1501  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Feb 22 to March 9 diff thread with contest included. on: February 23, 2015, 08:10:55 PM
3.95% - 4.20% all the wayyy !

;-)

I'm not sure this is a valid guess, I think it will have to be either (3.76 to 4.00) or (4.01 to 4.25) and you need to advise if your guess is an increase (+) or a decrease (-).

Just making sure your guess is valid, would hate for it to fall wrong for you   Smiley

Allright so 4.01-4.25

I'm not running the promo so don't wanna sound like I'm shouting the rules but....

"and you need to advise if your guess is an increase (+) or a decrease (-)"

Thanks Stu. I can make certain assumptions, e.g. if the -/+ sign is not specified it's probably a "+", but it's always better to have it spelled out explicitly.

Back on topic - hashrate is decreasing, but we're only about a 100 blocks in, so this could turn around quickly.

It will skyrocket as the usual !

What about Bob and Tony live in the same city ? Hahaha kidding again ;-)

You are likely talking about Bob & Neal. The two really nice guys from SanFran you met in that bathhouse?

Hahahahaha ^_^

If you don't find a buyer, i would take all 4 controllers boards ;-)

All the folks beating OP up on his pricing... please find me S5's for super cheap. Curious as to what you can come up with.

Considering, shipping is included, it's isn't so bad. I wouldn't buy it tho. I would prefer to get a new one. (Like buy 3 SP20, sell the 2 others at cost price)

I had the same plan. With another party go in on the Nano farm. Whoever is taking two gets it shipped to them, then the cost of shipping the single unit is divided by 3, that amount is added to the total price of each miner. New gear, free ship, great price. Have heard / been warned that if you do this and have an issue Spondoolies will likely give you warranty grief. This is just second-hand, I can't stand by that statement.

VERY happy with the S5's and Bitmain. You mentioned wanting new gear while OP said maybe you don't... I wanted NEW NEW NEW until I thought about it a bit. If you buy a TV or laptop or bitminer if it is going to break it usually does so shortly after setup or in the first month. By having someone else plug it in, have it mine, show low temps and all 0000000's, and hit the speeds it should, that's likely a good miner. No DOA / warranty / shipping / lost time mining.

Then the next week it just explode ! Just kidding, got your point ;-)

I wish i could have one of the board Jabber was suppose to do.

I guess it would have work with the S3 too.

Boom someone just pushed it to 350 Peta (per Bitcoinwisdom)

Classic close to the end of a Diff.

1513  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: February 17, 2015, 04:20:45 PM
I once saw 1680GH on one of my four SP20s (set at 0.75v and 12c intake), but it isn't typical.  It also does 1640s at 23c.  It hardly breaks a sweat doing it (very little thermal limiting) so there is probably plenty of room to overclock that one, but I'm not interested due to the efficiency loss.  That said, that same "overachieving" SP20 doesn't underclock anywhere near as efficiently as the others.

On two others I see closer to 1600-1620GH at 0.75v which I consider typical for a SP20.  The last one I have is an "underachiever" which struggles to get 1550GH at 0.75v (with four different ASICs hitting thermal limits in the 630-640s).  Although an underachiever at top speed, that one for some reason can underclock far better than the others (at 0.62v I see 0.48w/GH at the wall on that one-- something the others don't even come close to).

Lately I've been running them all at max 0.72v as the optimum profit point for my power rate.  This morning's readings (low to high) were 1461-1500-1530-1546.

Same here, the one running with the fan at 30% perform a bit better then the other one running at 40%. (around 20gh/s)
1514  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] SPONDOOLIES SP20E + EVGA 1300 SUPERNOVA (CA) on: February 17, 2015, 04:13:10 AM
Can't you underclock these things to make them run quieter?

Outside temp is like -15 to -20 there days ... so cold intake, fan at 40% and 30% pulling like 1550 gh/s per SP20. at 965watt (not at at wall, add like 10%).

40% and 30% isn't bad, you still heard them with an open door. Door closed it's all good.
1515  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 17, 2015, 04:09:28 AM
I've got a new Spondoolies SP20, I'm fairly new to mining, and I'm using bitminter. I noticed there are custom worker settings. Is this something I would need to set to get the best performance? My current hash rate is 1.45Th/s. I wasn't sure if I should set the minimum difficulty or not.

The pool will adjust the diff by himself but you can set one in the worker if you want. Doc could give you the exact behaviour but I think the pool start it at 256 (As Doc corrected me it's 16) and will increment it for your hashrate over time (it's quick).

Min diff. for my SP20 are not set. I'm just loosing a bit of speed when the worker stop and start. It's no big deal Tongue

I think there is somekind of magic number like 1450 GH / 1.x = min diff to set. I just don't remember what is it. But this only an approximate.

I guess 1000 should be fine.

Doc will tell you exactly what to use I guess ;-)
1516  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: February 16, 2015, 11:24:07 PM
If that is pretty normal for something that states its 1.7 thats pretty crappy, i have even upgraded to the new firmware so a little disappointing

Mines are running at 1.55 TH with like 950 watt (guess around 1050watt at wall) with fan at 30% and 40%.

so no hope for hitting that 1.7 TH.. what temp is your unit running at?

23/60 and 23/65

As I said max watt is 250. I can't set them to 288 due to power supply limitation.

1519  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 16, 2015, 05:31:21 PM

Do stale blocks also skew CDF calculations? I.e. the full stats show the duration on mining since the stale block. However the stale block took 20 hours to find and we got nothing from it. So shouldn't the current CDF be calculated from: (time it took to find the stale block) + (time mining on the current block)?
We could have a block go orphan and then later be on the longest chain again (no longer orphan).

Interesting, I didn't know that. Did it already happen here ?
1520  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New diff thread Feb 9 to Feb ? this has a promo for best guess. on: February 16, 2015, 04:26:57 AM
I am going to be interested to see how the recent ~17%+ increase in the price of bitcoin is going to affect how much new equipment the manufacturers build and how many people bring their miners back online. Although this may affect the following difficulty calculation more then this one.

bitcoinwisdom is now showing an estimated +4.15 change with a 1, 3, and 6 block time of 10, 30.1 and 60 minutes respectively

yeah but it is pretty much worthless number under current mining conditions.  that huge piece of hash power  (all s-3's) is around 50ph  and the best explanation I see is owners of s-3's simply turn them on and off based on diff/price numbers.

really makes for tough guess at diff movement.  you noted price jumped to 250 from 225 and maybe a lot of s-3 owners power back on.  I agree.   that is bound to happen.  but that www.bitcoinwisdom number does not reflect it to well.  not to say they are wrong since they are looking ahead.

  http://btc.blockr.io/charts

in a few hours they will give feb 14 block total   this will allow the current standing of diff for the first 720 blocks.    maybe -2 % or -1% .

then you need to think will price jump from 250 to 275 or drop to 225. all will be a big factor with s-3 owners all over the world.
You are right bitcoinwisdom does tend to have what appears to be a very strange prediction at times, however I don't think it is accurate to say it is always wrong, I think they have an algorithm that relies on a certain set of assumptions that are not always correct.

I think a falling price is causing more S3 owners to turn off their machines then a low price. I don't think many owners want to be selling ~$1.25 worth of bitcoin per day per S3 if they were to leave it on, they would probably want to sell $37.5 worth of bitcoin once per month (per S3) as selling that small of amount every day is almost not worth their time (assuming their intention is to sell the entire amount to cover their electric/hosting costs)

The estimation is always highly influenced by the previous Diff change (previous 2016 blocks) Meaning that if the previous diff was 10%, the estimation will be way higher even if the generation time is 10 min since the change of diff.

The estimation will be greatly close to the reality 2 or 3 days just before the end of the current diff unless a massive change of Hashrate appears.
