1461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asrock H110 Pro BTC+ hangs on reboot on: September 07, 2017, 08:17:55 PM
How many GPUs are you running on this MOB?
What is the model number of the CPU installed? Low end Celeron CPU can cause problems with H110 Pro BTC+ MOB.

I run a G3930 in mine and it causes no issues. It seems like the simple fix is to not leave a thumb drive plugged in, then you dont have to worry about it not rebooting properly.
1462  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What is the CFM of the Front fan and the rear fan of the Ant miner S9? on: September 07, 2017, 05:43:27 PM
Dont use tarps. Use foam board insulation to build your hot isle. Tarps have no structural rigidity and will just make a mess of things.
1463  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are the Antminers still worth purchasing? on: September 07, 2017, 05:35:42 PM
I agree as I bought both my S9 off EBay and did pay more than Bitmain but have made that back by being able to mine instead of waiting the couple months for shipping. Just have to look for the bargains on EBay they do pop up every now and then.

Considering the unreliability of mining hardware this is not a good idea. You have zero warranty this way and are probably paying a significant markup on the actual unit cost.
1464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3000 + Miners hacked - Telnet - Security - on: September 07, 2017, 03:15:32 PM
Whoever wrote that article has no clue about anything crypto im guessing.

As an FYI, the only current generation miner with open telnet is the Avalon (well its rpi image). Telnet is immediately disabled when you put a password on the GUI.
1465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New White Risers work with BOTH sata AND molex connected at the same time :) on: September 06, 2017, 09:38:40 PM
yall do realize that sata connecters handle less current than the 4 pin molex, its around 1.5 amps and that's it

You do realize you are wrong and the sata connector spec is 4.5 amps or 54 watts while a molex is 5 amps or 60 watts. They are basically interchangable and both work just fine to power risers. When people are melting stuff ti is 100% their fault for improper setup to begin with.

Also...real world mining tests I have done by using an actual DC amp clamp and some maths.

RX470 pulls 29 watts from the PCIe riser while mining ETH.
RX480 pulls 31 watts from the PCIe riser while mining ETH.
GTX1060 pulls 29 watts from the PCIe riser while mining ETH.
GTX1070 pulls 34 watts from the PCIe riser while mining ETH.

All WELL within sata or molex spec. Just because the theoretical maximum they can pull is 75 watts, in real world tests they do not even come CLOSE.

1466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Proper way to power 1x-16x usb riser? on: September 06, 2017, 09:33:59 PM

The only problem with that post is that it is wrong. There is no danger as long as you dont overload a single string of connectors by putting too many on. There is nothing wrong with the molex or sata power connectors, they all work just fine. Also I have done actual amp clamp testing and an rx470 undervolted and setup for mining pulls under 30 watts from the powered riser....hell an overclocked 1070 only pulls about 35 watts. The sata power plugs are rated up to 4.5amp (or 54 watts) so you are only putting an 80% load on the connector itself. As long as you dont try to run a bunch of risers off of one string of plugs coming out of the PSU you wont have any problems
1467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Proper way to power 1x-16x usb riser? on: September 06, 2017, 09:30:45 PM
Ill never understand why people ask if they should plug stuff in. If the connector is there, it is there for a reason. Is it really that hard to just plug it in?

I mean you dont NEED a seat belt to drive a car....but its probably a good idea to use it right?
1468  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: help with Identifying breakoutboard on: September 06, 2017, 04:32:13 PM
And DO NOTE that the power supply Fanatic linked to is 1 Output 48V 26.8A 90 ~ 264 VAC Input. Today's miners like the Avalons use high current 12VDC. Feed them 48V and there will be fireworks followed by much crying...

Interesting that the Terraminer used 48V and good choice as it lessens the strain on the buck mosfets (lower currents) and allows for thinner copper power planes up to the bucks. I rather assume miners have moved to using 12v mainly as a legacy thing from early miners like the s1 and others which were easily powered from small ATX supplies. Now is mainly because of that legacy and the abundant supply of multi-kw server-grade 12v PSU's. At least the string topo now used keeps currents to a reasonable level though.

bah I actually linked the wrong version of the correct PSU.

The cointerra is a PET1300-12-054NA

The exact same PSU but 12v. I still have a few floating around here.

1469  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 7nm miner thread on: September 06, 2017, 04:15:59 PM
You guys are all too funny.  But on a serious note; let's keep it to 7nm speculation and what it could do to the 16nm ASICs.

You must have missed the point of the sarcasm dripping from every post in this thread. There is no 7nm speculation. It is so far away from being a reality there is no point in even discussing it.
1470  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: help with Identifying breakoutboard on: September 05, 2017, 11:39:50 PM
I am 100% positive that breakout board is the internal board from a Cointerra Terraminer 4 version 2.0. (2.0 were not release to the public)

My tech team wired that up and sold it to customers. Whoever you bought that from got it from me originally.

This is the PSU that connects to the boards:

1471  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Broken Antminer S7 on: September 05, 2017, 11:29:45 PM
Sounds like he hacked together that system. The system should have either 3 boards with 45 chip boards or 3 boards with 54 chip boards
1472  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 7nm miner thread on: September 05, 2017, 11:15:08 PM
I like that you jumped right to 7nm and ignored the 10nm process when the mining companies are still on 14/16nm. This thread might be useful around 2020....
1473  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Canaan.io has "Bulk Packs" and "One Pallet Solutions" for Sale on: September 01, 2017, 10:25:32 PM
Thats actually not a great deal at $98/th
1474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New to mining... advice please... on: September 01, 2017, 09:18:36 PM

Downloaded the full ETH blockchain/node update.

Ran 2 or 3 different GPU mining programs. None want to start mining with my GTX 260.

Looks like its just cloud mining for me

Ethereum requires a card with 3gb of RAM or more. If you want to mine ETH you need at least a GTX 960 or so bare minimum
1475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Extra beginner questions on: September 01, 2017, 09:14:34 PM
The GTX 260 is OLD. Honestly its not worth trying to mine on it for anything more than a laugh. I think you might be confusing it with a GTX 1060 as a cheaper card that is good to mine on. Nobody is mining on a card as old as that 260.
1476  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Totally anonymous mining on: September 01, 2017, 09:08:23 PM
You are either in some strange country you havent mentioned with laws like no other or you just dont understand how taxes work.
1477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Amazon EC2 Elastic GPUs for Windows on: August 30, 2017, 06:47:19 PM
That and im pretty sure you will get shut off right away doing any mining on amazon hardware.
1478  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 one hashboard stop appearing in STATUS on: August 30, 2017, 04:28:27 PM
A firmware flash only affects the controller. You have a bad hash board. These are string design and it only takes one failure point to kill an entire board. If you purchased it new from bitmain in May you are still under warranty. You can put a ticket in and ship it to the los angeles depot for repair.
1479  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: friggin S9's..... on: August 30, 2017, 03:17:56 PM
Why you did a firmware update to a bitmain device?

From many posts that I am reading daily people saying that their antminer went to a worse working conditions after the update.
In some others also the device bricked...

Hope to find a solution very soon

The claim that bitmain firmware updates kill machines is an old wives tale. People flash the wrong firmware then blame bitmain for it. I have literally flashed over 10000 bitmain devices and never bricked a single controller.
1480  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is it possible to build a BTC miner? on: August 29, 2017, 09:26:57 PM
While nothing is impossible, this is highly highly highly improbable. Any reason you would want to take on a project like this that will take months to do versus just buying a nice new miner?
