461  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 08, 2023, 12:55:13 AM
It is very hard to win in a lottery because most of the results are based on the numbers of winners. Many people enters into lottery because they believe that they can make money from forecasting games but one of the challenges is that not everyone that do have the luck to keep winning in a lottery. There is no need for one to even have a skill to win in a lottery. Winning is based on mostly luck to keep winning. Sometimes someone can win and the next time they will win again might be in a donkey years. I prefer normal sport betting than lottery because the chances of us winning are very slim.
After I read what you wrote and you said several times that winning the lottery will depend on luck, I really agree, but all this is done just to try your luck with the amount you can afford. Like what I do, sometimes I buy lottery tickets several times with quite small amounts. to try my luck I got a big multiplier from the lottery and who knows if we are lucky to get a big win with a small ticket purchase so there is no harm in always trying with a smaller amount.
If you say you prefer sports betting with a more moderate risk of losing your money, you have to remember and look at how many big clubs in several leagues have lost or failed to win the match and I'm sure if there is a match between a big club and a weak club, it will definitely You will bet on the popular club but you will be surprised to see the club you chose being defeated by a weak club and this is the surprise in sports betting like luck in lottery.
Everything related to gambling is based on luck and for that, we have to only stake an amount that will not affect us when and if our luck doesn't pay off,  I don't really participate in lottery ticket buying but the few times that I do,  I only spend a few cents at least an amount I can afford to just throw away.

But bad luck for me I did not pick the lucky number for that round and I lost and ever since then,  I quit buying lotteries and only gamble with either sports bet or other in-house games that require my involvement in the game process.
That's true. Don't spend in gambling the money that you can't live without, a rule that many gamblers can't follow due to their belief that gambling is the answer to their problem.

Anyway, lottery is a luck based games, therefore if you buy a ticket don't expect anything, since the chance for a gambler to win is really slim. Although it can change your life (become rich) once you hit the lucky numbers. The reason why many of us are still trying their luck to lottery, good thing the ticket is cheap.
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My regret for not adopting bitcoin earlier. on: October 06, 2023, 10:01:18 AM
My friend who first told me about bitcoin is now a millionaire in dollars. This happened before my very eyes and I have been a regret for not listening to him when he was talking to me about bitcoin. I haven’t made any significant progress in my financial life since then, but I was presented with the opportunity to change my narrative ten years ago but I couldn’t.
It's because of your doubt like many of us here when Bitcoin is just starting. We never thought the price can rise this much. You're not alone with this regret but it happened already and we can't turn back time. Let's say you did invest 10 years ago, can you keep holding up to now? Knowing the price already had a significant growth especially during bull run. Those who were able to hold their Bitcoin from the beginning up to now are the ones who made huge profit and a real long term hodler.

Anyway, it's not late to engage yourself. At least now, you have many realization about Bitcoin since you're aware of its history. Buy and hold.
463  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 06, 2023, 02:45:44 AM
With my experience in the cryptocurrency market, I decided to develop a short-term Bitcoin spot trading strategy using the TradingView platform and its strategy programming tool. I managed to create a strategy that yields an average annual return of 20% according to backtesting. My question is, is this return acceptable, or in your opinion, what would be an acceptable or good return?
For me that's pretty good already, so if you put a huge capital then you'll also have a decent return from it. But how certain you're 20% is accurate annually? The market is unstable and the profit is depending on its status so if you can make it to be consistent for annual return then it's acceptable.

Anyway, as long as you're gaining that's a good progress. When we trade or invest, regardless of how much we gain, what matter is we profit, right?
464  Economy / Economics / Re: Women are more economical than men. on: October 06, 2023, 12:44:43 AM
We had this argument where I was the opinion that most men spend money on things that they are obligated to and cannot control it at times due to responsibilities, men are used to spending money already and because of being used to it, they can find it hard to be as economical as women can be. Do you agree with this unpopular opinion that women are more economical when it comes to money and are able to manage themselves and their homes better than men do?
I agree to this. Because women are often the ones managing the finances of the family in general (food, bills, transpo etc.). So they know how to budget and value the money by prioritizing the needs before wants. Sometimes, even nothing is left for them, they can sacrifice themselves by not buying the things that can make them happy (cosmetics, jewelries or pampering themselves) just to make sure their kids are getting everything they need.

However, there are also cases wherein some men are economical than their partner, therefore it doesn't mean all women are like this. So it depends on the character of the person. Because personally I have a guy friends who can handle their family's finances better than their wives for being wise.
465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let fear to lose be motivation to learn on: October 05, 2023, 07:52:53 AM
If beginners allows their fear to motivate them to learn first their won't be drastic lose in trading.
It's understandable to have this fear for newbies because they're not familiar how trading/investing works. It's a human nature and probably majority of us also experienced this when we're just a newbie in crypto.

Therefore if you're afraid to lose your capital, do something to avoid it. Fill your mind first with knowledge, it's the basic thing that a newbie should do. It doesn't guarantee that you'll not face losses in the future but it's the key to maximize the possibility to gain in your journey rather than losing your money. Sometimes losses are inevitable but that's how you can learn a lesson, if you failed use it as your motivation to improve.
466  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 05, 2023, 03:32:02 AM
as long as you can still make money, don't even think about retiring early, I know early retirement is everyone's dream but who knows what will happen next, you have to maintain your grades and productivity so that you stay healthy and respected by people.
Well, if you love your job don't retire early since you're not just working but also enjoying it. Otherwise, think if it's still healthy for you to stay or maybe retiring early is the best decision to do. It doesn't mean you'll do nothing after since you can still seek for another source of income alternative to working 8 hours a day. It can be being an entrepreneur so you holds your time, your profit and most importantly you're the boss.

Anyway whatever your decision, what matter is you plan for it and it's not a sudden decision. As you've said, if you're still capable to work then do it, because we'll never know what lies ahead. Retire if you're already confident as financially stable.
467  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Si Satoshi Nakamoto nga ba ito? on: October 05, 2023, 12:29:27 AM
Isa pa may community note na from X na the account is portraying to be someone they are not. Ewan ko nalang kung may maniniwala pa dyan.
So true.

468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Getting paid on gambling accounts on: October 04, 2023, 09:04:54 AM
I made a mistake of getting paid for signature campaign in gambling platform accounts.
When I got my payment, I thought I would slowly increase the amount by about 5-10% before I initiate a withdrawal. But I quickly lost control of my emotions and ended up blowing the entire balance of my account. This happened more than once, it happened about 5 times as I received money from different sources.
It’s important for me to tell this story so that others don’t make the same mistake I did. This has been a huge life lesson in managing money and emotional self-discipline .
That's a lesson learned for you. Actually it also happened to me before, but it's not a choice but a rule that the payment of sig earnings will be directly credited to my gambling account. The problem is not because the funds are in my account, but the thought that I can possibly increase it if I tried to play hunts me. Same outcome of what you experienced, I also lose my money.

If you come to think of it, this is not because you have funds to use for playing, but more on the greed for wanting more. The reason why having a self-control is important. Regardless where your fund is, if you have no self-control, there's still a possibility that you'll use (or transfer your money) to be able to play. It's just that, there's a temptation if your money is already on your gambling account since convenient to use.
469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Flip or Trade? What’s The Bigger Gamble? on: October 04, 2023, 04:19:05 AM
What’s your take? Does day trading seem more of a gamble compared to a straight-up coin flip
What makes you think that way? If you're going to day trade without knowledge about it and just going with the flow, picking random coin and then waiting for a miracle, that's gambling.

But if you have knowledge and aware of what you're doing, has a skill and strategy to execute for a better result, it's different to coin flip. Coin flip is gambling, not complicated and no special skills needed. Just shows gambling and trading are different. Though they have similarities depending on the trader's style on how he/she trade.
470  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading can ruin you on: October 04, 2023, 01:32:00 AM
Trading is most times profitable and sometimes challenging to traders, but it can ruin you just as gambling if you don't know how before venturing into it
Trading is indeed challenging, but to become profitable depends on a trader's knowledge and skills. Most times profitable is not really accurate, if this is true then I should stick to it rather than switching to be a long term hodler. Because not all are successful, though some traders are really gaining decent profit. But even you're an experienced trader already, it doesn't mean you won't face any losses since sometimes it's inevitable.

So trading can ruin you if you started your journey without knowledge, it's like you're just guessing (more like a gambling). Thus it's crucial to take time to learn and gain experience before trying to trade with a huge amount.
471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can money be saved in gambling sites? on: October 03, 2023, 09:50:41 AM
We should not save large amounts of money on any gambling platform and I recommend withdrawing the balance to prevent something unexpected from happening on the gambling platform, if we have a high balance on gambling it will affect gambling on higher bets, because we think we have spare money to recover losses but actually bad choices that increase the risk of high losses on your balance. I rarely leave large balances on exchanges and gambling because I worry about making mistakes, so it's better to leave some money that I can afford to lose for gambling needs.
We only need to set aside enough money in a gambling account, especially if the money is for gambling the next day, so we don't need to deposit any other money. For the most part, we can withdraw the money and send it to another personal wallet to prevent anything unexpected on the gambling platform so that we won't lose the money, especially if it is winning money we have previously received. That's to prevent bad things because we don't know what will happen later. We can only try to prevent everything and that is for our good too. And if we only leave enough money in our gambling account, it will reduce the risk of bad things that could happen.
That's not hard to do if you're a kind of gambler who is not easily tempted to use the money to play regardless of where it came from (either from deposit or winnings from the said platform). But usually, if we have funds on our account, we tend to use it to play our favorite gambling games. This is also the reason why it is not advisable to deposit money on your gambling account just for the purpose of saving.

In addition, casinos often have a wagering requirement before you can withdraw your initial deposit so it's not really a good idea to store your funds on gambling platform.
472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Educate yourself to be a frugal gambler on: October 03, 2023, 03:43:27 AM
Play for fun. If you are not playing for fun, you are doing it wrong. Gambling should be done to entertain yourself only, and always remember that gambling is not a sound financial investment. I have witnessed the horrors of people who blow their kids college funds and life savings on gambling at a Casino. Don't be one of these people. Have a daily or weekly gambling budget and learn which games you like and how to play them so that you can actually have much more fun playing them than just winging any game.
That's how it should be. Gambling is not a source to earn money so relying on the profit you can possibly get when you gamble is not really right. Because you're not even certain if you can double your money when you use it to play.

Therefore, it's just right to gamble with a desire of having fun. So you can enjoy the games and you'll not be pressured to win because your reason for playing is to entertain yourself. If only many gamblers can have this mindset, then we can prevent seeing them becoming addicted due to lack of self-control.
473  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a mentor in my bitcoin journey. on: October 03, 2023, 01:41:21 AM
Well, if there's someone willing to guide you (someone you personally know), that's better. But if you're going to pay for the service then it's not ideal. A mentor is not necessary to start your journey in Bitcoin since everything a newbie needs to know can be done if you exert an effort to do your own research.

Plenty of articles are on the internet (just choose a reliable source), full of information about Bitcoin. Hence, make reading a habit to gain knowledge. And of course as others have said, this forum is a reliable source of information, not just for Bitcoin but for crypto in general.

475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New ID requirements for Gamblers in Australia on: October 02, 2023, 07:50:46 AM
Although most casinos ask for KYC, yet minors still gamble on their elders ' IDs (Elder brother or father). I wonder by introducing this ID verification what special Australia is looking to achieve from it?
To prevent the minors to gamble online. This is a good initiative to get rid (or if not), to minimize the minors playing even they're still underage since online casinos are accessible and anyone can lie about their real age.

Although this might discourage the gamblers who don't want to expose their identity and still wants to have a privacy, they can't do anything about it but to comply. Otherwise, you can't enjoy playing online because of this new requirement.
476  Economy / Gambling / Re: Restricted on casino bonuses on: October 02, 2023, 04:28:41 AM
I'm just curious on why casino offer a bonus that they can't handle once user keeps winning using this. They can adjust the requirements to make it more competitive instead of removing all the benefits to user just because he keeps winning. It's not player problem if he is very lucky.
As others have said, bonuses are meant to attract the gamblers (particularly the new users) to play on their site. If you're that lucky to defeat them, it's not surprising that they will restrict you on these special offers.

Casino is a business, and if many gamblers are losing their money on their casino, that means more revenue for their business. But a gambler who often win is not good for their casino. Therefore this action has been made. Often, small casinos can't handle such player, but for huge casino, I think this won't be the case. Anyway, I hope you still have that same luck on the new casino where you switched to play.
477  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: October 02, 2023, 02:39:56 AM

478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to identify shitcoins? on: October 02, 2023, 01:08:08 AM
most of the new coin are shitcoin, therefore to avoid shitcoin, then I suggest you not to invest in new coin and only invest in popular coin (safer), therefore I suggest you only invest in Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency, so Bitcoin will not become shitcoin and Bitcoin price will continue to increase, therefore by investing in Bitcoin, you will get a big profits in the future.
not all new coin shitcoins though, there are many good coins, if every new coins judged as shitcoin then there will be no innovation at all.
after all the new coin also need support so that they can grow, most of the shitcoins are just those deployed without any product backing it up, quite different with good coins.

I see any coins that require crowdfunding a shitcoins.  The main reason is that they don't have funds to start the project, they can't convince any private investors to fund their project so they resort to crowdfunding that usually got carried away by hype and empty promises.

That's true. It's easy for the dev to run away after accumulating significant amount from the investors who trusted them. The reason why it's hard to find a good coin from the new ones because you have to dig deeper to see if there's a gem among them.

To identify a shitcoin, check the whitepaper, roadmap, the team (and its transparency and their previous works), the community and if there's a use case that can solve real problem for it to function with purpose and not just relying on hype. It's not going to be easy but if you're careful not to fall on good promises, then you'll spot a coin that is good to invest in.
479  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: October 01, 2023, 09:10:19 AM

Casinos may ask gamblers for KYC verification for various suspicious activities. Now in this situation a gambler has nothing to do. Casinos create their T&C in such a way that they are in a position of maximum advantage in situations where gamblers cannot opt out because they are trapped in the T&C. But it is also true that there are many gamblers who use the casino to do illegal activities like money laundering, and then it would be considered a good step if a casino asks for KYC verification to catch users involved in those illegal activities.

$5000 is the most casino base amount on transactions before KYC is demanded and as long as it goes if the gambler operates within a set limit he will not have KYC demands.

So if you are in within the deposits and withdrawal trench hold and kyc is demanded it means there are suspicious activities from the account.
You are right, every platform online, gambling casinos, exchanges, all have a deposit and withdrawal limit for non kyc users, but this is for the legitimate platform who have decided to follow the rules and regulations laid out for them by their regulatory body.

Aside the above, I have seen and used platforms where one is allowed to deposit but can't withdraw without kyc, and there are other platforms too where a user won't be allowed to make a deposit without kyc verification, Ive come across one casino like that but I forgot the name..

But in all, the long and short of the matter is, any gambler who knows he or she will be depositing and withdrawing big amounts from online casinos, such user should endeavor to pass kyc verification to avoid withdrawal problems especially.
Indeed. There are still few casinos that doesn't require their gamblers to pass KYC and still able to deposit and withdraw as long as you didn't exceeds the limit.

But nowadays, it's common for licensed casinos to ask their customers to comply in KYC, and I think it's much better to do it beforehand. This way you won't face any problem incase you'll going to withdraw a decent amount in the future. In addition, only choose a reputable platform to gamble because they will not deceive their gamblers about their rules just to attract them to play on their site.
480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Violence and anger could be a sign of gambling addiction in youths on: October 01, 2023, 05:42:25 AM
Is there any effective way to make sure youths stays where the are told to stay instead of looking for quick money? Gambling isn't the solution to poverty it will possibly drown you deep into more poverty.
Many factors can tempt the youth to try out gambling and one of that is the influence of their friends. The proper guidance of the parents might not be totally the effective way but has a huge impact on the kid's behavior and on how they see things.

Anyway, violence and anger issues can be related to gambling addiction of a person, and it's not limited to youth, but in general. Even adult gamblers who experience losses tend to have such personality (though not all since it depends how you deal with it). This usually happen if you can't accept the outcome then you tend to pour out your anger to someone even it's solely your fault.
