201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 15, 2023, 05:55:05 PM
Apparently this is a true live event happened in my State this week and almost everyone is talking about it. About a young man that killed himself after a gamble loss, he even left a message for his family and friends before taking his life.  But I wonder why should someone take his own life  just because he lost  #2.5 million to gambling an amount  equivalent to just about $3k. I can relate to his loss but taking your life is something unimaginable and unjustifiable to do. No matter the regrets suicide isn't an option to be taking as a solution , you are only leaving bigger pains  behind for your loved ones.

This is just another reminder to we all gamblers that no bet is sure and guaranteed, don't ever use an amount of money you are not comfortable to lose just because you feel convicted in your mind that the game will play as predicted. There's no such thing as sure bet in gambling.

Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?

If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.
There is no amount of money that would pressure me to commt suicide, for me we could always earn it back and I wouldn't gamble an amount that I couldn't afford to lose.
We should always remember to "Gamble or Invest only what we could afford to lose".
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All thanks to my family they contributed and bought bitcoin for me on: December 15, 2023, 12:19:27 PM
I don't want the year to come to an end without having any Bitcoin. I have seen a lot of people here talking about their bitcoins and how their investments are going. The thing that gets me depressed the most is when I hear about the halving next year and how bitcoin prices may be influenced positively. I wish i could just have some amount of Bitcoin. However, seeing the price of bitcoin now i became restless if the price will soon go higher and i may not afford it. So i pleaded with my parents if they could support me. Seeing how curious i am they helped me with some amount in my local currency so i used it to buy Bitcoin. Help me thank them for what they have done for me. Am so happy right now.

This is the amount in my local currency i believe it will get me up to 90 dollars of bitcoin. I am waiting for my friend who will help me buy it by the weekend.

Thank you mom, Thank you dad. And thank you Bitcointalk.
Congrats OP for having such supportive parents, not everyone is as lucky as you.
There are some who would support their child no matter how hard it is for them, they would still find a way to do it.
And also good luck on your Bitcoin or investor's journey, hope that you would also be successful so you could show your parents that their help to invest in crypto wasn't a waste of their hard earned money.
203  Economy / Economics / Re: One of the biggest problem in our society is that average person don't have on: December 14, 2023, 02:50:48 AM
Average person don't have access to capital flow.
And cryptocurrency should be working that way like the average person so everybody can have access to capital and make wealthy themselfes and family.
Now If you go to the bank to ask money even If they see you have good skills good knowledge they still don't give you If you not meet the criteria of requirements.
But to meet with those requirements it's allmost impossible. (The game is rigged)
And even If you get the funds you pay back with high % you end up just working for those who got money it's humilation but all they have done is just they been born into right family the upper class to get good education so they can be privileged and If you meet with them and talk many of them  they are not genius at all but what they have in common is that they want to get profit from someone else hard work and they can do that only because they are the very few people who got access to capital and most of the people don't.

I happened to watch "dragon den" show i see that people there they acting like big hedge funds does it so they just looking for people who want to be working for them for just little money what they offering so all those talented people will do the hard work and top on that they agree to get humilated on tv and then they will be working for capitalists, it's always easy to do business If you have access to capital and money that's the key to keep you poor.
With cryptocurrency everybody can access to endless liquity and finances and that's nice the average person without education or even financial background can earn money here without rigged rules or restrictions.

Let's cut the long story short the system doesn't serve us the way we can be wealthy.
Cryptocurrency is here no restrictions no limits and only your imagination how much you can earn.

It is all about skills and knowledge, it doesn't matter if you're in crypto or fiat, it doesn't change a thing if you lack of knowledge and skills you wouldn't be successful no matter what.
Business and investment needs to have proper knowledge and management in order to succeed, you also need to have consistency and determination.
There are so many proof that even if you are not born in a wealthy family you could bring out a wealthy family from you.
It is all about how you live your life, if you are contented to be on a 9 to 5 then that is all in there, but if you really want a better life for your family you would try to find a way even if you are working multiple job or doing some side lines.

205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be enough to buy 100 dollars worth of Bitcoin every month? on: December 13, 2023, 12:40:31 AM
I'm preparing for the college entrance exam to go to college, so I can't make money from working. I get about $100 of allowance from my father every month. I use all of them to buy bitcoin because I can use father's credit card for expenses such as food, clothes. I can buy Bitcoin on a satoshi basis every month, but when I see people buying Bitcoin basis on the internet, I feel like I'm too behind myself. Maybe they have a much higher income than me because they have a job. I think I can only invest $100 a month for the next year or two, would that be enough? I am worried about missing big bull market with halving and etf approval.
Only invest what you can afford, don't think about other people's investment.
There are some who might even have a hard time investing the amount that you could invest.
For me this is not a competition, we are investing for our future to have an easier life, the amount that others could invest doesn't need to bother you since we all have different lifestyle, and as you've mention you're a student while other's are already an employee.
There are also other investors who have a family so they couldn't invest much since they need to put food on their table, so be contented with how much you could invest, no matter how small it is it is still an investment.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon said he would close Bitcoin down if he was in government on: December 12, 2023, 12:57:27 AM
There is nothing new to it, Government or banks has always seen Bitcoin as a threat to them, that is why they want to put it down.
But look at it, Bitcoin is still here and it is even stronger and well known today compare to how it was before.
I guess it just goes to prove that good or bad publicity is still publicity, and those who bad mouthed Bitcoin or crypto before, just helped spread out the word about it.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 10, 2023, 08:43:15 PM
Hey house someone need a few clips here, don't know if a post of this exact nature has been discussed though.

In a situation where the both spouse are gamblers. Husband gambles, wife gambles, how can both of them manage the situation in terms of finance and the family affairs especially when children are now involve so that the time both spends on gambling doesn't affect family moments and affairs in general.

Would it help if  one of the couple quit for the other and if that's the case who should quit for who.
Both of them should quit and focus on their family, kids need both of their parents attention.
And as soon as their is a child involve their life should already be changed they should already have a bigger picture for their family.
How they would manage their funds and their time to bond with their child, instead of gambling they should play or pay attention with their family.
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Selling All Fiat In Bank For BTC? on: December 09, 2023, 04:08:01 PM
So I have heard a lot of people say this.  Such that they are going to withdraw all of their money from the bank and buy BTC.  And things like will sell their car and house and possessions and all that to buy btc.  Many say they will do this and be all in with BTC so to speak.

First off, this doesn't make any sense.  You have to have fiat so you can spend it on food and fiat in the bank to pay for bills and property taxes if you own a house etc.  So when people say they are all in on BTC, they obviously still mean enough cash in the bank for your basic bills things?  Like they still have at least 2k usd or 5k usd or 10k usd in the bank?  Or for people with lot of money, well still at least 500k usd in the bank right etc?

Now say someone has 50k in the bank.  Say their house is worth 500k and they sell that.  Well if they do, let say they have around 525k in the bank after taxes for selling their house.  That person owns nothing else.  Well you going to have to rent an apartment since you need a place to stay.  So how can this person even be all in with BTC then?  I mean they surely will still have at least 50k in the bank still like previously right?  But now that 475k or so from the proceeds of selling the house will be sent to an exchange to buy like 10 btc?  So this person's net worth now in terms of btc to their cash would literally be like almost 90%.  Isn't this very risky for someone who converts cash to crypto in terms of risk?

Of course it is just figurative speech, there is only few country that you could live with only crypto or Bitcoin.
You would still need to have money for your necessities, and the risk that they are taking are all for the long term profit, their net worth could go down a few when they convert their assets into crypto, but they are doing it for a long term investment.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can old generation cause the habit of gambling in young generation ? on: November 28, 2023, 07:20:25 AM
Young generations or kids would copy what old people shows them or act in front of them, so yes gambling or discussing about gambling would somehow lead to it.
It is also their guardians or parents job to make sure that the kids or young generations know that there are things that old people tend to do that could be bad for them.
Sometimes even if they are in a bad environment kids or young generations only needs a good role model to understand the difference between good and bad habits that could destroy their future or health.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Holders Hesitant to Sell Despite Price Surge on: November 27, 2023, 10:51:44 AM
We all have our own reason why we hold or sell our crypto, and for those who choose to hold it maybe they are waiting for much bigger picture.
Halving is just a couple months away so maybe it is their reason why they choose to hold it instead of taking their profit when the price increaased.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to fulfill my mother's dream of building a house with Bitcoin. on: November 21, 2023, 02:09:15 AM
It is easy to make a plan, making it happen is the hard part.
Only few could stick to their plan because after a couple of days or months they would stop on doing their plan, I just hope that this wouldn't happen on OP.
And also for OP you need to manage your funds well in order to make your mother's dream come true, if you would work and save and invest at the same time I believe that you could achieve it, but don't rely too much on crypto you also need to have a regular income to support your needs.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important for gambling success? on: November 19, 2023, 10:43:02 PM
I have the believe that success in gambling requires a mixture of luck and skill. This is opposed to some people that believe that gambling is entirely a game of luck and others who believe it is entirely a game of skill.

So I am tempted to inquire if skill is all that is needed to be successful in gambling or luck. Whichever be the option, which of them is the most important factor for gambling success?
First of what kind of gambling are we talking here because for me if it is betting, and card games then you would need both luck and skill to be successful on it.
But there are games that doesn't really require skills and those games only need luck and proper management of funds.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: November 17, 2023, 12:49:27 AM
How will you feel if someone you know or just a friend of a friend walk up to you and ask you to finance them in gambling in exchange for a portion of their winnings? Does this even make any sense?

Because the only place this makes a bit sense is the skills base niche like forex trading or crypto trading, how can gambling/gambler be financed?

Have you heard of such before? What is the end result if you have?

Why would you trust anyone to gamble better than you can when it's all about luck?

Is anyone doing this on here?

Someone explained this to me, and I believe he is already a victim because to me it doesn't make sense, I believe he is been used because he lacks knowledge about gambling, do you think my judgment is wrong?

Why would you even finance them?
They would just play with your money then what? if they lose that's it but if they win they earn from your money?
Seriously, what's the point of doing it if you could also gamble on your own.
They are just using the financers money and there is nothing on it for them there is no risk for them,
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: November 15, 2023, 02:15:18 AM
It would depend on how addicted the person is, if they are very addicted to it that it is on their mind most of the time then it would really be hard for them to quit, but if they are just playing for fun then they could just seek for other things that would fill up their needs or entertainment.
Quitting on something not just gambling would take time and effort and of course consistency, so it would all end up on the person's dedication.
215  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: November 14, 2023, 12:31:38 AM
Some times it isn't called being rich but being irresponsible or doesn't manage their money properly.
I know some people who does that and they would sometimes borrow money just to make it till their next pay day.
Sometimes even if you have the money you need to know if the product is overpriced or is it really worth it.
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wedding expenses and party celebrations with Bitcoin money. on: November 12, 2023, 03:26:17 PM
First of all, congratulation on both of your achievement; earning in crypto (Bitcoin) and being married.
I think most of us would agree that it would always be one of the happiest day of our life when we finally get to be tied up with the ones that we love.
To officially be announced as husband and wife and to start your own family.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sad reality: some countries gamble more than they can afford on: November 11, 2023, 12:21:30 AM
For me the country or place where a gambler lives doesn't affect it, it is on how they control their greed it doesn't matter if their rich or poor.
If they couldn't control their greed then it how it would always be they would always gamble more than they could afford.
Investment and gambling they all comes down to how you manage or control your funds, if you couldn't manage it properly then the result is always the same/
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment, Beyond "Invest What You Can Afford to Lose" on: November 10, 2023, 02:27:11 AM
I also want to put more into crypto but I don't really want to suggest it to others since it could destroy their life.
We don't know how they would take our advice, and some might really invest more than what they could afford, and we all know that crypto or bitcoin is volatile so it might end up the other way around.
There are times that people would take our advice seriously specially when they see how much we gain from doing it, and the result might be different for them so I don't want to make investment advice so lightly.
219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you cope with those around you not believing in you for choosing Bitcoin? on: November 08, 2023, 01:42:21 AM
I just ignore them, either they believe me or not shouldn't affect it.
For me as long as you are doing what you want and it makes you happy and you got some people who supports you that is all that matters.
Funny how there are times that stranger would support or believe on you and those who are close or your relatives wouldn't even care about it.
I think some small business owner's had experience it, most of their supporters or buyers are people who they didn't really know.
220  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 07, 2023, 12:54:28 AM
AI could take care some of our work to make it easier for us, but they couldn't really take over everything.
Who would maintain them and fixed them when there is a bug on their system?
Even if they could fixed it on their own there are jobs that only humans could do properly compared to letting AI do it.
