7621  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Buy BTC? on: July 22, 2014, 04:18:31 PM
I use localbitcoins because there is no verification process, and I can buy bitcoin fast and easy with cash. Smiley
the only bad thing about LBC is that a lot of the time the other person doesn't show up

There active persons on localbitcoins. I think you didn't check correctly. Smiley

Do all of the offers require me to pay for something or are there any free offers?

I don't think so. This site doesn't have any free offers. Please don't ask this question again unless I am wrong.

I do face to face trades, meeting people in real life.

Be careful when you do face to face trades. It is very dangerous. Try to it in most crowded area.

i wouldn't lay it on too thick -- people are buying/selling on localbitcoins legitimately all the time, every day. but yes, just meet in a Starbucks or something. i mean -- why would you meet anywhere NOT in public?

Even if you do in public with less crowded area, there is a chance of robbery. There was a post earlier telling that some people tried to get BTC by force, luckily he escaped from there. That  is why I told "most crowded area". Smiley Keep a distance from the person you buy or sell.
Kindly,
          Muhammed Zakir

I believe you are talking about the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641160.0, and that person almost lost his phone.

Be careful out there if trading in person. Somebody just attempted to rob me of my phone after setting up a local trade.

I'm in a French city (not Paris) and somebody contacted me over localbitcoins for an in person trade.
He wanted to buy 500 euros worth of BTC.
We agreed to meet at a big open public square where there is a bar and lots of people milling around.
When we met up two people arrived and we started to talk about how the site works and how he can verify the transaction BTC.
I then whip out my phone and log in to my account stressing the whole time that I need extra passwords to release the funds. Then when I ask him for the moeny, one guy grabbed the phone while the other pulled out a tear gas canister and sprayed me. Luckily I had managed to grab back my phone and started to shout and swing a few punches and they ran off. I was glad that the place was quite full and people quickly helped me. I will be filing a police report but I'm not sure that it will do any good.

TLDR- Be careful when trading in person, criminals are starting to realise what bitcoin is about.

To be honest, I forgot about the thread you gave, I was talking about another. Then it happened to 2 people. Check the rating of the Seller in Localbitcoins before you buy. You may thing it is pretty easy but it isn't. Sometimes it may cost you your life.

What would be a good sha256 investment? I'm Canadian and I'd like to buy from Canada. Would be cool to be able to use my credit card too.

what are you talking about specifically.... miners? to be honest, the big farms will always be 10 steps ahead of you, and they will kill your ROI. but, i could be wrong, too. Smiley
Generally, bitcoin mining is dead for individuals, however, there are some altcoins which may be mined with profit.

Who told you 'bitcoin mining is dead for individuals' ? Huh Smiley Many people are still mining. The problem is you will have to buy best miners on the market, which will cost you some $$$ . You can't tell it is dead but you can tell it is dead for individuals with small hash rate. Smiley

prove it!

One cannot prove the nonexistence of something, thus that onus is not on me.  They made the claim, they need to prove it.

It is very funny though. We asked proof and he is asking us to prove... Undecided  I have found many scams now. Anybody fall in any trap recently? Roll Eyes

7627  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Armory or Electrum? on: July 22, 2014, 03:48:52 PM
I'm looking for a non-hosted wallet, and I've narrowed down my choices to Armory or Electrum, since I don't have the resources to support Bitcoin Core, and MultiBit has some bugs that aren't preferred for what I'm doing.

So which one would you choose to hold your Bitcoin? Armory or Electrum?

Also let's say I have an nondescript number of Bitcoin waiting to be moved, for this we'll say 3BTC.

Both clients are great. Electrum is more user-friendly and Armory has more features.

IMO if you are talking about a small amount of bitcoin, it is better to use Electrum.
But if you have a significant amount of bitcoin, I think it deserves some of your time to set up an offline Armory wallet.

Is he using the word 'resources' for dependencies and blocks or just dependencies? Roll Eyes

Now you can leave it. It will be very hard for you if he did something bad with your account. Now it is okay, right? But still I can see the profile, it isn't deleted?
Kindly,

The accounts are never deleted, even if they have been banned permanently.  Smiley

Thanks! So why doesn't it get deleted when banned? There isn't any use with the account, right?

I would have tried it but I didn't see any free offers...so no thanks! Roll Eyes

I think that is why he is offering BTC. Anybody tried any offer?
Kindly,
         MZ
No, i also didn't see any free offers.. only  a payment offers  Roll Eyes .

if you read properly OP don't define about free opportunity in thread .why people are trying to search free offers here ?

title reads,"Paying 0.02BTC for 10 minutes of your time!"
not
"Paying 0.02BTC for 10 minutes of your time and USD!"

title implies that OP is offering a 10 minute gig.  Stop playing the semantic game with people who call others out for being misleading.

You are right. He put that title to get more attention. If he mention USD, then he will get very less attention, sometimes none.

7632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is My Rig good for Mining? on: July 22, 2014, 03:05:35 PM
Give it try to Monero, you can earn pennies with this rig  Tongue

Not profitable anymore after GPU invade it.

That is why he told pennies. Roll Eyes Is there any coins which isn't invaded by GPU, yet?

7633  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: • CRYPTORY • — MAXIMIZE YOUR EARNING POTENTIAL WITH CRYPTORY! on: July 22, 2014, 02:45:23 PM
It is a scam. See the topic : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=686848. Please invest wisely. Try to buy GH/s rather than investing in ponzi schemes. http://lunamine.com/ and www.bitcoincloudservices.com are good sites.
Kindly,
      MZ
Both the mining sites you recommended could be ponzi sites as well. They haven't given enough proof to prove they're not.

If you think they are ponzi schemes, then buy GHs in cex.io or eobot.com . If you want to choose your own mining pool with cheap price, I recommend you to use nimbusmining.com . Very cheap and easy.

7634  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: July 22, 2014, 02:42:41 PM
If PB is legit, then they should at-least have a block mined but I couldn't see one. Is there any way to cancel my mining contract in PB? I just want my invested BTC back.

7635  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: p2pool - Advancement of Decentralized Mining - Vital to Bitcoin Network Security on: July 22, 2014, 02:19:20 PM
Hi, IM new to P2Pool and working out if it is worth using or not, I only have 20ghs at the moment and soon to be 100ghs is it worth using p2pool or should I stick to traditional pools? Also atthe moment I have a time to share of 4.5 days is this normal ?

This isn't the correct place to ask the question. Smiley 20GHs isn't worth mining in p2pool node but 100GHs would be good. The minimum hash rate recommended is 40GHs. Remember you will have to detect the electricity & maintenance costs when you calculate estimate profit.

Just to update, the users who were waiting to be paid are still waiting. OP hasnt been online in three days, its looking more likely that he wont pay his debts.

I think he will but he is too busy. When I PMed him about the campaign, I got the reply after a few days.  I think only one person is behind XBTec, otherwise others can easilly give updates and all. Roll Eyes It is very hard to do some business alone.

Did you told password to any friends or someone else? Is the e-mail linked to the account yours? If he changed, then you will get an approval mail, right?
Kindly,
         MZ
I don't think any of my friends did it  I'm quite sure about that , and I don't know whether we get any approval mail while changing profile , I didn't got one[not even in spam] so i think thats the way it is, and when I tried to recover my password through my e-mail it says something like "this username doesn't exist " so I still can't figure out whats the case.

Thanks @Badbear

Now you can leave it. It will be very hard for you if he did something bad with your account. Now it is okay, right? But still I can see the profile, it isn't deleted?
Kindly,

Chrome, but I hate it when I install avg as it would change all my chrome's settings.

+1.
Why don't you install Avast? They give 1 year free license key and it is good. You can use Panda cloud antivirus if you connect to internet almost all time.
