281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dad's retirement money is invested in Bitcoin! on: June 12, 2023, 09:43:08 PM
I don't know how I make decisions as a boy.
My father is a military man. He has served in this military sector for 25 years. His term of service is almost at an end. After two months he was going to retire from the job. He will get retirement pension after his service life in the military sector and he has many plans based on this retirement pension.
His first dream is to build a house with this retirement money. But right now in my country all the materials needed to build a house are very expensive so building a house right now can't be a good decision. And I don't feel safe keeping his pension money in the bank because earlier there was inflation in my country where some banks went bankrupt.
So right now I am not able to give him any proper advice as a boy. But one thing I've been wondering for a few days is if I invest half of my father's retirement allowance in Bitcoin, am I doing something wrong?
I feel like if I invest half the amount in Bitcoin for a year after receiving his retirement allowance, I might be able to hand over more money to my dad at the end of the year.
Hope I get proper advice from you.
First of if you would invest his money shouldn't you tell him about it first?
It is his retirement money so he should be aware of it even if you have access to his money.
Investing it in Bitcoin isn't bad thing but at least let your father know and decide about it.
This should be discussed and decided with your family not with strangers or forum members.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The role of Bitcoin in eliminating unemployment in our country on: June 12, 2023, 12:10:08 PM
Nope, I don't think that it was created for that purpose.
For me it was created to give us freedom from centralized banks, it was created or anonymity so our credentials would be safe even if we would use it.
I also believe your point of view before, but in reality it is hard to make a living on it if you would consider being a trader, then you need another way to earn since there are times that you wouldn't earn since you would be forced to HODL.
283  Economy / Economics / Re: To Hodl or Lend: What is your take? on: June 11, 2023, 11:06:09 PM
I prefer to HODL my own coin rather to lend it to someone else, honestly speaking we are all aware that there are times that the borrower would have a hard time paying it up, so what would happen if you really need the money and the borrower really doesn't have the capability of paying it to that certain date?
It is better to have control on your own money and it also contradicts the most used phrase we used to tell the newbies on crypto "Not your keys, not your coin".
284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving out to promote Bitcoin on: June 11, 2023, 03:51:36 PM
Happy Easter everyone
Today I gave out $20 to 5 random high school students each in a WhatsApp group after of course enlightening them about Bitcoin and conducting a quiz for them I did this in hopes of trying to assist in developing the Bitcoin ecosystem although it's of small impact
I sent the Bitcoin to Thier noncustodial wallet and also enlightened them on how to manage Thier wallet
What do you think!?
I think that it was great experience for those students, they learned about crypto and at the same time they did earn from it.
Let's just hope that those $20 would be the start of their crypto journey and they would also succeed on it.
If I would ever do the same thing I would also tell them about pizza day or Laszlo Hanyecz to see if they would hold it or just spend it right away.
285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: European Sex Championship 😳, Will you Bet? on: June 09, 2023, 11:48:46 PM
LOL sex as a sport what would be next, various positions or oral would also be considered as a sport?
I don't really support this and hope that this is just a joke.
If they would consider this as a sport then watching pornography would only be considered as watching sports this idea really makes me laugh.
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend interested in investing in BTC but the friend's father does not agree on: June 09, 2023, 02:42:30 PM
If it is illegal in your country then I understand why the father is against investing on it.
It might be a good investment but being illegal and risking your life for it, I don't really think that it is worth the risk even though it would be hard for them to trace it or track you.
It would be safe for your friend if he is using offline wallets to keep his investment so there wouldn't be any information linking his/her personal information.
287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if they tried it on: June 09, 2023, 12:10:08 PM
What if the governments across the world attempted to seize all of your crypto assets like the US seized all gold from their citizens in the 1900s. Now I'm seeing articles talking about how the US government is trying to be able claim private property.

I think that ultimately this would be very challenging for any government to successfully accomplish. This would cause a revolutionary period again in our world I imagine....
How would they know if you have crypto, if you wouldn't declare it?
Or even if they know that you do have, how would they know if it is all that you got you could just surrender a small portion of it by dividing it to your other wallet and clean it through mixer.
So government that would do such thing would only waste their time.
288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are giving too much importance to exchanges on: June 08, 2023, 12:10:14 PM
~snip~
Exchanges and BTC are 2 different things. One exchange going down doesn't mean BTC must follow.
Binance will disappear? I don't give a damn.
Yup exchange and BTC are different things and exchange (Binance and other exchange would disappear) most of us wouldn't care much, but we aren't the only investor.
There are some who got into crypto because of trading, and they might be doing it only on those exchange because they only trust those exchange.
And besides some of us are using centralized to liquidate our crypto that's way some of us really care so much about those centralized exchanges.
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should cryptocurrency be banned in a country with a population of 240 million? on: June 07, 2023, 11:16:30 PM
Does the number of population matters in cryptocurrency?

Banning crypto in their country is their governments decision it really doesn't matter how many population do they have, just think about it everyone could know or earn in crypto with their internet so why does the number of population matters?
And besides even if they ban cryptocurrency how would they know if someone is earning or using it inside their area? there are so many ways to access it if you want to.
290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Committed Suicide After Losing School fees, And That Of Friend To Betting.. on: June 07, 2023, 09:46:09 PM
He should have seek for help base on the story their family has a power or their not poor they could afford to do some consultation for him.
And for I think if the parents are more connected to their child then they would have notice the problem, and they could have help him with it.
It isn't the first time that a person who has been in huge debt had taken their own life, or who has been addicted to something had done it.
But let's hope that those who are close to us would open up when they needed to talk and needed someone to be there for them.
291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers understood the game on: June 07, 2023, 12:16:17 PM
How many times have you successfully invited some gamblers to online casino? What is your experience doing so? I know many will find this hard to believe but I kinda prefer bringing in gamblers than investors into crypto, why? They understood the risk already, there is no talk and talk over again, there is no dealing with someone fear and confidence..
~snip~
Well I also feel the same way it is better that they know the risk than to keep on dreaming that crypto is a way to be an instant millionaire.
Most of the time when I am talking to newbie's in crypto they would just think that this is an easy way out, without understanding or acknowleding the risk due to the successful stories that they heard or read online.
292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Self custody will always win on: June 06, 2023, 10:59:16 PM
Not your key, not your coin.

We should always remember that phrase when it comes to crypto.
Anything could happen to those centralized or any exchange or online wallet so we should hold our own crypto to our own wallet that we have control of.
293  Economy / Economics / Re: Should you save, when you are wealthy? on: June 06, 2023, 12:09:30 PM
Saving money doesn't only apply for the unwealthy people but for all.
No matter how successful you are right now if you don't manage your money too well it would only last for a short time.
There are so many good example of it, there are so many successful people around the world that ends up losing it all.
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quick Bitcoin questions on: June 05, 2023, 08:30:58 PM
Why does it feels like Bitcoin is a better fit for store of value than a payment solution?

Is payment the substantial use case of crypto? If yes then where do you think Bitcoin stands? It cost me 0.20$ to make transactions on other payment solution that's not Bitcoin and it costs me over 1$ to make transaction with Bitcoin, isn't the cheaper always the better choice?

Since some crypto coins have cheaper transaction fee doesn't this make such coins a better fit for payment solution than Bitcoin?.and Bitcoin a better fit for store of value
Yes there are so many reason why people or Bitcoin user feel that way.
The transaction fee and of course the volatility of the price.
Being practical why would we choose to pay with crypto if we could do it with cash? unless of course there is a catch or a bonus for using it.
And of course most of us invested in Bitcoin to gain profit so those wouldn't really see it as a payment method.
295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The effect of Bitcoin on children on: June 05, 2023, 12:17:36 PM
I'm gonna bet $100 that this didn't really happen.
It is possible that this story is fictional. If the author confirmed the said photo of the BTC-logo on the sand, drawn by children, then there would be no doubts. @Fuso.hp said that there was no mobile connection in that place, but he had a phone with him, if he could determine this. If I was in that place at that moment and wanted to tell this story, I would definitely take a photo to support what was said with evidence.

Even if this story is true, drawing the BTC-logo by children means nothing. They can switch to other games the very next day and doesn't mean that they will become bitcoin-enthusiasts when they grow up. As children, many played pilots or sea captains. How many of you have become them now?
Well even if there is a photo we couldn't know if the story is true or not, OP could easily draw the logo in the sand and take a pic for a fake proof so it is really hard to determine.
But I agree that if this is true then for those kids it's just an art or drawing and they just like the logo so much.
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important is it to keep your bitcoin investments secret from others ? on: June 05, 2023, 11:13:10 AM
I think this has happened before and we have been reminded about this.
Bitcoin gave us anonymity to invest or use it, so why not use it that way?
We don't really need to publicizes it, it will only attract attention and might get us into trouble.
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does the world still see Bitcoin as a scam, or is it just a lack of interest? on: June 04, 2023, 09:50:18 PM
I think that it is really the lack of interest for most of the people who claims it as scam, it is easy to educate yourself about it on how Bitcoin or crypto works on how this investment or trading works.
But they just want to ignore it and think of it as a scam because they don't want to acknowledge it, they don't want to waste their time studying it or learning it.
We couldn't really force them to believe in it or say that it isn't a scam because they wouldn't believe it and they wouldn't acknowledge whatever we say about it.
298  Economy / Economics / Re: When will we stop living for the weekend? Escaping the 9-5 life. on: June 04, 2023, 07:04:53 PM
I used to think that this kind of life is boring since it is like repeating over and over again, to be honest we have been that way even before we started working.
We have been program to do it way before we work just think about it school is also 5x a week and it is also more than 9 hours per day or more for some of us I think it would depend on every country.
Just like school all we need is motivation and good friends to hang out to make it enjoyable.
299  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A opinion on regrets on: June 04, 2023, 11:37:16 AM
I used to regret a lot when it comes to investment and money management,
But there is nothing we could do about it, it is all in the past just learn from it to make a better decision.
There would always be some regrets because of our decision but we should just take it and learn from it.
300  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investing and trading in crypto: can make you or mar you. on: June 02, 2023, 11:02:36 PM
Those who had it that way could have been a victim of a hype or being an impulsive investor.
Most of the time those who ends up like that doesn't really know how to manage their funds or to trade properly, because if they do they would have cut loss before it goes lower to the point that they would lose too much on their portfolio.
If they bought or invested on crypto they should also have made some plans on when to cut loss and and to buy back in order to lessen their loss on their investment.
