I wonder if Messi declines an offer from PSG because they don't want to pay him enough and he has to accept salary cuts, how is Barcelona going to stem the salary for Messi? That is the part I don't get here.
If Messi is going to decline PSG's offer of a new contract, i don't think it is ever going to be bacause of the money they are offering, PSG has enough money and they are paying Messi very well, i think Messi might leave because he feels unwelcomed, especially by the fans who have booed him a couple of times, both this season and last, thus Messi might go to a club that adores him, and there's no better one than Barcelona.

Having said that, i don't quite understand the situation in Barcelona, they let Messi go because they are broke and then they start buying many players with a high salary range/scale, and now they want to bring Messi back, how do they now intend to pay him.
1362  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you still advised more buy and store? on: April 11, 2023, 05:51:24 AM
and at times even the money you use in storing might still disappeared because of the price situation.
That's not possible when you invest in Bitcoin, quite a lot of altcoins plunge and go extinct after one invests in them, but if you buy Bitcoin there's no way your funds can 'disappear', it might only plunge temporarily and you don't lose until you sell, thus as long as you are ready to hodl for the long term, it is definitely going to appreciate in price again, and that's because Bitcoin has an actual utility which makes it impossible for it to go extinct.
1363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: South Korean crypto exchange GDAC hacked for nearly $14M on: April 11, 2023, 04:38:39 AM
Can they ask Tether to freeze USDT ($220K?, if possible, that is enough significant to reduce the disadvantage? and maybe make people more comfortable to keep USDT than decentralizing cryptos such as BTC and ETH. this is an irony I think.
How can people be more comfortable hodling an asset that the issuer can freeze, i for one believe that quite a lot of people use crypto to get away completely from financial censorship. Mind you that ETH isn't decentralized, and since Tether can freeze your coins it is a reason to be 'uncomfortable' hodling it and for you to use Bitcoin, the crypto you're pretty sure nobody is freezing from you if you have it in your noncustodial wallet and not in a centralized exchange.

Having said that, the problem with this exchange isn't even the assets they were hodling, it is the way they held it with poor security, of course in a hot wallet, even a newbie should know that funds kept in any hot wallet are vulnerable to be stolen at any given time.
Quote
According to the announcement, the attacker gained control of some of the exchange’s hot wallets on the morning of April 9 and, at 7 am
1364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: April 11, 2023, 04:27:23 AM
Chelsea under Frank lampard won't be able to spring up any surprise against real the confidence is lacking in the team and the players are not blending, the only positive is that kante is back but he alone can't inspire them in the UCL...
Chelsea under any manager this season would be unable to beat Real Madrid, the team lacks organization and they aren't playing as a group, this QF tie has come too early for Frank Lampard, he was only reappointed last week and he hasn't even had the time to bring the team together or even have a standard starting eleven. Chelsea are definitely going to be beaten, they have come to the end of the road in the CL for this season. What Lampard must make sure of is that they give Real Madrid a good fight, they shouldn't lose in a disrespectful way, at least for their reputation as a big club.
1365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: April 10, 2023, 06:19:51 PM
The EPL for Chelsea has been awful this season... I think the Champions League will also be over after the encounter with Real... Next European Cup season will also be closed, so Chelsea will have a whole year to rehabilitate and recover... The club management must make an intelligent solution for Chelsea to regain the top club title again...
I second that, i think if Chelsea get a very good manager this summer who can organize the team and effectively use the players Chelsea have at their disposal, then they'll be a big threat in the EPL next season. They are only going to be playing domestic football next season (EPL, Fa cup and Carabao cup), thus they'll concentrate on the EPL, and if their new manager, whoever it is, gets things right, then Chelsea might be serious contenders for the EPL next season, but that is still sometime away. Right now Lampard's job is to give Chelsea a dignified/respectable finish this season, it would be pretty bad if they finish in the bottom half of the table, thus a top half of the table finish and to give Madrid a tough game (even though i know they'd lose), might just be what they can achieve this season.
1366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: April 10, 2023, 04:32:54 PM
But I still get so confused why it is so difficult for the owner of Chelsea to bring a good coach who is good for the work. Lampard Lose his first game as coach for the team , this give me impression Real Madrid will beat them.
Well, it is not so confusing, signing Lampard is a way for Todd Boehly and his other staffs to buy themselves sometime in choosing the right manager for the club, Lampard is just a caretaker manager and his contract with Chelsea will end at the end of season, thus from now until the end of the season Chelsea can select the best man for the job, there are a handful of candidates, that's prolly why more time is needed.

Having said that, imo Chelsea stand no chance against Real Madrid in this game, notwithstanding who is their manager, the team is in no shape to beat Real Madrid, what they need is for this season to end so they can regroup, have a new manager and a proper pre season, and then go again for next season, they have the squad but they lack organization.
1367  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CBN want to close bank accounts yet to link their bvn. on: April 10, 2023, 01:23:06 PM
I think say CBN don close bank accounts wey no they linked to any BVN tay tay oh, i they surprised say na now them wan do am, i know see any reason why person no go wan get BVN and link it to their bank account, except na because of ignorance, but if no be that one e fit be say the person they use the account for fraud and money laundering, na BVN they help the CBN to curb fraud somewhat easily in the banking sector, so for people wey never do this, make them go link their BVN to their bank account before CBN close am down.
1368  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why was bitcoin not created as a stable coin? on: April 10, 2023, 01:13:00 PM
There are various reasons for using Bitcoin now but the reason it was created is as an electronic Cash for making online payments (based on its Whitepaper). Bitcoin works well as a means of payment but the volatility is still something. So I have been wondering why bitcoin was not created as a Stable coin?
Bitcoin na alternative to fiat oh, so if to say oga Satoshi create am as stable coin, Bitcoin for they backed by another currency, and e no go too make sense. Stable coins no just they "stable", them they as stable as the currency wey them they backed under, so if the currency get better problem, the stable coin go get wahala too. If to say Bitcoin na stable coin e no go fit be alternative currency, e go just be the same as the currency wey e they backed under.
Within una dey talk self? Just because a currency is a stablecoin no mean say e dey centralized
Most stable coins dey centralized na, and na private companies they issue them, still they hold their reserve in the currency wey the stable coins they backed under, if stable coin they backed by fiat e must be centralized, but e get some stable coins wey they backed by other crypto them, na those ones fit dey decentralized, but how many them be kwanu.
1369  Economy / Economics / Re: Without government job we can survive on: April 08, 2023, 10:35:55 PM
Let us be realistic to ourselves, is good to extreme to wait for government to make provision of every in a country, sometimes when we graduate from higher colleges we expected government to create employment opportunities but in some points government keep adamant of making employment be visible and available to the mass,  on my instinct I said without government employment man can survive, I started a popcorn 🍿 business which I managed alone but right now have workers under me which I'm paying and now planning to establish another business.
Unemployment rate has gone so high around the world post covid, when the pandemic was at its worst many businesses and companies either had to lay off staffs or shut down their establishment, this led to a spike in the rate of unemployment, especially in the underdeveloped countries that were already suffering from a high rate of unemployment pre covid.

Having said that, in my country unemployment and underemployment is a very big problem for us, university certificates are no longer enough to guarantee you a job, and even if it does there is a high chance that you would be underpaid. Thus what most of the population is doing now is to start businesses, learn skills, add a side job to their main job, etc, just basically looking for an extra source of income. Our government over here have always been corrupt, so we do not expect anything good from them.
1370  Other / Meta / Re: What is the great mistake that you ever done in bitcointalk forum since you join on: April 08, 2023, 10:05:25 PM
If you would like to share a mistake you have made, it could help newcomers avoid making the same mistake when posting here.
Mind you that the only mistake newbies shouldn't make is plagiarizing, and they should know that it is unacceptable even before they join the forum, plagiarism is somewhat frowned upon in every walk of life. But as for other mistakes like low quality posts, newbie query, pyramid quoting, making multiple posts in a row, etc, is not all that bad for a newbie to make, a true newbie would not learn all of that upon registration, it takes time and newbies have to live through that process; it is with time that they become good in most aspects of the forum. Thus even as newbies learn from the mistakes posted by older users in this thread, they should understand that they also can't be experienced users overnight, and some of those mistakes are quite normal for a noob to make.
1371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: April 08, 2023, 06:52:06 PM
Another good and comfortable win for City after last week's master class against Liverpool; City are getting into their best form in the most important period of the season, they are alive in three competitions and there is still a possibility of them going home with three trophies this season. Pep would be elated with how his team performed today, especially in the second half, and with Bayern Munich coming in the horizon. City are in their best mood to beat anybody right now.

Having said that, Erling got two goals today, and it is now 30 goals in the EPL in his first season, outstanding feat for the Norwegian, and he definitely has a bright future ahead of him. It is now up to Arsenal, they have a big game tomorrow against Liverpool, if Arsenal fail to win, the title race would be thrown wide open again, interesting times ahead.
1372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: April 08, 2023, 04:20:59 PM
Another day for Chelsea, new caretaker manager and yet again, another defeat for the Stamford Bridge team. Terrible, terrible season Chelsea fans are having, i don't know for how long they can endure this disappointing run of form, but they'll definitely be hoping this season comes to an end sooner. They are still in the CL but there's no need to talk about that because they would be eliminated by Real Madrid in the QF.

Having said that, Chelsea remain in the bottom half of the table, which is definitely unacceptable considering the amount of money that the club has spent in the last couple of months, with how bad Chelsea are playing i'd not be surprised if they finish this season in the bottom half of the table, and whoever becomes their permanent manager would have quite a lot of work to do.
1373  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bye Bye to Wuruwuru Loan Apps on: April 08, 2023, 01:14:33 PM
The reason why loan apps been they use call finish people na because so many people go collect loans and would refuse to pay, these loan apps agents go call them tire, send them messages and they still no go gree pay, me i no like the idea of calling friends, family and relatives of the person wey take loan, because them been no they there when you give the person loan, they were never guarantors or sureties to the loan, so why you go they disturb them with calls. My main problem na with people wey no they gree pay back their loan, these loan defaulters are the real menace.

Having said that, now wey them they licenced, e no go hard them to arrest loan defaulters and prosecute them by law, before them no fit do like that because them they operate unregulated and unlicensed business, but now i know say things go change, so people wey they plan to take loan and run, they better change their mind oh.
1374  Other / Meta / Re: What is the advantage of Wearing signature avatar on your BTT profile? on: April 08, 2023, 12:31:00 PM
I can say yes for signatures but not for avatars. Since avatars don't have links, I wonder how the services they're meant to promote get visibility. I'm referring to avatar only campaigns, not those that combine avatar with signature campaigns because investors can simply click on signatures and get the information or web addresses they want.
Avatars carry the companies name, signatures do so too but with a direct link to the website, making things easy for whoever wants to access it. The only difference between them is that with the avatar whoever is searching has to do a little extra work to get the website (though some avatars even have the direct website on it, but you can't click it), and you just to type it in your browser, avatars are a good way to advertise, and people who are not lazy can easily find the website.

I don't mind if somebody reading this would misinterpret it and it is also not right to say that I am not indirectly asking for merits, coz that's what already there is on the first post and I am also aware that begging for merits is subjective to red tags. This is just an "if ever", coz it is still their choice whether they'll give me or not, or whether I deserve that kind of merit. It's not like I just made this topic on purpose of asking merits without participating on the discussion.
The unofficial rules states 'no begging', but if the trust system is used correctly, it doesn't mean negative feedbacks ought to be given when someone begs for merits (or other things), the user and their post should be reported to the moderator and they'll handle it, but then if the person begs excessively, then a neutral tag is what should be given.

Having said that, it is somewhat unnecessary to talk about what you'd do with the Smerits generated from the possible merits received on your post, many users here consider it begging, and even if they wanted to merit the post initially, they could then change their mind. If merits is lacking in your local section, then you should make a thread and apply to be a merit source in your local board, or you request reputable users in your local section to apply to be a merit source.
1376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: April 06, 2023, 07:11:52 PM
I don't think it's will be very hard for Chelsea to beat Madrid.
Well from what i am reading in this thread and seeing online, it seems quite a lot of people now have renewned optimism for Chelsea against Real Madrid because they now have a new caretaker manager in the person of Frank Lampard, i get that feeling, and i am pretty sure the Stamford Bridge faithfuls would be buzzing right now, Lampard is a club legend and their former manager, so people are well within their rights to expect the best from him, and i am pretty sure he is going to give his best, but i do not think Chelsea are ready or can beat Real Madrid in this CL QF tie, the club is somewhat unstable, and before Lampard can bring that well needed stability, i expect them to already be eliminated from the competition, i'm afraid Real Madrid would just be too strong for them.
1377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 06, 2023, 06:30:23 PM
I also don't like the choices they are making right now. They have both better options of Luis Enrique who has vast experience of managing big clubs and nation and Nagelsmann also is a good manager with experience so why don't just pick any of them quickly and get it over with. I think Lampard is decent but selecting him again even as caretaker manager will welcome lot of criticism in case Chelsea still performs poorly. Anyway it's good for Lampard though to keep him occupied till the end of the season but for Chelsea I don't think it was a wise choice at all.
Well i have never supported any decision made by Todd Boehly and his team of club executives, but i somewhat think this very one is sensible, to a very large extent indeed. Yes there are many options on the table, but the club wants to take its time this time around, mind you that when they sacked Thomas Tuchel, they rushed into signing Graham Potter almost immediately, we all know how that one turned out.

Having said that, now that Lampard has the job as caretaker manager until June, the club can calm down, look closely at their options, assess everything thoroughy and make a final decision, without rush or pressure, this decision just basically buys the club sometime (a couple of months) to check everything properly and make sure they make the best choice for the football club.
1378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: April 05, 2023, 12:08:08 AM
It's a very logic results, both teams are having a bad period and surely no one of them want to lose this match, both teams was very careful and the draw is what i expected after seeing the first half
Even before the game started, i had already predicted that it was going to end in a draw, and i was somewhat sure of my prediction. Two big teams currently enduring a terrible season, definitely none of them would have that extra spring in their step to go on and grab the winner. Anyway, the draw is fair for both of them, they are both in desperate need of points, and it is better to play safe and share it, so nobody goes home emptyhanded. Chelsea play Wolves in the weekend, whilst Liverpool are up against the league leaders, it is another must win game for the two struggling sides if they want to finish in at least a dignified position come the end of the season.
1379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you share with your friends and relatives about your crypto holdings? Beware! on: April 04, 2023, 11:49:46 PM
It is important for each crypto hodler to do what's best for them, if they think they have trusted people they can talk to about their Bitcoin hodlings, let them go ahead, but it is pretty bad to tell too many people, or everyone as this thread warns, a secret told to too many people is no longer a secret.

Having said that, for individuals who have quite a lot of Bitcoins and hope that their children and spouse is going to inherit it someday should something happen to them, i think it is important to teach your family quite a lot about Bitcoin, you might be secretly planning for them to inherit it and you also might not want them to know you have too many Bitcoins, thus what you must do is to teach them enough about Bitcoin and the network without talking much about your secret hodlings, so if they eventually inherit it and you are no longer around, they would be smart and knowledgeable in using it, and would not lose it to scammers for lack of knowledge.
1380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Add your thoughts about market and its behavior, your opinion would be helpful on: April 04, 2023, 06:14:31 PM
Thirdly, don't panic when the market dips. It's natural for prices to fluctuate, and this doesn't necessarily mean that the crypto you're invested in is doomed to fail. Take a step back, evaluate your investment strategy, and make informed decisions based on your goals and risk tolerance.
I always say this, and i'd reiterate once more, this point actually depends on the cryptocurrencing you're hodling. If it's Bitcoin that's a long term coin for example, then your advice is correct, there is not need to panic since it has proven countless times that it would definitely appreciate again because it has an actual utility. Mind you that if it is altcoins you are hodling, you have to be much more careful hodling it for the long term, and stubbornly hodling it after a dip, quite a lot of altcoins are pump and dump coins, and you should always be ready to sell them, either when you have made ROI, or because you want to cut your losses when it starts to dump.
