1663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: April 17, 2012, 01:56:07 AM
Improve the speed of name_scan and name_list

I've committed a patch to improve speed of namecoin :
name_scan : -35%
name_list : -55%

Source is available on github : https://github.com/khalahan/namecoin/commit/9dd96f321a91ae1ae7ca676c60391274422ce3b6

It may be interesting for people having a lot of names, people maintaining a dns server with .bit, people doing stats from namecoin, etc.

1664  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Btc-e.com automated trading BitCoin \ SolidCoin <-> USD \ BTC on: April 17, 2012, 01:51:25 AM
Nice work btc-e.com . Though perhaps some SC branding might help your cause. Smiley

We are on the lookout for a reliable exchange to "default to" in our upcoming API interface improvements, so I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.

I guess you were wrong. SC has done nothing for btc-e.com.

Once again another fail by king RealScam.
1665  Economy / Speculation / Re: A year from now (2013/04/15) on: April 17, 2012, 01:07:41 AM
it is difficult to predict timings, but in terms of price, I predict bitcoin will have exceeded 32 $ within the next 12 months.

What are you basing this prediction on?
1666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Clubs in Schools on: April 17, 2012, 01:04:19 AM
Just curious, are there any bitcoin clubs in schools?  For those in the education sector, what do you think of setting up such clubs?  I think that such clubs will be useful for spreading the awareness of Bitcoins.  Any opinions?

I penned the following a while back:

Quote
What if some high school teachers introduced Bitcoin to their Economics 101 class? What if somebody started a Bitcoin Club in school? The club's main role could be to help the other clubs, in their school, raise funds for their special projects. Juniors always raise the capital needed to make the prom a success for themselves and the Seniors (who did the same the year prior). The beauty of this idea--it's these kids that will have the first opportunity to use Bitcoin on a daily basis once their out of school. They'll always know that their the ones who helped fledge it and gave it wings to soar.

Allow me to do the math on this. I think you'll find it interesting.

There are approximately 63,000 public schools in America. Say only 1/3 of them start a Bitcoin Club. That equals 21,000 schools. Now let's say that each club has, on average, 10 members. That equals 210,000 students. (if you see where this is going, please don't tell the rest of the class). Now imagine if each student spends, on average, $100 worth of Bitcoin during the course of a school year. That would equal $21,000,000. Does this number look familiar?

But instead of calling it the Bitcoin Club, for you would never have a PayPal Club or Dollar Club, dub it the Crypto-Currency Club (CCC), with Bitcoin being the only true crypto-currency currently available. I'll bet we'd be surprised of what ideas today's youth will come up with for using Bitcoin.

~Bruno~

Hard to believe when we have all these other alternate chains up and coming. Don't be so close minded to think that bitcoin will be the ONLY cryptocurrecy. Even MySpace got overtaken being the "first successful social media site" by Facebook.

Keep your mind open to the fact that alternate chains (more of them) may end up emerging.
1667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cryptocoin.info hacked? on: April 17, 2012, 12:53:41 AM
http://cryptocoin.info/

Normally has, well info about cryptocoins on it, now it says

Attention Cryptocoins like

Bitcoin, Litecoin, RUcoin, and Solidcoin

Are a scam, so watch out!

We no longer encourage the use of cryptocoins

We found out they are just a scam

Hacked? Or what could they have "found out"?

They were 25% right....Solidcoin is a scam. =)

1669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coineer - The Bitcoin Magazine on: April 13, 2012, 03:00:38 AM
A response from you was inevitable and not really a major concern.
It sure is inevitable that I would be attracted to shoddy projects and push them to raise the bar. It's what I do. And why would it be a major concern unless you are hiding something? You're weird.

The current state of publishing is only the initial soft rollout online.
So in other words, it still isn't published, and you're just an electronic magazine at this point. There's nothing to be ashamed of from starting small, I just don't understand why you're trying to lie. Here you try to make it sound like you yourself aren't just an e-zine.

If there is another magazine (not eZine or "coming soon") about Bitcoin, I would like to know about it Smiley

By the way, you're not even the first e-zine. There was one a year ago and it actually sucked worse. I guess I should be glad the bar is rising at least.

I am not concerned with the checklist you are providing, we will proceed on our own merits.
And apparently proceed on your own reality as well. In our reality we call "lying" a deceptive business practice and it's typically frowned upon.

Announcing "Coineer - The Bitcoin Magazine", the World's First Bitcoin Magazine.

Coineer: This is what he is talking about. A bit surprised that you haven't seen it since the thread has been on the first page a lot over the past few months.
I am actually well aware of that particular site and the threads surrounding it, which was why I said if there was one that was not an eZine or "coming soon".

Isn't your printed 'magazine' "coming soon" also?  Roll Eyes

At least he has a product you've got nothing to show for your "Zine"...

1671  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Coinapult - send Bitcoin over email in seconds on: April 13, 2012, 02:55:00 AM
Q: what happens to coins that are not claimed?

After 30 days, an email is sent to the sender (see 'From:' field on send page) with a recovery code.

Where are the coins stored? What security measures do you have in place?

How can users feel safe knowing that their bitcoins they send actually get to the receiver?

This is how scams get started by NOT answering these questions.

I wonder how it must feel like, to be a part of your team, Matthæus?

It's okay, be brave. Come on over and ask me out.  Kiss

How about you finish your magazine instead?

Let me worry about our magazine, why don't you worry about your e-zine?

Why don't you get off bitcointalk.org and finish the damn magazine already?HuhHuh??
1673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A letter to the community from Matthew N. Wright on: April 13, 2012, 02:46:26 AM
I applaud this action!

Bitcoin needs more professionalism.

Yes professionalism comes with being late and making excuses constantly.

Wait...that's not how it is supposed to work LOL
1674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A letter to the community from Matthew N. Wright on: April 13, 2012, 02:44:54 AM
Please read this entire thread to the bottom. You will be pleasantly surprised.

I couldn't do it.  Sorry.

Patiently waiting for the magazine.

+1 Hurry up already...its almost May and the march edition isn't out yet.

WTF

Yay! I can still wait just as long as it takes to send money between Dwolla and my bank and pay more fees!

Sounds like a deal!

1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NAMECOIN PASSES SOLIDCOIN on: April 12, 2012, 07:28:26 PM
So much for the "best alt cryptocurrency and most valuable"....LOL  Cheesy

Yes as dubious as that title is it is nice to see ScamCoin has lost it (at least temporarily).

I am sure King RealScam will use his mom's credit card to buy up 100K coins and regain the title.

Definitely. watch the price of SC skyrocket...lol then crash again lol

1679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solidcoin Prices Drop to New Lows as Investors Bail Out on: April 11, 2012, 12:36:55 AM
Interesting.

I think SolidCoin price will go up some more.

Since the block reward is currently only the transaction fee and any fees that come along with some extra, there isn't much inflation.

I think it will just make it more fun to sell things for SolidCoins.

But it will be very interesting to see what happens with SolidCoin v3. Going to be more user friendly, so maybe more buyers will be out there.

Sell all your possessions and buy SolidCoins if you believe the BS you just spouted. Grin

I didn't say I was selling any or all of my possessions. However, I might sell some for SolidCoins.

Okay so what did you say highlighted in red? Selling things for solidcoins would be fun. So then have LOTS of "fun" selling all your things.  Cheesy
