461  Other / Off-topic / Re: Earning a living with bitcoin? on: February 08, 2016, 02:58:39 AM
Hello guys,

how many of you are earning for living just with bitcoin base projects? If so, can you contribute what do you do?
the amount of people earning a living working with bitcoin is fairly low, im guessing that only the people that work for companies like bitpay, coinbase and all the online wallet or exchange companies really earn a living with bitcoin.

Not only those some people have set up their businesses online with Bitcoin and they make their living with it too, Gambling site owners, Faucet/Faucet rotators owners, various other type of services like Purse.io, Mobile refills etc. In-fact if anyone wants to set up a business online Bitcoin is the easiest way to start receiving payments instantly.
462  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best free/paid tipsters? on: February 07, 2016, 07:41:34 AM
DirectBet has a tipster competition you can follow that for some tips https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1256522.0 and Matchstat is a good side for tennis tips, its free and once you get familiar with players you'll be able to pick the winners yourself. Never pay for tips, its useless.
463  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sent to address while sychronizing on: February 07, 2016, 07:31:09 AM
I don't know how thats possible, the address shown in the receive should be there in the wallet. Is the electrum's green light at the right bottom on?
464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You know, I've noticed Bitcoin has become the butt of a lot of jokes lately. on: February 07, 2016, 07:27:47 AM
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

Mahatma Gandhi

We need to get ready for the fight next, right before bitcoin takes the world be storm.    Grin

Actually I think we're already at the "they fight you" stage, lots of government restrictions on exchanges, russia proposing to charge users who deal in bitcoins, devs fighting each other and based on that I hope we'll win at the next stage.
465  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LoanBase (BitLendingClub) partnering with a collection agency on: February 07, 2016, 07:23:47 AM
Good luck to you but I don't think its safe at all and most probably you will end up losing money. Giving loans on the internet without collateral is not secure. The collection agency or whatever won't be able to do anything either but thats just my general opinion, what you do with your money is up to you.
466  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Confirmation of Bitcoin Release Question on: February 07, 2016, 07:19:00 AM
Generally you should wait at-least for one confirmation when you're trading for smaller amounts say less than 1 bitcoins and for larger trades waiting upto 3 confirmations is recommended imho.

Electrum will show the transaction (unconfirmed) as soon as hit the network.
467  Economy / Gambling / Re: DirectBet – LIVE Sportsbook & Racebook. Rated # 1 by Bitcointalk Members ! on: February 07, 2016, 07:07:33 AM
The transfer actually just went through.  Thanks everyone for your prompt responses

Note to bettors:  Do not use Coinbase to place time sensitive bets.   This last transaction did not go through for nearly 1 hour.

Let me warn you to not use coinbase for gambling at all, they'll ban your account, it has happened before and they define this in their terms and conditions clearly that you should not use coinbase to send/receive bitcoins to/from gambling websites.
468  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins? on: February 06, 2016, 05:19:19 AM
Not anymore, I had some bad experiences with some services where I use to spend Bitcoin regularly and after that I haven't find other trusted ones. So only only hodling as of now.
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why you mostly like bitcoin compare to other digital currency? on: February 06, 2016, 05:12:00 AM
Because Bitcoin is the only one I see which will survive in the end, all these other currencies come and go but none of them has came even close to where Bitcoin is and they never will.
470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 06, 2016, 05:08:12 AM
Not a bad batting from the lower order of NZ .. but i think Aussies will manage to win this match .. I have bet on them too Smiley

281 is still defend-able total if New Zealanders can bowl well and take wickets but lets wait and watch. All Austrlians need to do is keep their wickets in hand, if they play till end they'll win this easily.
471  Economy / Gambling / Re: hacked account in fortunejack on: February 06, 2016, 05:03:28 AM
Last Thursday after I receive payment from my signature campaign some one from France logged in and played game until they finish my signature payment. When I checked on Friday morning nothing was left. So now I have enabled my 2fa security function. It looks many accounts login details got compromised. Anyway protect your account with google authentication.

That is strange, even without 2fa I don't imagine it to be that easy for anyone to log in to another account. Maybe this is a security issue which fortunejack need to address.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the biggest faults of BTC & how would you fix them? on: February 06, 2016, 04:49:34 AM
Mining pools and mega farms..

I think the code should have something to disincentivise the centralization of mining. I don't think rules that disallow it would be the answer. More like built in conditions that the free market will turn into decentralization rather than encourage centralization as it is.

This. Maybe it is not a concern right now but it will be soon. Don't think Satoshi imagined that mining will become like this. But I don't think there is a solution to this now.
473  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling Faucet website with protections on: February 05, 2016, 06:10:25 AM
Well I think I should move the topic to Auctions forum.

Can an admin do that please?

You can do that yourself, just scroll down to the bottom of the thread and you'll see option to move topic, click on it and select the sub-forum you want the thread to be moved.

474  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-02-04] Polish Programmer Claims He Is Not Satoshi Nakamoto on: February 05, 2016, 05:20:14 AM
It's funny a "minstream" crypto news source has picked up this story.

Here is a link to the main thread here on BTCT about the subject.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1345468

Its crazy actually, people don't realize that claiming someone to be Satoshi without actual proofs can really bring trouble to that person's life and their family. And news site should do research before putting anything up.
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you believe that Satoshi is still active on Bitcointalk.org? on: February 05, 2016, 04:56:32 AM
He could still be on bitcointalk and if he's probably hanging around the bitcoin technical discussion section as he probably has a thing or two to say on the blockchain debate.
476  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introducing people to BitCoin via business cards on: February 05, 2016, 04:52:46 AM
Thanks for your reply.

It's to an older generation that does understand email, but has a need for anonymity. Just the general aspects of BitCoin like anonymity and that it can be changed into National currency, if needed.

With a link to the .org site I suppose.

Just something with the logo on and a few key overall points about the technology for the layman.

I suppose I could make it myself, but if something exists then I'd be saving time by printing it out. However, I probably could have done it by now.. Smiley

https://bitcoin.org

Is the official site and has tonnes of information and references about Bitcoin in general. You should definitely have that on it.

478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 05, 2016, 03:27:06 AM
Tomorrow there is a T20 match between two not very popular teams Netherlands vs Scotland. I'm not so familiar with these two teams performance so any of you know who can win this match? Quite difficult to guess if both teams are almost equally strong.

I think netherland is stronger team than scotland. But both are new teams and mostly got young players so we don't know how they perform on a given day. I will not bet any thing now until match start and I can see any clear direction of the game.

Netherland is slightly better, after seeing Scotland's performance yesterday, I don't think they're reliable to bet on. They have potential but not consistency.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Bitcoin fails - what is Plan B? on: February 05, 2016, 03:25:23 AM
If it fails, which I doubt it will, people will go back to plan A which is fiat, I don't think they'll trust another digital currency, so all the altcoin's survival depends on Bitcoin ultimately.
480  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin replaces the money? Could happen? on: February 05, 2016, 03:21:02 AM
It might happen one day, e-mail replaced the fax/traditional postal mailing system, it is still used but not for communicating but parcels, Wired phone lines were replaced with wireless mobile phones and same way Digital currency will replace Fiat some day.
