1841  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ANTMINER S5 AND S9 WONT CONNECT TO POOLS on: February 23, 2017, 04:26:40 PM
You can run the 12 subnet with a 1.1 gateway just change the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0
1842  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: February 23, 2017, 04:22:55 PM
Anyone know which batches exactly have been good and problem free, and which batches are having all these issues?

All batches of S9s have been problematic.
1843  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: February 23, 2017, 04:21:31 PM
Wow,easy big fella....your the only one who has shown any "proof",so that makes these miners legit??

Ebang has no interest to sell to hobby miners, they know its a dying market. That combined with the fact that I am the only customer of theirs outside of China is going to make it hard to have 6-10 random forum people confirm it. You can swim in your own ignorance and believe they dont exist all that you want. I am only doing this to show people there are options available.

Phil: I have no affiliation with ebang other than I am a customer. I do not believe they monitor anything on these forums so I doubt they will be sending you a test unit.
1844  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BitMain: S10 soon (or maybe S11)? on: February 22, 2017, 06:32:19 PM
I would better hope for another player (canaan??) launching a good alternative. That would be ideal for miners IMHO.

They did but its way less efficient. Ebit launched a miner that is also less efficient. To think any of these companies is gonna pull a more efficient miner out of their ass is a pipe dream
1845  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin mining currently too energy inefficient for the future? on: February 22, 2017, 02:33:18 AM
I said we need to create better ways generating electricity.

You list the ways in which we currently generate electricity.

I think you missed the point of what I said by quite a bit.

P.S.

I do like that you picked the most unreliable means of generating energy for the home user market. Unless you live somewhere with 24/7 sunlight and a 100% constant wind I guess it would be ok?

1846  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: is there a way to boost both fans ? (antminer S9) on: February 21, 2017, 10:38:21 PM
The front fan maxes out at 6000 rpm, the back fan at about 4300. If you are expecting 6000 out of both you will not see it.
1847  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ANTMINER S5 AND S9 WONT CONNECT TO POOLS on: February 21, 2017, 10:36:01 PM
Looking at your screenshot I dont see a gateway or dns server listed. It will never start mining without those.

1848  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin mining currently too energy inefficient for the future? on: February 21, 2017, 10:34:21 PM
We would be better off creating better ways to produce power.

We have the means to generate all the power we need.

Hydroelectric and Nuclear Energy for Power companies.

Solar and Wind for individual home/land owners.

i dont even...

/facepalm
1849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Easy to Mine Cryptocurrency on: February 21, 2017, 09:06:06 PM
You cannot mine for a profit with random hardware laying around. You need to spend money and build rigs specifically setup for mining if you ever want to make a profit. Also you need to look at how long it takes to pay the rig off before you make any actual profit. This is not a get rich quick game, but if you invest the proper funds and have patience you can make some money.
1850  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin mining currently too energy inefficient for the future? on: February 21, 2017, 08:59:47 PM
Bitcoin mining or not that energy would be used somewhere. We would be better off creating better ways to produce power. You can reduce reduce reduce all you want but the population expansion and adoption of technology in less civilized areas of the world is not going to slow down.
1851  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I start mining? on: February 21, 2017, 08:55:37 PM
Not even a 1/6th of investment in first month sadly.

If you can find ANYTHING that recovers that much of the investment in a month please let us know. That is a ridiculous ROI. Honestly the 1 year ROI on bitcoin mining still trounces most other legit investments you can make.

Coin mining is not a get rich quick scheme, but like any other business, if you put the time and effort into it you can be successful.
1852  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A peek into K&T hosting farm on: February 21, 2017, 12:37:00 AM
35c is awful hot, you might want to work on upping your airflow quite a bit if you plan on expanding. It should ideally feel like you are working in a wind tunnel there is so much air movement. From how still the papers on the racks were id say there isnt much airflow at all through the racks. Also intake temperatures like that are reaching the limits of what the systems are rated for. I can tell you for sure that S9s will have issues in that temperature, they are much more sensitive than S7s to the heat.
1853  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: February 21, 2017, 12:12:06 AM
And who can vouch for you??

If you dont believe me you can leave the thread and not come back. I have already posted proof I have the machines and I am running them. If thats not good enough the door is right over there =====>>
1854  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: February 20, 2017, 08:49:35 PM
For those buying these outside of China be aware that their firmware is currently only available in Chinese. I used Google Translator to figure out how to configure the miner but there are still parts of the firmware I do not understand.

Also the company that makes these is ebang. It is a large communications company that specializes in fiber hardware. They are as legit as it gets, I have personally visited their headquarters and can vouch for the company and the miner hardware.
1855  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Spondoolies SP30 Issues on: February 20, 2017, 08:40:39 PM
Once they start losing settings like that there really is no permanent fix. The memory chips have just gone bad. If you want it to remember settings you will have to boot it from an SD card.
1856  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BitMain: S10 soon (or maybe S11)? on: February 20, 2017, 08:35:03 PM
I am not sure why everyone is assuming they will just pump out another new miner less than a year after the S9. You guys have to realize that we are butting up against current wafer thickness limits. Nobody will be putting anything out that is under the 14-16nm tech for the next probably 2 years.

Bitcoin asics have been chasing the tail of retail chip manufacture but at this point we are all caught up. TSMC just started up their 10nm process and they are having production issues. Low yield on the 10nm stuff might even delay new Apple devices let alone a small boutique manufacturer like bitmain.
1857  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 - Chain scission of chips. on: February 16, 2017, 07:39:15 PM
There is no fixing that yourself, you will have to send it off to be repaired.
1858  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2400 watt power Platinum 94 200 240v DPS 2400 on: February 16, 2017, 01:11:50 AM
This will be a very loud PSU. Those small fans spin at 15000rpm or more and make a ton of high pitched noise
1859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Powered risers required for mining boards? (TB85/H81) on: February 15, 2017, 01:34:21 AM
I have 48 machines running 6 cards each on an asrock H97 anniversary with non powered risers. I just plug the single extra molex in on the board and everything works fine.
1860  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What hardware should I start out with? on: February 14, 2017, 06:48:09 PM
The problem is in those kind of close quarters almost any current generation miner will be too loud. The one miner built for home use (Antminer R4) has a horrendous track record for reliability so I cant recommend that one. There are a number of people that have purchased quieter fans for their miner to try and mitigate some of the sound but im not sure if even that is livable in such a small living space.
