1821  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can i use Antminer S7 PSU for Antminer T9 on: March 08, 2017, 10:58:43 PM
If the PSU worked for an S7 it will work on your T9. The power draw between the units is very close and should cause no issues.
1822  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cointerra Terraminer IV CTA 1 ALIVE but not hashing on: March 01, 2017, 07:31:31 PM
A common problem with these boards was the PCB warping from heat and cracking the runs internally on the board. Another thing to try is to unhook the cable running from the psu breakout board to the hashing board. It was a well known issue with some of the boards that they would not hash properly if the breakout board was supplying bad information. Also in the status page you can check the voltage going to each chip. I would verify there are no damaged chips as that would cause slow/no hashing issues.
1823  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 Hardware version x.x.x.x - Miner Status page not populated on: March 01, 2017, 07:26:30 PM
The blank page like that is usually caused by incorrect network setup. You will never see that page populated unless it can talk to the pools. I would SSH into the machine using root/admin as credentials and try some pings or nslookups to make sure you can get out to the internet and DNS is functioning. Also showing your kernel log could shed some more light on whats happening.
1824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen hashrate? on: February 28, 2017, 10:34:14 PM
Considering the Ryzen chips dont even come out for 2 more days I doubt you will find an answer right now.
1825  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best way to sound proof a room for mining? on: February 28, 2017, 09:47:32 PM
Make sure the room has some kind of ventilation, if you seal it all up like that you will kill your miners in short order due to heat.
1826  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If mining gets unprofitable will it expose the system to 51% attacks? on: February 28, 2017, 09:46:38 PM
jeah that truly sucks what was once and looked like an idea of small people quickly became an issue of the corporate rich, bitcoin has been sold out and it will sooner or later face the fate of other bubbles

Does anyone expect any system with the financial impact of bitcoin to stay some little hobby thing? Its a multi billion dollar industry, of course businesses are going to crop up all around it. If companies were not investing in it do you really think the value of bitcoin would be where it is now?

Bitcoin mining is plenty profitable, just because you cant make ROI in 3 months with $0.15/kw power doesnt mean its not. Bitcoin mining is an industry now not a hobby.

As far as the 51% attack goes you also have to realize that the pools are made up of tens of thousands of miners and if any pool starts trying to attack the network people will just move their miners somewhere else. The 51% attack will never happen. It is just more FUD in an industry filled with it.
1827  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BitMain: S10 soon (or maybe S11)? on: February 28, 2017, 09:32:41 PM
If Bitfury and hashnest will unite, we will see great miner.

Considering bitmain owns hashnest im gonna say the chance of a collaboration with bitmain is right about 0%
1828  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 Hardware version x.x.x.x - Miner Status page not populated on: February 28, 2017, 06:49:07 PM
Can you supply screenshots of the miner status page?
1829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: February 28, 2017, 01:03:35 AM
The guy that told you it was ok to nest up to 4 switches I dont think has ever dealt with a large scale network before. There is a good chance if you have enough clients on each switch you are ARP flooding your own network. I would get a switch that allows you to port mirror and wireshark the traffic to better see whats going on if you continue to have strange issues like that.
1830  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Kano payout delay on: February 28, 2017, 12:43:30 AM
Kano doesnt use an auto payout system, everything is done manually. For pool specific questions there is a pool subsection to ask these kinds of things in.
1831  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I need quiet in my house! Sound control techniques for S9 miners? on: February 28, 2017, 12:41:25 AM
The short answer is you dont run it inside your house. Stick it an a garage or attic. The s9 is not meant to be run inside a home. Especially not the new auto tune units since you cant control the fan speed anymore.
1832  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How much traffic/ Internetspeed for BTC mining? on: February 27, 2017, 10:12:32 PM
you need at least 2 megabits

This is flat out wrong. From S7 testing the average I see on my miners is about 30-50mb used over a 24 hour rolling period.
1833  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: is there a way to boost both fans ? (antminer S9) on: February 27, 2017, 10:09:57 PM
Why don't you connect them directly to 12V, that way both will do max RPM possible?

Because if the controller doesnt see the fans the machine shuts down and will not hash. Honestly if you ut the PWM line and it is still not speeding up you most likely have a bad fan.
1834  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer s9 login help on: February 25, 2017, 01:53:21 AM
Thats a really strange issue, the factory reset should take care of it. Can you SSH into it using root/admin as credentials?
1835  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can I connect my Antminer S7 using a powerline adapter ? on: February 24, 2017, 08:37:52 PM
If the person before you had a static IP that doesnt match your network you will not be able to connect. The best way to go about this is to perform a factory reset. There is a pinhole next to where the ethernet cable plugs in, that is the reset button. Use a paper clip or something similar to push the button down and hold it for 5-6 seconds until you see it flash both the red and green light at the same time on the status LEDs. Once that is done give it about 2 minutes to reboot and it will be on DHCP with just the factory antpool configuration for mining. You should be able to see it on your routers DHCP table at this point and you can then access the GUI to complete the setup.
1836  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S4 Noise vs S3 Noise on: February 24, 2017, 06:24:49 PM
The S4 has 5 fans and is super loud. Maybe you can try picking up some newer gear? You will just lose money on that old stuff.
1837  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: February 24, 2017, 01:54:17 AM
It's also unknown whether or not the miner control GUI supports English or not. Unless you understand Chinese it'll be a little difficult to setup the miner. Seems it's market poorly towards Western and European customers and if anything seems it's just for Chinese customers.

I dont speak any chinese and I managed to get it all setup. Miner GUIs really arent that complicated.

Also, it is not marketed at all outside of China yet. I had to go to their headquarters for them to even believe I was serious about their product. They will be supplying English firmware and tools, it has already been offered to me.
1838  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: February 24, 2017, 01:52:19 AM
Well,it's not an option if it ain't fer sale to "the people"  Cheesy

Kinda like Bitfury is an option.....if you have millions of dollars  Cheesy

"the people" are just the ones that cant seem to get over the fact that home mining should be going the way of the dodo by now. They keep buying R4s that break in a month or try and build ridiculous sound proof boxes to run a miner in their bedroom.

I share the information because am assuming there are enough people on this forum that actually matter when it comes to miner purchases (aka mining companies/datacenters buying hundreds/thousands at a time) and would like to know about alternatives.

1840  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: SOLO MINING - can i be bamboozled? on: February 24, 2017, 12:43:32 AM
You are throwing your money away by solo mining. Go back to PPS mining and actually make some money.
