361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinXT and Gavin have my support. on: August 12, 2015, 03:59:23 PM

due to recent censorship regarding BitcoinXT

Moderation is not censorship.  You don't have free speech rights on private servers.

Personally i'm perplexed to see Theymos is both owner of btctalk AND moderator for the reddit. That's not very decentralized is it?
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is John Conner , creator of Vanilla coin? on: August 12, 2015, 03:52:27 PM
so who was around when the first time double spend was highlighted as a problem, I assume on this site?

Double spending was solved for the first time by satoshi nakamoto in his famous paper which predates this site.

Can it be truly considered solved when it's occurred several times in Bitcoin's history?

Don't worry we're working on it

364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Give me a logical reason why Vanilla coin is not a top ten coin? on: August 12, 2015, 01:29:33 PM
I guess the American court system is a scam too because it's on the burden of the accuser to prove the claim!

If I produce a physical safe which I claim is unbreakable, but it appears to be made from paper, would you not want proof from me in advance that it is in fact, actually unbreakable before you buy it, and then store your valuables in it?

What indication is there that VNL is made out of paper though? One can see with your own eyes that coins send and confirm almost instantly on the blockchain. It fulfills its main purpose for existing from the outset. It's like me going out and picking out a safe, closing it, locking it, and checking to see if the door opens when I pull it. If it doesn't open when I pull with all my strength or pop open immediately when I take a hammer to it, that is good enough proof it "works" as advertised.

Now whether there is a security hole in the software for the digital safe lock that is a wholly different issue. What product owner is going to say, "oh i'm sorry, my creation is not secure, you better not buy it". That is silly, for one thing they are inherently biased and will be protective of their own creation or they may just totally have no clue there is a problem and may believe after their own testing it is secure. Not every car maker that gets recalled rolls out automobiles knowing there are problems for instance. Hence that is why it is up to a neutral 3rd party to prove their claims otherwise and we have things like consumer reports or the FDA to regulate or warn about unscrupulous or mistaken claims.

Btw Bitcoin has exploits and bugs too, don't kid yourself, it doesn't mean the whole software is a fraud or insecure. Things can be fixed and risks mitigated. This is why there is a term in retail called breakage, shit happens and you have to take that into account as a cost expense of doing business. Unfortunately there are alot of Walter Whites around here expecting 99.999% perfection, it just doesn't exist anywhere.

365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin, a quiet word of warning. on: August 12, 2015, 01:09:14 PM
Now that's one dark history

Dark in what way? Does it involve tortured kittens?
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] VNL - Vanillacoin - ZeroTime double-spend reward on: August 12, 2015, 12:13:24 PM
This coin is running on the Zero proof of proof algorithm.

Instead of this lame bounty why not pay for a security audit of the code cheapskate.

ah yes like the Shadowcash crew did, paid Isidor Zeuner a few grand for an audit whom we haven't heard high nor tail from for 6 months?

This is the problem with high level projects like VNL, anyone who is qualified to investigate its strengths or weaknesses usually has motives not to do so. This isn't exactly the University & Education sector around here, everyone has an agenda, even those on the Bitcoin mailing list.

Also for those whining the bounty is tiny, take a look at the going rate for Bitcoin bounties and tell me it's not fair.

Dev unable to provide proofs - SCAM

370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bend over for Goldmansachs coin on: August 10, 2015, 05:48:51 PM
Where does this even come from?  Is there any proof, or even reasonable speculation that it is backed by GS?  Because I seriously doubt they would play in small potatoes alt coin markets.  I think if they wanted in they would just manipulate the crap out of btc prices, and maybe ltc prices.

The biggest joke in the crypto scene is that somehow banks give a shit about a $4 billion marketcap product like Bitcoin. That is like a day's work in profit for them. Sure they may want the blockchain technology but the idea they are shaking in their boots over it is silly. It will be a LONG time until Bitcoin threatens the banker's way of life.

all I can say is Joe is a piece of shit because I personally gave him hundreds of coins when Crave was pumping that he no doubt dumped and out of fear of all the fud that was killing the price, I messaged him and he assured me personally I should hold onto my coins because he had a "trap" set for the "SDC fudders" and would deliver the decentralized markets by April 19th. Here we are almost 4 months later.

Looking back it all makes sense, he promised everyone and their mother in private messages and cocktease postings good things were coming so hold onto your coins, burn them, lock them away in masternodes, just whatever you do don't sell before me! I don't care if the guy comes back tomorrow and launches an update worthy of the gods, he is still a serial liar.

373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Speculation on: August 07, 2015, 05:40:37 PM

Lol general folks are still too dumb to use Bitcoin and you are pushing for some other advanced non needed crap

This is Ethereum's greatest strength actually, it's not setting out to try to change the world economy and the way we view money but just carve out a place in the IT/tech sector which is better understood by fellow nerds and tech enthusiasts.

If companies find it can save or make them money, then it WILL Thrive. So far Bitcoin has failed to convince most merchants or corporations on why it would be beneficial to them using it, and I say this as someone who wants to see it succeed.

Plus using Ether as the fuel to run DAPPS creates inherent buy pressure that Bitcoin does not have which makes it a good investment. Personally I regret not buying into the ICO.
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Speculation on: August 07, 2015, 04:43:50 PM
Will die out like most of these 2.0 coins

Except ETH isn't a coin it's a platform.

LOL!
Thanks for FUD  Grin

Sometimes FUD = Facts U Don't Like

How is it Joe Moz and ICM have the same wallpaper on both screenshots? It doesn't look like a typical generic Windows BG to me.
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: August 06, 2015, 05:05:06 PM

It is unreasonable to ask core developers to continue to develop services after they have built the infrastructure around a coin. Like Bitcoin and several other coins, VIA is a platform for distributed services. If you want to breathe life into VIA, figure out how to cultivate its ecosystem. Design a service for it. Harness its unique attributes to enrich yourself and add value to VIA in the process. One thing you can't say is that the infrastructure for services is not present in VIA. It's there by design.

I think the question is whether $350k worth of man-hour work has been put into this coin as raised from the ICO.

Now if you give me just $100 grand in Bitcoin I promise to go to IT school, get a degree in computer programming and breathe some life into it!

Holy shit. Some people just don't get it. When will people ever learn.

Unfortunately I have to learn the hard way. When I think I gave this POS several hundred coins which at the time was worth almost half a paycheck for me while this fucker is riding around in a Lotus living in a $350k house makes my blood boil. He PERSONALLY promised me markets would be out on April 19th (set a date) and that all this SDC trolling would be put to a stop, that they are "falling into my trap". Went to bat for him, made promo graphics, and when you think everyone else who put in the hard work setting up darkpool, the crave website, masternode service, etc.

I held onto my coins and could have cashed out and paid alot of bills but I stuck to a man's word which apparently is worth nothing nowadays. Many of us aren't rich, we're working class stiffs just looking to make a little extra money or change our lives while this guy is out serial scamming with an already successful career.

It all makes more sense now, why he seemed nervous about wanting his ID known, hey Joe how valuable you think all those Microsoft degrees and business connections would be if everyone knew you were building the next Silk Road? And him mentioning his kids in slack, clearly it's a middle-aged family guy.
