7604  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-25] Bitcoin Price Drops Below $600 After Relative Stability on: July 25, 2014, 06:12:16 AM
Quote
“In any other time, in any part of 2013, and even before that, an event like Dell [taking bitcoin], would have shot the price up by 20-50%,” said Mark Lamb, chief executive of London-based exchange Coinfloor, which has been growing its daily trading volume of about 150 BTC since it launched in March.

In fact, the value of a bitcoin hadn’t closed below $600 over the last 30 days, according to the CoinDesk BPI, except for a blip today, which saw it dive briefly to a low of $591.

I thought that the price will increase after the adoption of BTC by DELL but now it the BTC price dropped in a way we didn't though.

The trough of disillusionment

Maybe bitcoin’s price needs more than good news.

After all, people need time to figure out world-changing, disruptive technologies like bitcoin. Positive newsflow in the interim isn’t going to help the world adapt to our bitcoin future, no matter how many computers Dell sells.

That’s what Joe Lee, a trader and founder of bitcoin derivatives exchange BTC.sx, thinks is going on.

“The price is stagnant because we’re going through a trough of technology adoption for crypto currencies, where the world is working how to take it,” he said, citing technology research firm Gartner’s theory of a technology adoption ‘hype cycle’.

Gartner’s hype cycle, which comes complete with interactive chart, is a fancier way of saying that all that positive news is going to take time to sink into people’s minds. In Gartner-speak, we went over the Peak of Inflated Expectations in January, when the price was soaring, and now we’re headed into the Trough of Disillusionment.

Gartner’s hype cycle

I think that's true though we don't think it is. Roll Eyes

7605  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: July 24, 2014, 04:03:49 PM
We have lost over 700,000 Ghash/s in the past week...

If i look at the pools stats ; 4818196.535 Ghash/s

About a week ago was hanging around 5500000 and 5600000 ... not 4800000 like right now..

Well.....I have a Jupiter asic at 550gh....it is kinda sorta hanging in there..but probably I will pull the plug in sept 2014

so...could it be that their are enough asicminer usb/avalon/bfl 65mm stuff etc etc out there that now that Summer
is here ...everyone just said it was not worth the electric bill and hassle and pulled the plug?

Searing

I suspect people are piling into Ghash to fight the wild variance swings.  Cry

And now DiscusFish has enabled English translation, I imagine they're picking up a lot of people interested in PPS.

I like Slush's pool very much but still I couldn't decide where to mine. Can you tell me which pool is better? Slush's or Ghash.io or DiscusFish?

7608  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: July 23, 2014, 04:52:03 PM
I bet we will reach the 1k soon, it's just a matter of time, no way back unless new alt. coin takes btc place and I doubt this.

It's a shame that we went past 1k and then dropped back down to 600 I think by the end of this year we'll be back up to 1k+

Didn't we see something very similarly in early 2013, in which the price went past $200, then dropped back to below $100 and reach $1000 by the end of the year? Wink

Yeah!  It will reach $1000+ by the end of the year. I think ponzi schemes are making a bad impact on the price. Do you think it is?

7609  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: July 23, 2014, 04:49:38 PM
Is there any proof of that they are mining at all?

Now there are no proof. They aren't giving a pic of their miners, not going the pool they mine(if they're) and I couldn't see a block if they are using their own pool. So I came to a conclusion : "It is definitely a ponzi scheme"

7610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is My Rig good for Mining? on: July 23, 2014, 04:46:38 PM
No brother.

Switch to cloud mining please.

Cloud mining would be quite worse than mining with a GPU you already have.

The rates there are ridiculous, and only the company makes money on that. Plus, it encourages the centralization of mining.

Yes. They give us a small fraction of what we pay but there are a few hosting sites where we can choose our own pool. The price is bit higher than cloud mining price but it is better. They pay all the hosting and maintenance fee for 1 year. In some we can only mine for few days which will be insufficient to get the BTC you spent. Always calculate what might be the outcome of the action.

A calculator like this one: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/calculator is a good way to know what the contract could give you, by considering the increases in difficulty.

I use coinwarz.com calc. You can compare other currencies and you can see which coin is more profitable. You can also you individual calculator. It is good for people who want choose more profitable coin.

I can see there is another LunaMine campaign going on here => https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=676307.0

Then what is the purpose of this ? Sorry for being ignorant. I'm a little confused !!!

That is a referral campaign and this is a signature campaign

On that campaign you get paid by the sales they make from your link Smiley

Ok ...got it.

@lunamine Though I see there are 0 spots open, please let me know if there are any spots for Sr. Members. If yes, I would like to join after July 24.

There will be another enrollment soon if he is continuing the campaign. Smiley The current round is till 26th July. Try to check the post after that. Smiley

7612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: July 23, 2014, 04:15:48 PM
A few little queries about transaction fees. Let's say I have two hypothetical wallets.

Old, dusty wallet 1 has 100 dust (<0.1) transactions from mining, 50 small transactions of .2, and 10 larger (>100) transactions from exchange transfers. No transactions out.

New, shiny wallet 2 is empty.

Now, if I were to transfer everything from wallet 1 to wallet 2 in a single transaction:

1) Would this go through as a single transaction?
2) What transaction fee would be payable?
3) Where do transaction fees go?
4) How will transaction fees be changing in the future?

Loving the Monero by the way. Don't let the FUD'ers bother you.
Cheers, Q

Why don't you just copy wallet.dat or import private keys than transferring it? Roll Eyes

will it worth 1 satoshi in the end?

no

it will be worth 0

Well everything will be worth 0 in the end Wink I doubt doge's going away, you gotta expect some lacklustre episodes here and there it's only rational.

It was simply a pump and dump coin which is coming to the end so much hype and now its slowly disappearing.

Doge was hyped since its conception and remained one of the profitable coins for months but sadly those days are now over.

Yeah it is sad. I heard that Doge is introducing merge mining with LTC. LTC is giving a good support. I hope it will be back soon with a better price. I don't think it is a pump and dump coin. Smiley

On a side note, Coins Source's Premium Membership has just launched. At the current time, we are accepting BTC/Paypal payments for our premium services. In roughly 2-3 Months you will be able to purchase with your SRCC (at market price > BTC)

We love everyone's high support! Lets keep the efforts going and make SRCC the best and one of the longest lasting crypto-currencies to date. This isn't a pump/dump coin, we have value, we have a plan and we are going to make SRCC absolutely amazing an huge.

Don't miss on the opportunity, claim your stake before the deadline.

I am happy about this. Activities aren't updated. Smiley It will better to post the link to stake holders in Coinssource site and also tell them to verify here. If you're busy, PM me, I will update activity in the list if you give the permission to edit in Google or I can give an update of activities of stake holders and will PM you. Payment for premium will be better if you add SRCC. I hope it will come soon.

7618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this exchange legit? on: July 23, 2014, 03:14:51 PM
Try to use cryptsy or poloniex or other trusted exchanges. If you want to test it, trade a small amount, say 0.001 as it is the minimum withdrawal amount. If the withdraw isn't fast, don't try it again. They maybe waiting for some reviews about their own site and then they may go away with your money after they got enough traders. It is best to stay way from them.
