I don't think people hate it, but I think the altcoin movement is kind of pathetic.
Word. Until someone invents a better cryptocurrency that isn't Bitcoin, Ditcoin, Sitcoin, or Titcoin, then we may as well refer to them as flavors. Still beats Swiftcoin tho.

Anyone thought about a rebranding of this coin? Maybe change the name to something a little less "jokey"? Maybe have a new re-announcement?
I will ditch this coin if the name ever changes. This coin is much too tasty for a rebranding.

Smoothie likes it.
Now here's a red flag... For those of you who mine or use Litecoin can you please tell me why you find it more attractive than Bitcoin?
Apparently it's more profitable. Also, it can be GPU mined, while BTC is headed for ASICs. Otherwise it's mostly Bitcoin wearing lipstick and heels.

I suppose it's possible, but it'd be a very strange, artificial coin.

It's decentralized and nothing is backing it.

And where is Bitcoin on that image? They can't ignore us forever

Community moderation? X amount of "flags" means user's post gets removed? More flags means the user is muted for some time? Well, maybe it's open to abuse... But it works in TF2 When it's not being abused, that is.

People get those religious feelings about money here, don't touch them at the wrong place. lol Always pretend to hold, or some Bitcoin Hitler will kick you.
Bitcoin Hitler won't need to kick you, as those who sell low will just be kicking themselves. What if those people ARE Bitcoin Hitler? The plot thickens... I feel busted Post count: plot thickens further...

We need more supply to meet this demand!

A better question is, when will the satoshi match the dollar?

Ew gross, I can't believe I'm a carrier of USD I've been transmitting it this whole time and didn't even know it. Knew I should've been tested before I spent all that money on that girl.

The engraving isn't obvious, so as long as he doesn't tell the world he has money on his finger, he'll be safe. Most of us carry wallets (and less than 10% of us carry purses!), but we're all okay--well, sometimes we're all okay.

I'd like people stop trying to enforce their utopian visions on internet communities all the time myself.
I don't see any enforcing going on here, just suggestions. I think he's referencing the following: ...heavily moderated focused really on building bitcoin. The mods would have wide censorship abilities to keep name calling to a minimum and keep discussions on track. Freedom of speech is one thing, but the thousands and thousands of opinions that come now from left and right just drown out anything of value and building bitcoin requires more concentration then seems to be available here anymore.
Which I noticed myself. Heavily moderated is a little scary if your mod decides to go on a power trip

Maybe best to stick to BTC and learn to deal with leading 0s?
and this is why bitcoin is currently a geek thing! ;/ The general public with prefer to do without than to learn to deal with anything! The concept of marketing is all about making things easy for people. Make it look like a dollar, and they might warm to it. Make it look like the missing part of the pi equation and bitcoin is going to have no friends! The general public really isn't an issue, as the general public tends to do things on a whim after "everyone else" is doing it. What's Bitcoin to the general public? I don't know, but my idol is using it, and I heard my geeky pal is making money off it, so it must be legitimate and, ultimately, a good thing, so I will divert my attention toward it and maybe even setup a wallet so I can start getting some, too. The only thing we need is time, and room for BTC to breathe, and the general public will tag along with the next best technology. Left unhindered, Bitcoin will spread like a virus, despite the lengthy sciency mathy explanation as to what it actually is. Ok back on topic, I believe once .001 becomes a common denomination for basic things, mBTC will gain traction. Right now, 1 USD is equal to roughly BTC.02~ (rounded up), and 1 mBTC is worth about 6 cents. Considering psychological techniques in marketing, it's generally better to list something as .05 BTC, than it is to list it as 50 mBTC, as .05 BTC looks much cheaper--it's only 5 bitcents! A bitnickel If, however, BTC were to jump really high in price (let's say, $1,000 to one BTC), then you have parity with mBTC to the dollar. At this point, it would be great to start using mBTC, instead of using .001, as I don't know what to call a fraction of a bitpenny that's relevant to the USD Perhaps then mBTC would look much more attractive in style, despite both being correct usage.

Surprising how many have 10,000$+ invested!
Holding bitcoins worth 10,000$ does not mean one had to invest 10,000$... Exactly. Question in thread title and one you posted does not really match. There are people who have a lot of bitcoins but invested no fiat money in them directly but through buying mining hardware, electricity bills and so on. I bought not a single Satoshi by now, but I'm close to you top category. How? Faucets (bitcoin giveaways) 1%, mining 4%, doing some actual work for bitcoins 95%. So your 1st question applies to me, but 2nd not. You should clarify what exactly interest you. Im asking how many USD your Bitcoins are worth. duh He said duh, therefore you are a silly sally, SubSTRATA.

History in the making right here

Every time BTC goes up in price, someone calls it a bubble. And then it isn't. Unless we're supposed to be falling down to single digits anytime soon
