1881  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: February 03, 2017, 07:29:19 PM
The problem with waiting a month to get your machine is that the first month is where you make the most back with this machine.  They know this. They have been playing us too long. Eventually people do wise up!

BR

You guys ascribe all these dastardly notions to bitmain like their entire business model is to be out to get you. It is such an ignorant viewpoint. Have you ever thought maybe they have a glut of machines to ship out and that is just how long it takes? If a company orders 1500 machines, guess what? Your 2 machines will get shipped out after. Not to mention the two week shutdown for chinese new years.  Its not like they dont give you the shipping date right on the order page. If you don't like it quit buying their product if all you are gonna do is bitch and whine about it on the forums. You all know what you are getting into. You all know the reliability issues. You all know the estimated shipping dates. If you cannot make an informed decision based on the available information it is nobody's fault but your own.

I seriously think the T9 was introduced to address these reliability issues.

I told people when the T9 came out that this was the case but since I couldn't reveal my source for the information of course the cynics didn't believe me lol
1883  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: February 03, 2017, 12:56:34 AM
I would look into a stronger power supply than that. You do not want to push a PSU to 96% of its rated load considering you want it running 24/7/365 for as long as possible.
1884  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is safe to install this custom firmware in my S9? on: January 31, 2017, 09:12:47 PM
not 100% sure on the S9 but I replaced the back fan on hundreds of S7s with a fan that had no PWM. As long as the controller can see the RPM its fine even if it cannot control it.
1885  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is driving the difficulty jump? on: January 31, 2017, 06:47:58 PM
It is still profitable even if you pay for electricity. There are hundreds of calculators out there, you can find an answer to your question in under a minute with the google machine.
1886  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What Kind of Outlet is This? on: January 31, 2017, 06:46:48 PM
Any single phase PDU will work. Just change the plug to match what is on the wall. PDU plugs are easy to disassemble and replace, just a few screws and you can unhook all the wiring and swap plugs.

You need to put this in the altcoin forum, this is for bitcoin only
1888  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is driving the difficulty jump? on: January 31, 2017, 02:39:00 AM
Fools who keep sending Bitmain huge sums for their outrageously overpriced miners.

Funny, the T9 currently has the best price per GH of any miner on the market yet you single bitmain out for being overpriced. Flawed logic is flawed.
1889  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Newb and in need for help on: January 30, 2017, 08:00:18 PM
If you power cycled the machine a few times and the board comes up the same way showing only 7 chips than you for sure have a dead board and should get it warrantied ASAP.
1890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BEWARE Bitmain S7/S9 failures and lack of warranty on: January 30, 2017, 07:57:06 PM
I have seen a few odd machines here and there catch on fire for no apparent reason. I know they did not coat the s7 boards with nay protective material and you can actually build up enough dust to short out the boards. Corrosion is also a well known killer of s7 boards. If you have high humidity that could be a cause for concern as well.
1891  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 55nm Bitfury chips - Direct 220V Project on: January 30, 2017, 07:13:40 PM
Hit me up if you ever need more chips. I have hundreds of the old bitfuy H cards
1892  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BEWARE Bitmain S7/S9 failures and lack of warranty on: January 30, 2017, 07:06:00 PM
All they do is blame everything else (P/S, Internet connection, etc.) Yeah Bitmain, my Antminer went on fire because I lost Internet ! You are absolutely correct !! Jerkoffs.

Actually this is a known issue with the S7s and firmware on or before Nov 2015. I lost 40 units to a failed switch once. All you have to do is upgrade the firmware to the May 11th/23rd 2016 firmware and that will not be an issue.
1893  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: January 30, 2017, 07:01:23 PM
In the ultra cynical world of bitcointalk I guess i better post some pictures before people start calling me a liar.

When you bought yours did you need to wire money, or are they willing to take BTC as payment?

These test units were purchased second hand from someone that got in on the original batch of 5000 at release because ebang was sold out so I am unable to answer this question.

Were you able to have them shipped to US? If so, how much was shipping?

I was actually in China to receive the units so I shipped them myself. It was about $300 USD for all 5 units I believe through some random Chinese shipping depot.

How is the noise from these compared to the s7/s9?

These are much quieter than the bitmain units. I dont have a meter so the answer is subjective but they are easily half as loud as S7s with fans at full tilt.
1895  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Thinking of large sum of money into mining. Need opinions on: January 28, 2017, 04:25:34 AM
Yea we actually looked into some old alcoa locations due to the fact that they already had so much heavy power ready to go but ended up going another direction.

I tend to look at things from a larger business point of view and I think thats my disconnect with most of the people on this site. Personally I wouldnt consider what you have a farm, thats still something you could run out of your basement. I may be a bit jaded in that respect because I manage thousands of machines daily so my sense of scale in the industry doesnt match up with many other people.

I totally agree a quality mining setup will give you a better return than just sitting on BTC at present. We are at a time where there will not be improved miners coming out for quite a while so anything purchased today will have a longer shelf life than pretty much any miner in the past. 100k will get you a manageable starting point to get into the mining game. As I stated before it is a small enough number of machines that a single person could run the business no problem. Heck if you didnt want to do the monitoring on a place like that yourself I could come out and setup a server to remote into and I could manage/monitor it all for the right price.
1896  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Thinking of large sum of money into mining. Need opinions on: January 26, 2017, 10:30:51 PM
Alcoa moved most everything they do offshore so they didnt have to deal with EPA regulations and all that other fun environmental protection stuff the civilized countries have implimented.

I think there is confusion between us over the terminology.  I am not sure what you consider a 'smaller miner/farm' as people on this site tend to call their 10-20 unit setups a farm.

This is the software section, you need to post this in the marketplace.
1898  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer R4 - dead hash board? Shitty design, read before you send it back on: January 26, 2017, 10:22:40 PM
The boards are in a single long string, with that many chip failures you will not ever get it to hash. You will have to warranty it (after chinese new year)
1899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: H97 Anniversary with RX480 and RX470 RIG Problem on: January 26, 2017, 02:15:36 AM
I have 50 of these motherboards with six 380x's each in them using NON POWERED risers. It sounds like there might be a problem with your board if you cannot get anything to work solo in the 16x slot, I would RMA it.

P.S. Run linux for your mining OS, throwing windows into the mix just adds more problems. I started out with Win10 and replaced it within a week due to all the issues it had running multiple GPUs.
1900  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer T9 Bitcoin Miner on: January 26, 2017, 01:45:27 AM
We went ahead and purchased 15 R4's and 20 of the T9's for our own operation. We will keep you guys updated and post some pics when they come in hopefully this week!
T9's and R4's have been since Friday/Monday! Here are a few pics of them Smiley http://imgur.com/a/vYxSj

Looks great. My question is why would you buy R4's for a datacenter installation where noise is not an issue? The cost per gh on the R4 is 30% higher than on an S9.
