
This time europea league looks more interesting compared with last year. there are so many changes happened with the current competition. im so glad that to see so many big clubs were clashing between one to the each other.
I agree that the teams that are at the top of their leagues do have a bigger chance. Just to name the big names Arsenal and Barcelona will be the big names. I think europa will be different this year a lot more because there is more prestige to it, like conference league is the lower end now, which means that europa is not the bottom one anymore and winning that should give some returns.

I understand it's not a lot of money and not a lot of reputation neither since the biggest clubs of Europe do not really win it, but this year is a bit different and it could happen. We have to just wait and see, we still have time for a smaller club to win.
1459  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the $17,000+ bitcoin price breakout benchmark to new price direction on: January 13, 2023, 09:20:51 PM
Have crossed 19k recently but drops down to 18k again in which I am seeing that we are heading to new  direction comparing to what we have in 2022 though we are far from hitting at least 20k again?
but we have positive look to what will come sooner.
and hoping that this is not just for January but the whole year I wish.
Yep. Today, it passed $19k for a moment. Although it doesn't last a long time, it is surely a good sign that Bitcoin is likely to improve its price constantly. Once the price stays above $19k, it is not very far from $20k. In theory, $20k may be achieved in several days or weeks. But if there is bad news, the price may decrease again temporarily. However, these all are positive indications that this year seems better than last year. I bet Bitcoin already hit its lowest price last year, this year is a time to begin its improvement constantly. Let's hope there is not much bad news anymore, so the price can increase without significant obstacles.
As far as I can see, it is above 19k right now as well and it looks like it's going to stay there for a while. I am not saying that this increase is start of something awesome and we will be 100k in a month or whatever, it's not going to be like that for sure. But, I am saying is that we are looking decent right now and there is no reason to bash that, there is no reason to be hopeless even at the face of victory.

This is why it's going to be quite important to focus on making as much profit as we possibly can and it's actually a good thing to see it as a risk even when it's up, because you won't be blinding investing, and keep one eye on it, but you should get involved anyway.

And then there were those discriminate situations where something that is normal in "our" world was forbidden in Qatar, but I won't go into that.
I will. What is "normal" in our nation is literally just women wearing whatever the hell they want, that's a freedom, if you are going to put pressure on women that goes to Qatar, and I do not even mean women of their own nations, I mean women that goes to visit, and tell them to wear "proper" clothing, that's not just limiting someone's freedom, but that's literally a crime in our nation.

You can't force women, you can't force lgbtq people, you can't force anyone to do what you want to do, and that was disgusting. West may have a lot of troubles, as someone who is not from west I can say that they have many many faults, but freedom to wear whatever you want is a key difference because if even that's an issue, then imagine all the other ones we do not know about.
