381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC needed for retirement in 10 years? on: March 22, 2023, 05:47:51 PM
It would depend on how much Bitcoin would worth after 10 years and of course the cost of living.
If you would also retire then it is better to look for passive income to support you on your bills and all of the things you need.
So we couldn't really say how much Bitcoin or crypto we need for retirement in 10 years because the cost of living and Bitcoin price are constantly changing.
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Given an option between Bitcoin and Fiat which do you prefer? on: March 21, 2023, 09:47:53 PM
We cannot compare the two of them since they are both different when it comes to people's perspective.
Fiat is the money that we are using for our expenses while crypto is being used or seen as an asset or investment.
Others do consider crypto as money and use it to pay whatever they want but that doesn't apply to everyone of us.
Even if crypto could be used or accept as a payment method not everyone would use it as a payment option.
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: this is, how easy it is to scam people on: March 21, 2023, 05:30:40 PM
i uploaded an awesome bitcoin profile picture on instagram, 3 days ago,
but today a lady contacted me by Dm "hi" - "you know about bitcoin?" - "I am new to bitcoin", "can you guide me to make money from it "
she don't want to learn anything just wanted to make money out of bitcoin, her knowledge about bitcoin is very very less, she only knew the name "bitcoin"
she was talking like "bitcoin=money"
I said i can guide you to learn about bitcoin,
i said bitcoin is like digital money, you can buy it at a specific price and sell it at higher price when price will rise , this is how the money made from it .
i said this because she only wanted to make money, i don't talked about much stuff.
she said "i am following a bitcoin expert" , just a instagram account holder with some trading charts  posted ,
i said ,you have an exchange account
she said 'what is meant by exchange",
i said exchange where you can buy cryptocurrency, exchanges like binance, kucoin, etc.
she said "oh, i am with binance "
she does not know anything about binance and basic terms just made an account following her mentor.
she is so dumb to scam her.

https://ibb.co/Y3cf3TT

i sometime think why people do this type of dumb mistakes , now i knew there knowledge about technology ,
they just come to make money and get scammed.
ignore my terrible english

This isn't new in crypto trading, most of their victims are newbie's and those who have low knowledge about it.
To be honest I also received some tempting message below asking for help to withdraw their money on a certain trading site, and when I do some background check on the site and the wallet information that has been sent by those scammer I found out that it is just a way to scam.
They showed that on the trading site they have a huge balance and you just need to deposit a certain amount to withdraw it.
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing bitcoin to local communities/villagers on: March 20, 2023, 09:56:34 PM
Folks, my village is too poor and local, no beauty, no good living. Each time I remember them, I shed tears because nothing enticing about us. Our father's need help, our mother's sold leafs and fruits for survival, children are unhealthy, youths are uneducated and jobless, there is no good communication network in my communities, government never cares about us, is been ages of living like the bushmen and massacre.

I've being thinking about what to do, am not a politician, I don't access to money and power to change anything. So we came up with an ideas about a year now, me and some old graduates doing nothing. That before we vote any politician into power again, there must be a network communication system in our communities, by God we achieved that last year on our effortlessly ideas. One particular network was initiated.

But since we have network, the standard of living is still the same. Though villagers start buying cell phones, android and all. I thought it wise to go and introduce bitcoin trading system to them, we were given the permission by village elders, we pay town cryer to go round the village and beats bell drum and passed the message for everyone to gather at the village square and the turn up was amazing, unexpected crowd because we invited some city friends who into crypto as gurus and villagers love to see people from city how they look like.

We commence teaching with practical steps with those who have android phones, interpreting it in our dialect for everyone's understanding. From the pictures you can see mother's, father's, children and youths came there but our target is for the youths to understand digital trading system that requires no formal education and it's was greats. We want the parents to encourage them and support them with the little money them make from farm product sales.

I promised the communities to do this with them as many times as we can to enabled everyone learns something outside education. Believe me folks, anybody can touch lives with your gifts, skills and talents. Everybody was following and celebrating as a new light of the village.

God is awesome.

I know your intention is good and it is to help them earn,
But have you think of the effect?
What would happen if their investment or trading didn't work?
Instead of gaining they could lose those money that they worked hard just to trade?
It is better to let them learn and show them the risk it doesn't always end well in trading, not all of us are meant for it.
385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how much money is considered as "invest only what you can afford to lose" on: March 20, 2023, 08:38:49 PM
For me when we say invest only what you could afford to lose, it means your excess money, the money that you don't need or would just use on your own enjoyment or something useless.
I am talking about the money that is left on your account after paying all the necessary thing and bills after settling everything that needs to be settled.
It doesn't really matter if your gaining small profit or not just accumulate all of it and reinvest, it is better that way than to ruin your life by risking it all.
386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think that there are Dark secrets in every Successful Business on: March 20, 2023, 06:13:34 PM
Well it is true and I think most of us are aware of it, I mean some success came from dark secrets.
But we couldn't say that all of those success have dark secret or stories some might be a result from their hard work and high understanding on how business should be handle.
Not everyone needs those kind of connection in order to succeed.
387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Physical gambling and internet gambling which is more fun. on: March 19, 2023, 11:57:24 PM
We all have different opinion when it comes to having fun.
Some would prefer physical since they could do it with their friends to hang out, some would enjoy playing solo or alone.
For me it also depends on my mood if I want to hang out with my friends and have some casual bets with cards or just play alone in the internet search for fun gambling games that could entertain me.
388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the Strangest Bet You Have Ever Had? on: March 19, 2023, 08:00:26 PM
My siblings and I often bet on commercial ads on TV when we were young.
It could be more time on playing PS1 or which channel to watch next.
LOL it was the very first form of bet or gambling that I've done and I could remember.
389  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too late to start? on: March 19, 2023, 05:54:33 PM
Hi!

I have heard about Bitcoin back in 2017 but never got to learn regarding about it. I always thought that crypto was a fluke and that it would definitely not be a type of transaction until pandemic happens. So, as the title would suggest, is it too late to start investing on crypto? And if not, what would be the essentials to learn on working on it?

Thanks in advance!
For me it is never too late to start your crypto journey, this isn't a race.
You should invest when your ready and know how things work, don't just go in because of FOMO most of the time those investors only ends up losing their investment when the hype ends or the market starts to go down or have a correction.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stay humble and go your own way (invest in yourself) - the best strategy of 2022 on: March 18, 2023, 10:46:39 PM
Yup best advice and reminder for everyone of us, and it took me 3 months to start investing on myself, now I am starting new hobbies and planning to stay fit and healthy.
Health is wealth so don't just focus on material things or money, take care of your health as much as you could.
Try to live or work not just to pay bills but also for a brighter future.
391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most of the world population involved in gambling on: March 18, 2023, 08:40:29 PM
How true is this?
Sometimes I found it's arguably, most time not reason being that out of the world populations 60% to 80% of it dominance and occupancies love sports and you know what this mean, 30% out of the 70% love gaming.

Now let say something very striking

Sports creates ways for gambling
Gaming gives raise to gambling

This simply means there is no way the world can be divided into two or three equal parts without finding that people gambles regularly and almost everyone is involved one way or the other, from my research on gambling it has been existing right from Origin of man.

Result from wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambling#History
Everyone Gambles, it's just that some don't consider it as gambling when they are taking a risk in order to achieve what they want, but it is already a form of gambling no one in this world could say that they never gamble in their life, because it is part of us, we risk something in order to get what we want.
392  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: March 18, 2023, 06:08:57 PM
Nope Bitcoin could only help but it couldn't end poverty in a nation.
Not eveyone could earn from crypto and it is the reality,
If they could invest a small amount do you expect them to make a big profit? that doesn't work that way and many things could affect their investment since we are talking about poor?
They don't have enough money and struggling to survive so if any unexpected things happen they would need those investment no matter what peice it is (Gain or Loss) they would sell it.
393  Other / Off-topic / Re: A word of motivation on: March 17, 2023, 01:40:12 AM
It is great to see some who would share those kind of achievement's.
Most of the time only those who have such great success in crypto are being talked.
Big gains or wins, we should also be thankful to this kind of gains from crypto, even the small things that we bought from our profit we should be proud on it.
Most of the time when people heard or know that you had been in crypto for a long period of time they would think that you already had so much profit or money from it, but in reality some of us doesn't have those kind of successful stories.
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Word of encouragement for Bitcoin investors on: March 16, 2023, 09:50:11 PM
Just keep in mind that crypto could always drop down and fly high, as a crypto investor you shoul be prepared for those rollercoaster rides.
And I agree with OP long term investment should be done by the money that you don't need in the near future or your extra money.
People tends to be greedy on crypto that they would invest or risk more than they could afford, that is why when things got a bit shaken they are too scared of it and jump off making them lose instead of gaining profit from their investment.
395  Other / Off-topic / Re: A burden I bear within. on: March 16, 2023, 06:01:46 PM
I have some sort of burden within my mind and I don't know how to go about it and with the kind of approach I should use to initiate a dialogue and be sure of being given a paid attention to what u have to say. Alright, this is it...
Am one folk from a polygamous family. My Dad (now late) married three wives of which things seemed to have been going smoothly among the wives and we the children from different mothers while Dad was alive, but an unfortunate events sets in disrupting the peace immediately after Dad's death. More than a year now we all of different mothers have not being in talking terms owing to inheritance issues that sets in. But this isn't what burdens me at the moment.

The actual burden is that, for the past months now I noticed how my other brothers some who are not yet engaged with a any payable job at the moment struggling through with some difficulty catering for their selves based on how harsh the economic situation in the country current is. And I have been wanting to talk to them about bitcoin currency and perhaps bitcointalk forum too, but  hey,  my fears is that they might not give me audience based on how things are within the family. Not that  my awareness and familiarity with bitcoin as a digital currency has made me rich but at least to a notable extent despite with the associated risk involved it has really been profitable to me financially through which I have used to finance and pay some bills. And in same vein I feel it could be helpful too to them knowing and taking part in it. Of which I'll gladly guide them through to the best of my ability about the process.     I don't propose to convince them into buying the idea but I only intend presenting it to them and the decision to get along is completely left with each one of them.

But the emphasis here is my fear on how to approach them and engage them in the discussion that their attention would be deeply captured to give me a listening ears to what I have in mind since we're currently not in good talking terms due the family issues on ground.
What do you guys propose I do or how to go about it!. Or should I just look the other way!
It is hard to start a normal conversation to a family member that you have been distant to, specially when it also involves money or way of earning.
There are times that they would feel somehow disrespected even though it is not your intention,
For me the best way for it is by sharing it through your social media you could post on how to earn online something like that, and if they like your idea they are the ones who would initiate the conversation.
I've done this before I don't want to directly invite my family members into crypto so I shared some cryptocurrency related post, then some of my auntie and even cousin's ask me about it.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when people tells their story on bitcoin on: March 15, 2023, 11:59:00 PM
It would depend on stories that I would hear or read,
If those are great achievements then, most of the time I would be inspired and try to achieve my goals as hard as I could.
If those are failed investment or somehow funny experience that I could relate on then I would just laugh it out.
But most of the stories that I hear or read about crypto are their achievements and how crypto changed their life those stories really inspired me and drive my eagerness to invest and do much more in crypto to be successful like them and also experienced telling my great achievement some day.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which kind of situation will force you to sell? on: March 14, 2023, 10:02:30 PM
People actually claim to be strong holders that can go against any situation wanting them to sell off some of their bitcoins. The strongest of holders do not just sell at the slightest economic discomfort I know, but I believe everybody has a threshold at which if the pressure surpasses them, they would break into the decision of selling some of their bitcoins to sort the present condition. What kind of situation do you think is enough to pressure you in seeling some of the bitcoins you have been holding. Is family or health challenge enough reason to?
Anytime that I would face some financial problem and I don't have other choice then that is the situation that would force me to sell some of my crypto.
It doesn't matter if it is family or health issue as long as I don't have any other choice to provide I would sell to survive.
I would hold my crypto as much as I could as long as I could, but when the time comes that I don't have any way to survive or surpass the situation without selling my crypto then I would just sell it.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 14, 2023, 05:33:01 PM

We know gold is very precious metal, but Bitcoin is much more expensive than gold. Bitcoin will cross $100k after halving in 2024 ie if I invest $3000 in Bitcoin now then there is a chance of getting 10x after 2024. If I get $30000 from investing $3000, nothing can be as valuable as Bitcoin. I explained this formula to my wife at night and she was not willing to give me her jewelery at first but today she told me by herself that you can sell my jewelery and invest in Bitcoin. At present I am forced to sell my wife's jewelery as I have no fiat money.
I seek advice from expert investors/holders/users of this forum,,,,
whether selling my wife's jewelery and investing on bitcoins makes sense?
Is it reasonable to invest in gold rather than bitcoin?
The question here is does your wife agree with this?
It is her jewelry and she might consider it as something more valuable than money because of the memories that she had on those jewelry.
There are times that money couldn't overvalue those things so you should also consider it.
For me if it is about the money then it could be worth it, but if it would somehow wreck your relationship then it is not worth the risk.
399  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and Rich on: March 14, 2023, 11:10:59 AM
We all know the quote "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" I heard this quote when I was in high school now I'm grown up. I always wondering why?

Is it that the rich have already wealth the day they are born? Have savings and investment?

While the poor doesn't have any of those?

The point is I started in low before having some savings and investment. I'm not saying I'm already rich but I can say that I'm better than before. Can you guys share your ideas with this topic.
It's all about how you manage your time and money.
I've read it before that rich get richer because of the way they think and manage their money (investment, business and doesn't spend much on un necessary things) while poor get's poorer because they live above their means, they spend more than what they really need buy things to look good.
There are people who are born poor but manage to make it rich and vise versa because of how they manage their time and money.
400  Economy / Economics / Re: Planning avoids unnecessary expenses on: March 13, 2023, 11:27:12 PM
I used to plan on how much I would spend back when I was younger, now that I am working and earning my own money it seems that I spend so much that I only have few money left before my next salary arrives.
I spend most of my money on food, I know some would think that it is just an excuse but when I am stressed out or feeling down food is the only thing that could make me feel good right now other than online games.
But I also want to go back to how well I handle or plan my money before it's just that it is so hard right now for me.
