421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Awareness needed, 100$ or Bitcoin??? on: February 22, 2023, 01:11:48 PM
Came across this video in which a person questions whether they prefer to take 100$ or Bitcoin. The kids never took time, all of the sudden chosen 100$. I'm not specific about the location this had taken place, but it looks like they're are Western people. This makes me think, awareness is not upto the mark and in all means we need to educate people. Even the Western young generation unaware of it is really unbelievable.

100$ or Bitcoin
Even though that it is scripted and most see it as stupid or dumb video, it is still frustrating and funny to watch.
But for real this video made me realize that most of us would really pick the choice that we think that is much better than the other one and in real life most of us are foolish enough to do it not knowing the worth of the other options that we have.
We tend to settle for what we think that is good for us not knowing that there are better options out there.
422  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Women with disabilities and sexuality on: February 21, 2023, 06:55:10 PM
Because I'm sure men with disabilities tend to find sexual satisfaction easily. The question is has society ever been fair to women with disabilities sexually?
How can you say "men with disabilities tend to find sexual satisfaction easily?"
It's easier for women IMO, both with or without disabilities. The difference is that men are less bitching about their hardships.
Men have to get hard and pump, that's difficult for people in a wheelchair.

There are women (with disabilities) who are happy with their sexual life and those who aren't. Life isn't fair, and you'll get nowhere complaining about fairness and society. Those who aren't "lucky" should reflect on what's wrong before complaining about society.
I also agree with this men have it harder when it comes to sexual activities.
I read this on social media "Women F*ck who they want, men f*ck who they can" and for me it is true.
Most of the time woman could flirt or do what they want but for men they could only do it on who wants them.
423  Economy / Economics / Re: To cut financial ties with original family benefits you in the long run on: February 21, 2023, 01:17:30 PM

Most of us are born in a normal family. By normal, I mean we are nurtured and raised by healthy parents and they are still active when we graduate from college and start working. In many countries where economy has been hit by the COVID and affliated incidents, life has been harder than before and many have to choose to live with or at least ask help from their parents. From parents pespective, I believe as long as they are able to help, most likely they will be willing to help, because they love you. From children's perspective, I think this may solve some realistic problems in the short term, but in the long run, this will damage the creativity and motivation to face life challenges and harm the ability to manage finances, especially if you are a man. I say this because a lot of the friends from my generation are struggling financially now because they have been dependent on their parents and even after getting married and establishing a new family, they took a regular amount of money from their parents to pay off mortgages or cover other expenses. They've never thought about having another stream of income or one day their parents may not be making money and instead need money and care from them. A lof of hidden problems are there but just ignored. In my opinion, the earlier you become independent financially, the more likely you will be living a comfortable life with your finances. Better to know this and be prepared, if you are young.
I think it depends on the family most of the families here in the Philippines is exactly the opposite of what you mention.
It is the parents who depends on their children they raise them as a retirement fund their son or daughter would work and most of the time they are obliged to support their parents.
I am not saying that this is done by all but I am sure most people in the Philippines experience it.
It isn't bad thing if their kids are willing to help but the problem is some of them are forced because of some parents who would compute how much they've spend raising their kids and all of their sacrifice.
424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there age limits to Bitcoin investment? on: February 21, 2023, 12:32:47 PM
I was actually wondering if there are any restrictions on age as to investing in Bitcoin?
I read threads where people have constantly introduced Bitcoin to their underaged children (10years below) and I really don't think it's necessary because I feel those kids still have some mental growth  to do and since Bitcoin is a very volatile digital asset, I think children shouldn't be made to go through such stress.
Same thing also applies to the elderly as I've also read news of people trying to get some retirees investing their pensions into crypto rather than advising them to relax and enjoy their pension and I really wanted to know if it's wise to get kids and elderly into the crypto industry.
Nope there is no age limit on crypto everyone is free to use it and due to it's anonymity we couldn't know about the people who are involved in it.
I know some people in crypto who has been around since their early teens year and now they have been successful.
It would all depends on how they handle it we all know that not everyone is made or build for investment.
For me age doesn't define them it is how they handle their investment it doesn't matter if their kids or elderly if they could handle it well then why should we complain and it is all their money.
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to surprise a friend on: February 20, 2023, 11:03:24 PM
Is Bitcoin a perfect birthday present for a 25 years old college student? I want to surprise a friend, he is facing a lot of challenges due to his studies and he likes Bitcoin but can't afford investing money because of his studies since he is sponsoring himself, we've been together since 2011 and his birthday is on 27th of this month, do you think 0.03BTC is a cool present 🎁 for a birthday.

Would you love to accept Bitcoin as a Birthday Gift?
It depends on the person who would receive it, there are some people who would like to receive money on their Birthdays some would prefer a real present like how it was before.
But you already mention that your friend is into crypto but doesn't have enough money to invest  just on that note you should already know the answer to your question.
Base on your words I think it wouldn't just be money for him it is something that could start up his crypto journey and somehow change shis life.
426  Economy / Economics / Re: Are people really having the wrong concept of savings? on: February 20, 2023, 07:26:29 PM
"Are people really having the wrong concept of savings?" This topic and question was triggered earlier this morning after writing on two separate threads where it seems people are already misunderstanding the concept of saving
saving according to Google search from Banco Central de la República Argentina |
"Saving is the portion of income not spent on current expenditures. In other words, it is the money set aside for future use and not spent immediately."
The word "use"(spend) is the key word of concentration because it seems people talk so much of savings as if one isn't supposed to use their saving even until death and I began to wonder what the purpose of saving really is.
We ought save money so money will save us and some also say that we out to save for raining days and we should know that out raining days might differ and one should be free to use their savings and not feel they're doing something wrong when using their hard earned savings.
 What's your concept of savings?
For me when I am saving up money I already set up my goal for it on how much I would save, how long and where I would spend it.
There are times that the timeframe would changed due to unforseen events but that doesn't mean that I should quit.
For me when I hear that word it means that the person saving wants something that they currently can't buy so they need to save for it.
But there are also different kind of savings those who would save up for future expenses like medical bills but for me I call it emergency funds not savings.
427  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: February 20, 2023, 06:13:56 PM
Yes it is a waste of money specially if you could have your own in any means like what OP has talked about (House Loan).
But for us who doesn't have enough money I see it as something like food and water it is necessary needs of us humans to have a safe place to stay.
To be honest I agree with OP if you already have a partner that has been living with you and helping you with everything you should consider settling down and buying your own house even if it ia through a loan, Just think about it if you would take a loan for a house you would pay for it monthly or every salary that you would get just like renting a house but at the end of it that house would be yours.
428  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: February 16, 2023, 11:03:40 PM
If Bitcoin crash down today it wouldn't really affect me much since I only invest what I could, I didn't put up too much to it and I didn't depend too much on it.
It would only affect my side hustle but it wouldn't affect my main source of income.
429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get Bitcoin Holdings for your child from infant. on: February 16, 2023, 06:40:15 PM
It was my plan to invest for my child's future and I have been in crypto for so many years, and for me it is really a great idea instead of just saving money why not invest it on crypto for their future.
The only downside that I see on it is that we are uncertain about how it would be in the future. We know that it could survive in the long run but we are uncertain if it would still be legal since other are connecting it to some illegal activities.
430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know your limit on: February 15, 2023, 06:47:02 PM
Avoid ending up like a friend, who used all the money he has to invest in bitcoin and also took a loan, promising the lender that he will pay back when he gets paid in a month, after a month he never received the salary, I warned him doing this, because he has no doubt mixed investment with 'whatever it takes', is it safe to call this greed? I don't know.

Now he wants me to lend him some money to at least pay the loaner back and later settle me, there is more, now I have to send him some money to buy some food.

You don't have to use all your money to invest, even if you are not married yet or have other responsibilities, the best approach when planning to invest in Bitcoin is to buy with some percentage of the money you earning, maybe through business or a job.

If you do this weekly or monthly you won't feel any pressure, always remember that health is wealth.

This is like an addiction your friend destroyed his life with his greed or obsession.
And you supporting him could be considered like you are tolerating his addiction.
I know that you just want to help your friend on his darkest time but you should also know how to limit on how you help him.
This is a great example for all of those who want to invest in crypto to invest only what you could afford.
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin (food for table) on: February 14, 2023, 06:35:14 PM
Bitcoin indeed save so many people from starving it became a source of income for most of us, specially when pandemic strikes.
Most people lost their jobs and earn through crypto.
And I could say that I am part of those who survived because of crypto.
432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very thankful for what bitcoin has done for me. on: February 14, 2023, 12:12:31 PM
Bitcoin has brought so much more meaning into my life.

Years ago when I thought the system had me and I wasn't making any money I fell upon bitcoin. At first, I was there for just the monetary gain but then I after I realized that bitcoin gives you your time back I discovered ways to hustle harder and stack my time with btc. Long story short I am able to work remotley and live anywhere and be happy with what I have because I know without bitcoin I would never have this life. Thank you satoshi Smiley
Cryptocurrency has changed so many lives, and I am proud to say that I am one of those who experienced it.
It help me a lot before, I've earned an amount that I have never even dream of holding.
But there are some things that could make you fall down and I am trying to get back to the life that crypto has given me before.
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have life span? on: February 13, 2023, 11:30:56 PM
Bitcoin is digital currency and it have influence over the nations which many people have queue up for it's technology, my major challenges I'm having and i do meditate seriously and have more concerned over it, is that Bitcoin does it have life span to be varnish or not be recognize again when time comes? Or Bitcoin is going to be a continuous process of digital currency. Referring Gold as a digital currency and others digital currencies that has being into existence before arrival of Bitcoin, their no longer existing and now Bitcoin has taken ground of other digital currencies. Will the technology of bitcoin continue in future time.
Bitcoin doesn't have a lifespan, it is just like any other investment or currency, as long as it have a value and have a demand from the market then it would continue to live.
Other crypto or project are considered dead because investors and even their team left their project and it doesn't have a value.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helped my neighbor to purchase some Bitcoins on: February 13, 2023, 06:50:10 PM
There are people for whom the only way they have heard about crypto currency is from being referred to an airdrop by friends or through online ads, and this is my neighbor, who is one of them. I live in a rented apartment where others are also living. There is this guy who is kind of close to me. I'm always active online with either my phone or computer, which always made him ask me questions like, "What are you always busy doing online with your phone or computer?" Abi you don they do fraud?" I told him I'm a Bitcoiner, and I am also learning online. has ask how can he become a holder, I told him it's simple but the risk is huge. made him understand that holding Bitcoin is simple, but the risk of losing your starting capital is high, and that before you can consider buying and holding Bitcoin, you should prepare your mind to count loss sometimes, which can later turn to profit if you don't sell out of panic. Ask him to go and think about it first before rushing into it, and when he has come to a conclusion and is ready to accept the risk and take responsibility for anything himself, he should let me know.

Yesterday, while watching a Manchester United match together, he brought out the topic again and told me he had some spare cash he was willing to risk, which he called a "bold step."
Today I helped him purchase bitcoin using Binance P2P, and it was a success. The crypto was deposited into his funding wallet. since he was already participating in airdrops and had a crypto wallet on his phone. I asked him to copy out all the phrases from the old wallet into his mobile wallet and back it up in a safe place where he would be the only one to access it. When he was done, I asked him to wipe the app data, and the mobile wallet was as clean as a new wallet. switch off the internet connection and create a new wallet again. After the successful creation of the wallet, I asked him to write down the new phrase and safe-keep it again, which he did successfully. We then generated a new Bitcoin address, which was used to withdraw the purchased Bitcoin to his private wallet, over which he has control.
He asked me why not just leave the coin on Binance so that when ever he wants to sell it, he can just use the same method; that's when I brought to his notice "Not your key, not your coin," and he was convinced.

Good thing that you open up all the important things before your friend got any trouble in crypto.
You mention the risk and what to expect on crypto unlike others who would just show the bright side of crypto investment.
You also taught your friend how to manage the fund by putting it on a wallet that he/she have a 100% control.
Most of the newbies doesn't have that kind of friend or teacher when it comes to crypto, so Kudos for it.
435  Economy / Economics / Re: Untouchable Savings: Do you have it? on: February 12, 2023, 03:09:08 PM
Unfortunately I don't have that kind of saving, and honestly even my small investment would be touched or spend sometimes whenever there is an emergency.
If I would ever have a chance I want it to be an untouchable investment in crypto,
I love to achieve that kind of investment when I could just hold it for a long period of time and it wouldn't matter if the price goes down or up since I am aiming for the long run.
436  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: February 11, 2023, 09:39:04 PM

How do we survive food shortages? Easy solution. Try tilling the ground to grow your own food and be self sufficient.
Food shortages is on the increase in an alarming rate and coupled with the recent events involving Ukraine and Russia as well as the steady warming of the earth, it’s only getting worse.
Ideally, the easiest way out of all this is to get a piece of land and cultivate your own foods. That way, you would be self sufficient as well as having some cash crops to put some money in your pockets along the way.

This is easier said than done especially when you are living in an area where there is no space to grow your own food.  This is applicable to people who are living with huge backyards but most who are in urban area has very limited space so you cannot apply this kind of solution in the said area.  Besides not many people can afford to get a piece of land.

[1] https://www.outdoorhappens.com/how-to-prepare-for-food-shortage/

If people really want to they could do it, they only need small space for small pots to plant vegetables.
I've seen an apartment before that have pots of eggplants and some veggies that hasn't grown yet so I am unsure what other veggies it might be infront of their apartment.
The only downside that I see on this is that it would take time but at least you know that what you would eat is freshly harvest by yourself.
But I agree with stocking some instant foods and rice.
437  Economy / Economics / Re: Keeping money and keeping bitcoins? are they similar? on: February 11, 2023, 07:04:48 PM
I think there is a huge difference between the two of them.
For me when you keep your money (Fiat) it is like saving it, but when you keep your Bitcoin (crypto) it is an investment.
Investment and savings are not the same, investment gives you profit or could lessen your capital if it isn't working well.
438  Economy / Economics / Re: Monthly or weekly pay? Fixed or percentage earning? what is your prefrence. on: February 10, 2023, 06:54:36 PM
There are two categories of people when it comes to the choice of when to receive payment for work. There is the category that prefers it be paid weekly so they can off set bills as they come so they do not become a burden, while there is the category that prefers it monthly so they can plan well for the month.

If employers put out the option before you to either to be paid weekly or monthly for your job, which will you prefer? Please give reasons asides the ones I have stated to support your answer.

Would you prefer to be a contract staff for a company that is being paid a certain percentage for every job delivered, or would you prefer a job with a fixed monthly or weekly income? (Give a reason for your answer aside the reason that will be stated)

With percentage earnings, you can earn more and you will be very motivated to work, but the disadvantage will be when there is no job.
With Fixed earnings, you are sure of what to receive, but sometimes the workload you may encounter may be so much that the salary you are paid does not befit the work you put in.

Fixed monthly salary,
To be honest here I am receiving my salary every 15th and end of the month and due to that kind of payment, I tend to spend more because I know that my salary would just take a couple of days.
I don't manage my Salary that well and have small saving because of it.
I just feel that if it would be monthly I would pay more attention on how I spend it.
But of course it is all up to us on how we manage our money.
439  Economy / Economics / Re: A steady source of income is a man's bottom line to support his family on: February 10, 2023, 01:16:05 PM
Without a steady source of income how do you think that their Family could survive?
Even if you have a huge amount of money if your not using it wisely to have an income it would just drain up from all the food and bills for your family.
I've been there and done that it doesn't really work out unless you would have a passive or steady source of income.
440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What most gamblers do. on: February 10, 2023, 11:20:58 AM
I want to ask a question. And I need serious answer from this forum, and my question is WHY DOES A GAMBLER DON'T HAVE A SAVINGS.
In my country (Nigeria) there are many gamblers who don't have savings and it isn't help matters at all. Most of these gamblers can't afford for there families but they can afford money they will use to gamble. So why are they not having savings that they can use to help there families in time of lack. Like they said, we save money so money can save us tomorrow. But these gamblers doesn't know that.
Isn't it obvious? They prioritize their gambling addiction more than anything?
They might be aware of it but their addiction is too strong for them to control.
This is a typical stories of a gambling addict most of the time they would just destroy or hurt their families and it would be too late for them to realize it, and it is not only their family that is being destroyed here it is also their life.
