Keiser's the founder of the Church of Satoshi.

Take that, Scientology!
3802  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you guys think of DEFCAD.com? on: March 11, 2013, 05:47:24 PM
I've known about 3D printing for a while now, and this is completely remarkable.  The post-scarcity economy is just coming closer and closer and closer.  The industry is dying rapidly in every sect.  They thought the pirate bay was bad?  Now we can 'pirate', as one commenter said, "prosthetics for your child."  No more patent holder, no more laborers to put the fucking things together--now a machine can just make whatever it is your heart desires.

In other news, jobs will further decline, and these chains are ripe to come off once and for all Tongue

Edit:  They also accept crowd funding in bitcoins, if anyone wants to send a few their way.

3804  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much is BFL spending on publicity on: March 11, 2013, 04:59:57 PM
Loads, I bet. It's a great return. Can't help it if people are gullible enough to trust an ad without doing any research. With all the scam accusations floating around in several threads, I don't feel bad for anyone who buys into them beyond this point.

My first post, and  Shocked this topic. What a way to start off on the forum

With enough time and alcohol, you'll forget all about it Grin

Why, I vaguely remember my first...  Ahh, she was a beauty...

I mean.  What?

the examples, so beautiful Smiley
since how long are you enjoying ur talent?

Thank you for your kind words Grin

That's a tough question to answer.  I've been drawing since I was a child, like most people.  When I hit puberty, I was obsessed with an anime called FLCL, and for whatever reason, I wanted to draw just like they did.  So I got a How to Draw Manga book for Christmas and tried learning from it.  I was fairly mediocre for years...

<-- Supposed to be Haruko.

And I stopped drawing for VERY long periods of time, for months at a time between works.  But when I did draw, I tried, and kept trying, and got frustrated every time.  I still do get frustrated Tongue  But around the time I turned 18 or 19, I saw on deviantArt certain artists which knew how to paint beautifully using tablets on PC, specifically Mike Henry and Genzoman.  So I decided to get one of my own.  I still wasn't very good, but I was definitely picking up a lot of different techniques.  The first time I ever attempted to paint was through Photoshop.

So I'd say I've been painting seriously for at least 2 years, max 3.  But I've been drawing off and on for at least 8, not including anything I did pre-FLCL Tongue
3808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix will be the next one on: March 11, 2013, 02:48:53 AM
I dunno, maybe Netflix will go under.  That would be good.  A service like a premium YouTube would be great, something like Steam for indie movies and animations.  Anything to kill the entertainment industry and give artists back their souls would be cool.

Supposedly it shows up during the registration process.

But who reads those anyway? Roll Eyes
3810  Economy / Economics / Re: History of Gold Confiscation on: March 11, 2013, 12:32:43 AM
...would get anyone to start thinking critically of their own gov...

lol, until today I have personally never found anyone beside myself to think critically of their own government. The government could start claiming rights to kill people with drones on domestic soil, f**k the s**t up in the economy for years, destroy all personal interest in the name of national interest and people will queue in line to vote again every time.

People need rulers, people want others to tell them what to do. It comforts them. Nothing can change that. People now are extremely skeptical of bitcoin, but you'll see that if/when it gains traction people will simply fall in line - not because they read the source code, not because they understand the benefits, and not even because they understand bitcoin at all. It's because that's what everyone around them is handing them, just like they took fiat. You can change the design of the system, but the system remains.

I beg to differ about needing rulers.  I believe it is because children are raised with the notion that they absolutely need rulers to survive that keep them stupid, and are trained to laugh at anyone who thinks otherwise--you'll still find them even here, where people call someone else a conspiracy theorist for implying the government does not have society's best interests in mind.  I believe if schools trained people to think, as opposed to training them to shut-down and simply listen, it could be entirely possible to live within a society which denies their rulers and denies anyone who attempts to rule them.  Just look at us, after all; many of us are the ones who slipped through the cracks and realized where we sit in the world, despite what school did.  So if it's possible for you and I, it could be possible to be wide spread.

However, in our life time, I agree; people need rulers, and that's not going to change for our generation, or the next generation, but the generation after that might see the day!
3811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix will be the next one on: March 11, 2013, 12:13:43 AM
Bitcoins for stolen movies would probably win over Netflix for bitcoins.

Doubtful, since TPB still handles that for free Tongue
3812  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bit Rookie | Social Network on: March 10, 2013, 11:38:36 PM
Another user here was advertising Facebook under a new brand to attract Bitcoiners.  (If that's not a noun, it is now.)  It doesn't do anything except pretend to be Facebook.  Social networks are still around, Bitcoin isn't changing that.  Unless you have something brand new and amazing to bring to the table to do to Facebook what it did to MySpace, it's not worth it.

Only 4% of BTC users are female?  Crazy!

Does that really surprise you?

It brings up many questions, to say the least Grin

On this note, the prices seem to come out a tad higher than what MT Gox is saying...hrmmm

3819  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-10 ZeroHedge: The Demographics of Bitcoin on: March 10, 2013, 07:25:21 PM
I always regret reading the comments.  Half the people there are freaking crazy  Shocked

But that's really interesting--I remember taking this survey a little while ago.  Everything seems to be in order, except the male to female ratio.  Only 4% of BTC users are female?  Crazy!
3820  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is one of the devs (Luke-Jr) an enemy of Bitcoin ? on: March 10, 2013, 07:03:23 PM
Well, if the guy likes people telling him what to do and how to act, let him be.  As long as he doesn't turn BTC into fiat, his work can only help Bitcoin.
