1561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining eth tokens on: July 21, 2017, 10:47:41 PM
No, you are way off base on that.
1562  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New Miner S7 w/ raspberry pi on: July 21, 2017, 03:54:45 PM
All bitmain miners come with their own controller. The only miner that would make use of that RPi is the Avalon 741
1563  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why does "cloud mining" service work? on: July 21, 2017, 03:52:16 PM
One reason for cloud mining over mining for a company only is with cloud mining you have guaranteed income on the books that looks better to potential investors or if you are trying to get a loan. It is much harder to prove a stable income when you are only mining and being paid in crypto as its value changes second to second. TryNinja is also correct, it enables you to build out quicker if you have a facility that is in need of more hardware.
1564  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Should each of my mining machines have UPS? (Uninterrupted Power Supply) on: July 21, 2017, 03:49:51 PM
A UPS is only for saving what you have on the OS so you can shut down cleanly. In a mining situation there is no need as it does not protect the hardware in any specific way. If you have unstable power just make sure your PSU is set to NOT turn back on after power loss in BIOS as rapidly powering up and down a bunch will hurt things, otherwise you will be fine.
1565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Molex Power Adapter for PCIE Riser on: July 21, 2017, 03:36:30 PM
If all of the molex connectors are on one PSU chain you do not want to put that many. It will try and pull 300 watts through one single 12v line. I would recommend no more than 2 risers per chain on the PSU otherwise you have the possibility of melting wires.
1566  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S9 Fan speed too high!! on: July 20, 2017, 09:29:11 PM
Its fine, the fan is just misreporting its speed. As long as your temps are good you have nothing to worry about.
1567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cant keep my brand new miner stable, please help! on: July 19, 2017, 09:17:27 PM
Step 1: Stop messing with the overclocks if you cant keep it stable. Reset it all to factory defaults and leave it alone. Also you should use Gen 2 in your BIOS not Gen 1.

Step 2: Try one of the dedicated mining OS that are out there if you dont fully understand what you are doing.

Step 3:  Slap yourself a few dozen times for taking a loan out on a mining rig. If you cant afford to purchase it outright you shouldnt buy it at all.
1568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A5 DashMaster 30.2G 750W on: July 19, 2017, 09:13:20 PM
They need to drop the 100 MOQ and stop ignoring the market outside of China. Sick of ASIC companies ignoring the rest of the world...

Well they can support one guy that buys 100, or 100 people that buy 1. I think its smart business if you dont have the support infrastructure to handle a ton of tiny claims. They are not ignoring the rest of the world, they are just ignoring the hobby miners that dont understand the mining game has long moved to datacenters and specialized companies.
1569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A5 DashMaster 30.2G 750W on: July 19, 2017, 04:42:38 PM
Also remember that their last release was announced with really awesome specs that they couldnt even come close to matching.

A4 Dominator announcement:

Miner Performance: 600Mhs from 720W at the Wall or 850Mhs from 1020W

A4 Dominator actual retail speed:

280MH requiring a 1050w PSU

So take those preorder specs with a giant grain of salt
1570  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S11 on: July 19, 2017, 04:16:47 PM
You are wrong.

There is no S11 and probably wont be for a long time.
1571  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: High Volume Water Cooling, is it an option? on: July 19, 2017, 04:12:01 PM
I dont understand why so many people keep bringing up liquid/immersion cooling. Think on it for a good 30 seconds and you should be able to come up with half a dozen reasons why it is such a monumentally stupid idea.
1572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Riser card sellers gripe on: July 19, 2017, 04:08:10 PM
The 4 pin molex powered ones should come with adapters to hook them up to sata power. Is it really that big of a deal? The connector powering them doesnt matter, they all do the same thing.
1573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this a bad time to invest in AMD GPUs for mining altcoins? on: July 18, 2017, 09:05:29 PM
Basing everything on speculation makes it very hard to come to an informed decision. Your best bet is to tune out all the clueless people on this forum and weigh the pros and cons out on your own.

There is nothing to say ETH wont be profitable in a few months, not sure where people get this idea from. If you dont have the stones to sit through the ups and downs of the market you should not be investing in crypto at all. All these uninformed people scream about ETH going PoW soon when there is AT LEAST another year of ETH mining before anything like that happens.

Dismissing ZEC just because you have AMD cards seems kind of silly. While you are obviously not going to get the same hashrate as a bunch of much more expensive Nvidia cards that doesnt mean there is no profit to be had. A 6 card 580 rig makes about 75% the hash rate but at current prices is still only a 4-6 month ROI on the cards. Speculating on where people are going to point their miners at this time is pure conjecture and most likely far from accurate as this is not a market you can make judgements about months in advance.

Also just throwing this out there, in any other market an ROI under 12 months is AMAZING. The fact that people bitch and moan whenever the ROI time exceeds 5 months is so ridiculous to me and just shows how little people understand economics. As soon as they cant print money with zero effort the sky starts falling.

P.S. All signs point to Vega being complete dogshit for mining so far, and thats a good thing. If a bunch of super powerful cards flooded the market and caused insane difficulty spikes we all lose.
1574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu bubble well and truly bursting on: July 18, 2017, 05:46:22 PM
That rig will easily give you 168 MH/s on ETH with 4300 MH/s on DCR dual mining or 1800+ H/s on ZEC and a faster ROI for more profit. For the same $1400 spent on cards, you can only buy two 1080 Ti, which won't come close to the six RX 570 4GB cards in mining performance.

Actually two 1080Ti's will give you 1600 sols worth of ZEC which is pretty close in hash rate to the system you specced out except you can just throw those 2 Ti's in your current rig and mitigate all of the other costs (except maybe PSU) while having a machine that can run any game in the world at 4k 60fps.

Pretty sure id take that over the dedicated mining rig because I like to game.
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Noob in dire need of help with rig setup on: July 13, 2017, 03:14:48 PM
Try a dedicated mining OS. Simplemining, PiMP, and ethOS are all options and they all work better than Windows
1576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Linux distro for Nvidia Mining (ETH/Zcash?) on: July 12, 2017, 10:04:20 PM
PiMP actually has a solid nvidia mining solution. I run it on multiple rigs and it is stable and functional.
1577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best configuration with MSI Afterburner for 2x R7 260X OC? on: July 12, 2017, 10:00:40 PM
may be problem is making crossfire with both cards.

crossfire doesnt work for mining and its only usable with games Smiley
I really doubt it that that's the case, for your information, many people are mining with two, three or more cards to achieve a higher revenue.
Actually, sometimes it's the opposite, most games cannot use Crossfire to its full potential.

This is the problem with public forums, anyone can post anything no matter how far off base they are.

You need to disable Crossfire.
1578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How do you get 100 % uptime for your GPUs? on: July 12, 2017, 09:58:04 PM
Have you tried a better operating system? If you read through the 'help me' threads on this forum like 90% of them are people running Windows. I run linux based mining distros on dozens of machines and have nearly zero issues once they are setup and mining. I have machines that have been hashing for weeks without even being looked at.
1579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I need cheap solutions for 6 - 7 card GPU on: July 12, 2017, 06:47:43 PM

ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 - $80

Why do folks insist on recommending a board that has been OUT OF PRODUCTION AND IN VERY SHORT SUPPLY (when you can find them at ALL?) for 2+ years now?

For reference, Intel stopped making the chipset that board uses ballpark *4* years back.

I am so glad at least one other person recognizes how silly it is to chase down such an old board when there are so many currently functional options.
1580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: July 12, 2017, 03:39:20 PM
I get 800 sols on an EVGA hybrid 1080Ti and 600 sols on an EVGA hybrid 1080, something is wrong for sure
