341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your biggest problem with Bitcoin on: March 09, 2016, 02:53:19 AM
The problem that I am facing at a moment is that I can't find a single shop in my country where I can spend my bitcoins directly, and that makes me worried that what if the scenario doesn't change in future, will I always have to be dependent on fiat?

Things will change in future mate, do not worry, just have faith in bitcoins and just we need to give some time to it grow and scenario will change in future.

Hopefully that becomes a reality in future but the reason why you don't see a shop around is because a lot of people are either unaware, so what you can do is try to educate them whenever you can, like when you go to buy something, ask them if they accept BTCTC, that will at-least spark a discussion as to what is and you explain it to them. Another reason is that it is still in a grey area and therefore service providers are a little hesitant in accepting it.

I don't think that its an good idea to be dependent only on bitcoin, as it would be to risky if you leave your present job and make money only from bitcoins, as you always need some sort of back up to take care of your financial needs.

We cannot rely on bitcoin alone as a source of income, the volatility I think is the one that makes it harder to live with bitcoin alone, specially if you only have few  coins in your wallet and you are not a trader...

That and the regulation, until it is clear that dealing in Bitcoin is legal in your country, you shouldn't jump ship and rely totally on Bitcoin with your business but having been said, you can still add as an payment alternative to whatever services you're offering.

Im using multibit 0.5.16 (kind of old, I know I should update, but Im afraid somehow the BTCs get evaporated in the process Wink)

In fact I have downloaded the last electrum version and Im looking to generate a new seed/wallet and operate from there

Thank you all for the answers, the 72h one has sound me refreshing. It was a very decent amount (0,8BTC) to get lost

I don't see it on blockr or blockchain.info, which means the coins should be back in your wallet as either the tx was dropped or it was never propagated, if you still don't see them in your wallet and if you have installed electrum then just export your keys from multibit and sweep the funds from it into electrum, the funds from that address will then be transferred to one of the addresses in your electrum wallet and you can spend them from there.
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T-20 World Cup match Predictions and Players performance thread....!!! on: March 07, 2016, 03:21:15 AM
This is the thread where all the cricket lovers discuss and post their predictions on all the cricket matches : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1135451.0

No need for more threads on same topic. My guess would be Aussies might win this time.
345  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betchan Casino accepting Bitcoin on: March 07, 2016, 03:11:19 AM
I'm absolutely sure they will request documents and do KYC. Kinda sucks.

Of-course they do, any legal online casinos would be required to collect KYC information of its clients and it is written on their terms&conditions page clearly.

You seem like a gambling addict, its good that you're thinking of steps that may help you stop gambling but I don't know how holding your coins in trezor or other cold storage might help you. When the time comes and you feel the urge you'll break open your cold storage to gamble, what you need to do is take help from professionals.
347  Other / Off-topic / Re: Earning a living with bitcoin? on: March 06, 2016, 03:21:42 AM
Having a service which would give you enough coins to live on would be great.
However suppose the project fails then you need to find a job again. For me it's still to risky to depend solely on bitcoin,

That's true, we can't rely on bitcoin as a way to earn for our daily living, and we never really know til when bitcoin will be alive,  and if something happen to bitcoin and we are all in, then it would be harder to find a job again, except if you are into business and you are the boss..

Well if you have a service which is successful and if for some reason Bitcoin project fails in future (although, I don't see it happening) then you can simply switch to other payment processors. The key is having a business which is not for bitcoiners only.
348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your idle coins? on: March 06, 2016, 03:18:05 AM
Keeping it idle isn't so bad your already gambling by keeping it so why "invest" it somewhere else, that's just more gambling lol

It isn't only that, there aren't any legit services out there to invest. You're right that one is taking a gamble when hodling BTC but at-least with that you don't have to worry about losing your coins to a scam.
349  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help please.. Lost 2-step authentication on Electrum on: March 06, 2016, 02:47:20 AM
Hi Bitcointalk community,

I'm coming here because I'm desperately in need of your help. I would be very grateful for any advice you have to offer!

So without further ado... My Electrum wallet was set up with 2-step authentication via the Google authenticator app on my smart phone. However, my phone got completely wiped, including all internal and external storage, and I lost the 2-step authentication. Now, I'm unable to withdraw any bitcoins from my wallet.

I have tried to restore the wallet using my seed, but it will only allow me to restore to the wallet type that has 2-step authentication. Additionally, I have tried to restore my wallet on a completely new computer that has never has Electrum installed on it, and again, it only allows me to restore to a 2-step wallet, which then asks for a Google authenticator code when I try to send BTCs out. There is no way for me to get the 2-step back on my phone as all the data was wiped.

Is there anything I can do to bypass or get rid of 2-step on my Electrum wallet? Can I withdraw my bitcoins in some other way? Please let me know. I would truly appreciate your help!

Take care, Frddr

While restoring from seed you should select Wallet with two-factor authentication option, as explained here:

http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/2fa.html?highlight=authenticator#restoring-from-seed In order to restore your wallet from seed, select “wallet with two factor authentication”, as this tells Electrum to use this special variety of seed for restoring your wallet.

It should give you access to your wallet.
350  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum recover wallet? on: March 05, 2016, 04:01:04 AM
Well my computer hard disk just burned, gone, when i created the wallet i didnt stay with the words to be able to recover the wallet,my question is there is any other way to recover the wallets besides those words we get when we create the wallet? My balance isnt too much its just 0.03btc i just wanna know if i can recover or if its already losted.

File + password or seed. If you have neither (or cant recover e.g. the file) your coins are lost.

I will ask my friend if he can recover atleast a part from the disk, besides those i got no file, password i get ,i got two adress from the account and the seed well i dont have it i just thinked would be all ok,soo i may say i lost those balance, the only hope will be if my friend can recover the file soo i can recover the wallet but i havent made any backup into it .

Recovery of the disk is only the option you're left with since you didn't make any backups of the wallet or the seed, though I have had disk crashed once and its not easy recovering anything from it. Let this be a lesson and make sure to keep backups in future.
351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 05, 2016, 03:40:33 AM
Today is match between Ireland vs Zimbabwe. This will be a T20 world cup warm up match.

I think Ireland is not a very weak team and Zimbabwe is not doing that great in recent performance so now it is very difficult to predict who is going win this match. May be need to wait for match to start so we can guess more accurately.

I would go with Ireland on this one, Zimbabwe couldn't even defeat Himachal XI, which tells the story of how much bad state their team is in, Ireland on the other hand has the potential to become a good cricket side.
352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin comic - The Joy of Tech on: March 04, 2016, 03:13:43 AM
Agree on its volatile but disagree on the security part, people who lost bitcoins did because of their own negligence. If stored properly, no hacker can gain access to your coins.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best sports betting sites on: March 04, 2016, 03:07:46 AM
With bitcoin I'd have to say DirectBet is one of the best sportsbook and with fiat Bet365, I also notice when betting live, the odds on Bet365 are updated much faster than BTC sportsbooks.
354  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction stuck, please help! on: March 04, 2016, 03:04:28 AM
It'll probably be dropped from the mempool and you will have to resend. I know, the struggles with the transactions right now. We're backlogged to the moon with antpool and friends mining empty blocks.

If this was the transaction then it is already confirmed : https://blockchain.info/tx/a0adbffda462efdfc5003b0d2a6fb83b4f1ed851cd69daf1c94c9f8dd0fe5961

And has 27 confirmations right now.

OP, you said you use electrum wallet, just use dynamic fee feature and make it 50k Sats/KB, you won't face such problems again.

bump! Still selling this one! Cheesy

bump! Still selling this one! Cheesy

Only one bump per 24 hours is allowed. If you bump more than one time in 24 hours, you might get banned. And kindly remove the previous bumps.

Also, you can exchange your Amazon balance to BTC using purse.io, you might even get better rates.
He already redeemed the balance .there is no way for him to make it reach the purse

He can order stuff from it and that is what I meant when I said exchange, Purse.io lists wishlists, he can purchase an item under $10 from somebody's wishlist, the btc will then be held in escrow, when the product reaches the customer, the funds will get released.

357  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam report: faucetgame.com on: March 03, 2016, 04:31:21 AM
Its a faucet game, it doesn't necessarily have to be provably fair, the only income source for faucets are the click/views from ads. It may very well be rigged but since they're not asking you to deposit anything, they can't be accused of scamming.

If you're not getting anything from your time spent there then just move to another faucet(s) or a job.
358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain the "high-fee spam attack" now? on: March 03, 2016, 03:33:14 AM
so the best option just use automatic fees setting features ,it will give you proper fees ,and maybe it's neither too high nor too low so you don't need something to be worried about

I use electrum and have set it to dynamic with fee 50k-Sats/KB and it just does all the work, I think it takes into consideration some other things as well as the size of the transaction, like age of the coins, confirmations etc. before suggesting a proper fee and all my transactions confirm within the next block or two.

But if one is doing it manually then this site is very helpful. https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

It didn't work with me in the first try, I tried registering with username bestexchange but nothing happened and I was sent back to the homepage.

It worked on the second try though with a different username.

360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: after receiving bits in large amounts, how to work with banks? on: March 03, 2016, 02:55:35 AM
Hi, I just asked my bank in USA if they can receive bitcoins and they said NO!
My question is this, what companies will convert the bitcoins into US dollars without asking questions so that I can take those US dollars and deposit into a bank
Because otherwise, what's the point of just having bitcoins hanging around, I want to invest this into my business or various investments

What do you guys do about this problem?

Thanks

Gone are the days when you could convert fiat⇄btc without anyone asking any questions, now most of the exchanges (all in US) would ask you to verify you account before you're allowed to trade. It is actually good, the more legal Bitcoin trades are, the more mainstream it will become.
