classic JB, completely missing what's going on. even a nub lurker like myself can understand what's happening better than you. Apart from GG already being reset (and BCX losing his mass of GG in the process), of course doublec isnt going to start up a new exchange while he's currently shutting his other ones down...

I often wonder how such a good idea attracted so many dumb people.

It was reset and bitcoin express started mining at point 0, I am not claiming he has the hacked coins, I am claiming he is an early adopter of geist gelds. Thanks for playing but next time try to keep up

It sure did not sound like that was what you were saying.

fair enough.

you will be helping someone who had mined geist gelds at 0 hour and as such is a major holder of the coins, someone who probably screwed up your investments and time.

Show me the line that caused you to think I alluded to the fact that he is holding onto hacked coins he wants to sell.

This time around I do not believe BCX got in at hour 0. I got in at about hour 6 and he was at like hour 5. But it doesn't matter when you get in with GG given that the output of new coins is relatively stable.

Earlier BCX took 200 GH/s and ran the difficulty from 50 to 120 over the course of like 25 minutes and mined say 150 blocks. Once he left the difficulty came down within minutes to 50 or 60.

Not sure what you're worried about.

It will bounce back up, you'll see.

It already did that. Now it will bounce back down, you'll see. Then back up....
1983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] When will bitcoin be ready for a 2 hour TV infomercial on: September 15, 2011, 12:29:00 AM
Why waste bitcoins on buying TV ad time when there is already a full fledged global online bitcoin TV network?  The early adopters are going to continue to be tech savvy youth, not unemployed old people watching TV at 3am.

We need a new host given he is nothing close to a youth to relate to the audience at hand.
1984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SC is dead??? 0,0025$ per SC on btc-e.com on: September 15, 2011, 12:24:34 AM
Miners *COULD* continue on the original chain, they *OPTED* to go offline until security additions are put in place.

Read: CH pissed off BitX, and pulled the plug on his own chain, giving only hours of notice inorder to save the little credit he had.

This is what you get when one guy is calling the shots.

BitX's own ball sack pisses him off (WHY WON'T THEY DROP?!?!?!)

All I have to say is at least Solidcoin has a leader who is not just a figure head.

What really happened was Coinhunter publicly challenged me and made statements his Solidcoin client 1.10 was bullet proof. Since the only place his client ver 1.10 was up and running was his "hidden" testnet I proceeded to not only 51% fork it, which he said wasn't possible because of his God like coding had fixed it, I also "Time Traveled" it increasing the size of the block chain 5 times in in 19 minutes. In addition, I confirmed over 8000 blocks and successfully merged with the "correct" fork.  This all took less than 30 minutes.

Immediately following said demonstration, Coinhunter with his tail tucked between his legs engages his kill switch and takes down Solidcoin pending a "fix".

Notice we haven't Coinhunter talking shit since.

That's the true story of your "Fearless Leader" Viper LOL

IMHO if coinhunter had a fix for the exploit(s) he would not need 2 weeks. From a pragmatic perspective it should take 3 days tops if he really is telling the truth.

New poll: Which solidcoin fork do you use?

So now we've gone from making alt chains to who's fork is best? lol

Yup. I guess so.
1987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 14, 2011, 09:35:14 PM
Yes! Fresh coins are coming in again! Now from 4018 to 4039.
Could it be the high hashrates that came in from BitcoinExpress?

network is being pounded. I just saw the highest diff rate of 170 just hit.
1988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 14, 2011, 09:28:48 PM
Hm, and you're running what soft again ? Because my ghettobox reported 2 orphans and 7 generates in the last hour, and it is running @ 250 mhashes (poclbm, but I intend to experiment with cgminer soon)

CGminer, worked for me until now.
I think 4000 coins with 3Ghash/s isn't bad.
Blocks look correct.
Time looks correct.
Put in the ntp=1 yesterday.
Addnode on your advice, solved the irc connect problem yesterday.
Restarted the portable geist.

what is your stale rate?

4 accepted, 400 rejected.

If you had that kind of reject rate how did you mine 4000 coins? Sheesh thats like 99% rejects.

It sure sounds like solidcoin supporters having nothing better to do are now sulking in their sorrows over their network and coming to this forum to let loose.
1991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 14, 2011, 08:38:04 PM
I am not going to scan through 15 pages of retardation to see if this has been addressed, but, in english, to geld is to castrate.

Have fun running around with your balls chopped off, forktards.

You came all the way over here to castrate yourself? Good job buddy!
1992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 14, 2011, 08:36:59 PM
That's exactly what I am testing, The Difficulty Adjust,.... it works FLAWLESSLY...good job Lolcust.

Nothing "Hax" involved, just straight up firepower!

Testing out the "Hit Pool" nothing fun like having the controls to a 200 gh/ s pool to play with. This is an advanced pool, I can bring them online when I want, a psuedo-bot net if you will.

No need to panic.
Wow so that was 200GH u dropped on it? Nice...seems diff only went up to like max 120 or so.
1993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO you think doubleC should open an exchange for geistgeld w/ the btcexpress sit on: September 14, 2011, 08:33:11 PM
It really shouldn't matter either way, an exchange would be good to shift money between coins, if everyone knows he mined a fuckton, then the price will be like 0.000001 just like them other forks with large premined or held coins.

People need to get their facts straight. We restarted GG. The exploits he used in the first run of GG have been fixed. BCX is legit this time on the GG network.
1994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 14, 2011, 08:28:40 PM
Meh, as long as he isn't screwing up diffs or doing other "hax" shenanigans, it's perfectly fine.

It's not like we'll have to wait several month to resume mining GG as usual Wink

I know that is the beauty of it. It will likely cost someone much more who has much more processing power to mine these things and us with the little GH/s we have can keep up.

He he he...

EDIT: There must be some sort of threshold where the amount of GH/s you put on the network starts to make you less coins per GH/s.

Right?
1995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 14, 2011, 08:25:06 PM
BCX is dropping his load of GH/s right now on this chain. I just saw my last 12 blocks get orphaned.

LOL
1996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO you think doubleC should open an exchange for geistgeld w/ the btcexpress sit on: September 14, 2011, 08:24:01 PM
@Cosby

Who says I'm selling at $10,9 or $2?Huh

Bitcoin has been self sufficient for me, it has paid for it's self including the building of my current rig farm and everything needed to keep it running. I started CPU mining in Nov 2009. Real money didn't start flowing until March 2011 though and June was a huge boom.

Bitcoin could cease to exist and I still wouldn't loose any money or sleep, so the answer to your question again is....

No I am not worried about the BTC falling price.

How much GH/s did you start with?
1997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 14, 2011, 08:18:09 PM
I just did some math and found out that if the difficutly of GG was ever to get to 16,000 roughly it would take about 28 minutes to come back down to 1 if I am understanding that decreases in difficulty can range from +400% to -400%.

That sound right?

What adjustment limit factor did you use ?

+/- 400% is the default bitcoin values, and they resulted in large jitter that greatly displeased some miners, so I've dropped that. From the top of my head, current adjust is 176,9%, symmetrical +/-, with retargets every 16 blocks.

I put way too much time into this. But it was fun..
I have made a high res version from the icon Lolcust sent me. Using a program called perfect resize I managed to make it large enough to use in other project, without too much pixel distortion. Like this coin for example. Which is 50% size of original I made.

Theres also this version http://imgur.com/YhR6l with a little more texture.. perhaps too much.

Btw I'll send the high res icon if anyone want it. Just PM.

Neat. You can expect 500 Geists to arrive a mite later today

Okay so then in my example it should be more like ~70mins instead of 28min to readjust to diff 1 from 16,000 if all miners left the scene.

You're too much of a businessperson, Cosby Wink

Grin Who says there is a limit of how much business-like you can be?
2000  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO you think doubleC should open an exchange for geistgeld w/ the btcexpress sit on: September 14, 2011, 08:00:03 PM
I think it would be wise for any alternative block-chain to discourage creation of exchanges for at least a month or three to get the bugs out.

That should also help build trust that the alternative chain developers/promoters aren't just trying to make some quick BTC.

I bet you would Gavin, it will cause an increase in BTC price, which suits me just fine as I have a hella lot more BTC than any other chain.

Sucks to be you with the btc price dropping.

Not not really, the argument over who was the first to GPU mine is a toss up between ArtForz and myself. I mined tens of thousands when they were woth only $0.05 per BTC, I'm still in the profit zone quite a bit.  Grin

Well losing potential profit and selling at $10 instead of $2 is a huge loss. When did you start mining and with how much GH/s?
