Physical coins are mostly given as a gift but some buy it just to collect some. I don't think it is a good idea as they have your private key. I heard that some physical coins allow us to put the private key but you will have to tell the address when you buy. Smiley

7703  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: CoinSecure - Bitcoin Prices in INR [ReWorked] on: July 21, 2014, 06:24:48 PM
Coinsecure now has a global non-auth API for those who want to display the prices easily on their website.

Trader sell prices
http://coinsecure.in/sellprices.json

Example output: [{"USDINR":"61.404889"},{"coinsecure":6186.8806006639},{"gox":6791.3819514978},{"buysellbitcoin":"5573.00"},{"coinbase":6004.17004642},{"btc-e":5902.360740458},{"bitstamp":6049.60966428}]

Edit: Temporary location of API. Will soon be moved to /api/

Not working! I just don't want to start a new topic. Smiley Know why?

7705  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 40.000 Dollar Investment on: July 21, 2014, 06:14:01 PM
Personally I wouldn't invest that much money into mining, I would rather put it into bitcoin itself. Mining profitability WILL go down so you may not end up breaking even. Only a few people break even these days.

+1.
I would buy Bitcoin and Litecoin with ~75%+ money and rest I would invest in mining. Smiley
IMO don't invest much money in mining. Mining field is pretty tough for predicting. You might not actually get the money you predicted. Sad

7706  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is this teen one of us? on: July 21, 2014, 06:10:37 PM
Thanks for validation of this article philipma1957 Thought it was a thumb suck from a journalist on crack again.  Wink

But we need to see some more young people getting into this, they are after all the future of this world.

Now to settle my bets on the other forums.  Wink

What we need is young people coming up with innovative uses/business ideas built on the Bitcoin/Blockchain platform, not more mining.

On another note, I fail to see what's so special about this kid getting his hands on some S1s and mining some profit.  He didn't actually do anything short of spend money, configure some options, and walk away.

Well this is very innovative ---> http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/meet-high-schoolers-developing-bitsell-150-bitcoin-atm/2014/07/21

Make the ATM's cheaper and hopefully the cost to the clients cheaper too. We have VERY talented teen out there indeed.  Grin

I looked it. Their project seem great. I looked their fundings but they didn't got an average fund they need. I think they have to make a post on BT for more attention. I don't whether any other person donated(secretly).

7707  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Is minersbox.com legit? on: July 21, 2014, 06:05:30 PM
I saw good miners in minersbox.com. Is that site legit? Anybody bought from there? It was early minerscube.com but they changed it to minersbox.com recently. I am thinking about buying from there but need your reviews and suggestions. Smiley

7708  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to Bitcoin need rig for college (don't pay electricity fee) on: July 21, 2014, 05:59:41 PM
Like everybody is saying, ASIC miners produce sounds which will disturb your roommate(if any). If you are buying, then try to buy S3 as it power consumption and bit higher technology.
Is there any restrictions on electricity? Did you check about it? Are you sure that, you will not involve in a major problem? The electricity bill will be high when you use ASICs. Make your decision wisely. Smiley

7709  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Question about mining and profitability? on: July 21, 2014, 05:54:25 PM
I would recommend you s3. Buy s3 instead of buying s1.
A simple comparison:
Quote
S1 : 180 GH/s          | Power Consumption : ~360 Watt from the wall
S3 : 478 GH/s±5%   | Power Consumption : ~366 Watt from the wall

I know the price for S3 is a bit higher than S1 but it is worth buying. You can consume power with good hash rate.

7711  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which pool will yield the most bitcoins? on: July 21, 2014, 05:29:16 PM
Ignore andylin, he spammed 15 posts before I assume being banned.

The best pool is the pool that makes you happiest.  If having peace of mind is important then mine on the most stable pools like BTC Guild or Bitminter.  If guaranteed income makes you happy look for a PPS pool if it exists to negate variance.  If you like gambling and the thrill of possibly making double earnings mine on a smaller pool.

If Ghash.io wasn't trying to take over the network they would be an option, but in their current state they need to be avoided at all cost.

IMO P2pool mining is better for him as he has good hash rate. But where did 6TH/s miner came? I couldn't see any on internet which is alrady made but I found one which is under development.

7712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain size/storage and slow downloads for new users on: July 21, 2014, 05:19:51 PM
If you have a good network speed or using seedbox, is it better to download Bootstrap.dat and copying it to BTC directory and syncing than syncing directly from network?

7713  Other / New forum software / Re: Reducing miscateogrized posts on: July 21, 2014, 05:11:38 PM

The system we have now to correct things manually upon identification is plenty good when you consider it requires no further changes to maintain.

It's not a massive problem anyway.
Oh, trust me: sometimes it is. Though it depends on the timeframe, but overall there are lots of posts that I move everyday. Some seem like honest mistakes, while some did that intentionally.

Back on topic, I think that even some rules can be enforced easier this way. For example a question: "Is this thread is about a website?" AND IF ANSWERED YES "Have you already made a thread about it?" would reduce on duplicate threads if the poster just didn't know the rules.

For duplicate threads, there is a solution! Simple display "relevant" threads when someone types in a title. This is what StackOverflow does.

http://puu.sh/a4Crw/34730ae45a.png

I love this idea. I get confused easily sometimes when organizing my threads and putting them in the correct place. often people point out that I have posted in the wrong sub forum and they are often moved by staff.

@Nahtnam

I like this idea I have posted a few duplicate threads I know. but the main reason for that is because most of the other threads have a warning when trying to reply because the thread is to old. So if you want to add to discussion this wouldn't work. But if you are looking for a answer then this could work pretty well.

You are right Baitty. It isn't a good idea posting on an old topic but the feature helps a lot. The features justusranvier proposing is good. He has explained neatly on the feature but will it be added?

Half of the threads here are people asking questions.

+1.
I agree. Most of the questions they ask is already answered but they aren't willing to spend some time on searching it and also they want to increase their Activity and thus want to increase their Rank.

7714  Other / New forum software / Re: Option to view both inbox/outbox as conversations on: July 21, 2014, 05:10:40 PM
Great idea. The current setup for viewing messages is so confusing at-a-glance. Why do I want to see the oldest message at the top of the page? I don't!

You can change that in your settings.

Thanks! Made some changes and now I can see the latest messages at top. Smiley

IMO enabling an option like you said would be very helpful.  Is this going to be added? Smiley

Yeah, I'd like this feature too. I've found myself going backwards and forwards between inbox and outbox a few times. An option to toggle it on/off would be great.

7715  Other / New forum software / Re: Make a friends list on: July 21, 2014, 04:43:13 PM
I think he wants to make this forum a social network. You can chat with others using ICQ, AIM, MSN, YIM and Skype. So why you need that in BT? If you want to chat, you can use BT++ script but you will have to wait sometime as you need at-least 180 activity.
Forum must stay always as forum not social network. Smiley

7716  Other / New forum software / Re: Idea: Random user avatares by default on: July 21, 2014, 04:36:53 PM
Why? What's the purpose of this? If a user doesn't or choses not to upload an avatar I don't think we should be forcing them to have one.
It's easier to identify them in a sigle thread. At least for me, seeing colored patterns is faster than reading the usernames.

+1.

Personally, I think this looks better than identicons.

http://puu.sh/a4D7Y/8cb5ea929a.png

It would be some random (bright) color, with the first letter of the username.

It looks good.
Will they enable the option for uploading a custom profile pic in new forum?

7717  Other / New forum software / Re: deactivate "lock topic" on: July 21, 2014, 04:23:21 PM
Right, scammers are not banned...

And as user you cant warn the members for this people
Example for this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=664369.0

Create thread and look it is a simple way for scammer

Thanks for the link. Everybody should try to report it such scams as soon as possible and it is best to avoid trading with -vely trusted people.

If the new trust levels will be similar to the SMF ones, then I think Member + should have the ability to lock threads in specific categories.

I am a Member but I think it is better to give the ability to Sr.Members and Hero Members.

7718  Other / New forum software / Re: BTCTalk should have a live btc ticker on: July 21, 2014, 03:11:14 PM
Ive been thinking this forum needs a live ticker for btc price, on the header or main page. I think thatd be a great addition to the site, but perhaps its not possible? Has this been discussed before?

You can just use the Bitcointalk++ script, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264337.0

We can't say adding a live ticker on forum is useless. I think it isn't added on forum is because of the major group on opposing side. If you want a live ticker you can use BT++ script. It has other features, which you may like. BTW I am in opposing group. Lips sealed

7719  Other / Meta / Re: Feature Request for the forum on: July 21, 2014, 03:00:47 PM
So, people reading your trust page will understand what happened. Smiley

I don't think, they will understand every-time. I saw another post telling that someone made a negative feedback on him to take a small revenge. It affects the forum. But I couldn't see any way to prevent it. A idea of mine was to make an approval from staff/moderator or another person approved by the staff/moderator but it is very hard. I don't whether it can be made. Anyway, we can't get a world full of good persons.

It is awesome. I have the same question you have, Why didn't the sheet bend by the weight? I have to buy a sheet like that. Wink Pretty tough sheet. I think goats were trained for a long time to get this skill. Smiley
