The Ashes start in 2 weeks from now, it will be interesting to see who the Australian selectors will pick to play the first test. I'm sure that Warner and Smith will slot straight back in even though I thought Smith had a poor World Cup but he's test match form has always been a lot better then ODI. Warner had a great World Cup campaign which should have him ready for the test series. Its going to be an interesting series as both teams haven't done all that well in test matches in recent times.

The latest news is that Cameron Bancroft and Marnus Labuschagne may get selected to the Australian team. Both of them had a good outing during the recently concluded county cricket season in England. Also, Alex Carey is almost certain to be selected, after his stellar performance during the world cup. On the other hand, Stoinis and Maxwell have been left out of the preliminary 25-member squad.

Warner and Smith will definitely be selected and who knows Smith may even be given the caption role, it’ll be a bold move if the Australian selectors do that. Wade has been touted as a potential backup for Paine, and it makes sense having a backup wicketkeeper. Alex Carey’s performance in the World Cup may just land him a spot in the starting line, and I think that’ll be a wise decision given his recent performances. Both will be in and definitely OZ will come back very strongly as they have lost to England poorly in the world cup which resulted in the out from world cup. On other hand England will be on top after winning the maiden world cup and would continue their great cricket.

I don't think they will ever make Smith the captain again, but they will definitely select him and Warner for sure due to their consistent performances in the World Cup. Australia would most probably never reach the semi-finals without those two. Alex Carey will surely be selected due to this stand out performances and he was already promoted up the order in the semi-finals. He has a lot of potential.

Alex Carey, Tim Paine, Wade.... jeez 3 wicketkeeper batsmen in the squad, I have my doubts that they all can fit into playing XI together. I highly doubt that Tim Paine is going to be drop because of Wade. He's doing Wicketkeeper-Captain's job fine and OZ not going to hand over the captaincy to Smith, so Captaincy and spot in the squad are already fixed for him. I am excited for Warner-Smith duo and i am sure English crowd is waiting for them as well. They are going to welcome this Duo nicely in Edgbaston, Birmingham hope that it doesn't get ugly.

In their eyes, they are basically tainted for life which is pathetic if you ask me. Everyone deserves a second chance in my opinion. For example, the Indian selectors should have selected Rayudu instead of Shankar. Until now, they were never able to select the perfect person for the number 4 spot and we could all see that. It will be interesting to watch how Australia performs against the World Cup winning England side.

True its sad but can't blame the spectators completely, its just not about that " they cheated and crowd want to boo them" there are lot of bad blood in between spectators and cricketers, in terms of sledging, booing etc and its goes way back. English players receives same kind (may be worse) of treatment from Aussie crowd. I am trying to stay away from any news related to Indian Cricket, don't want to start my rant on this

Ah! Good to be back here. I have locked the prediction pool. Thanks guys. Back to the regular conversation, seems like we are going for Ashes talk? English team is in their pick after winning the world cup and I am sure this Ashes will be more interesting then some of the recent series. Both Australia and English team are most likely have the same strength. By the way, I am just curious to discuss about Ben Stokes innings in the final match. He had a dashing world cup. Not many player can play an inning like that. His inning had a good combination of luck and skills. Fortune favored the brave.

Surprising that the ongoing discussion is limited to the upcoming Ashes series. No one is interested in the Indian tour of West Indies? The first T20 is scheduled in around two weeks from now and the surprise is that the venue for the first match is Lauderhill in Florida (Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground). ICC want to make some revenue from the Indian diaspora in the US.

I have read news today ICC gave the reasons for the 6 runs decision for Ben Stokes in the final over which lead England to win the match that day fortunately. We must know whether there is some gambling behind this or something.

I wasn't aware of that match's venue. International cricket match in the USA? Sounds nice. I have read news today ICC gave the reasons for the 6 runs decision for Ben Stokes in the final over which lead England to win the match that day fortunately. Is this what you're talking about? “The umpires take decisions on the field with their interpretation of the rules and we don’t comment on any decisions as a matter of policy,” an ICC spokesperson was quoted as saying by foxsports.com.au.
IMO, this is a ridiculous comment. However, the New Zealanders should've remained in their senses when the umpire was assigning 6 runs for the over-throw. If the players had complained on spot, the umpires would've taken back a run.

Maybe because WI ain't really a competition for India so there might not be much interest in this series. The only way I can see interest in this series is if the WI can perform like they did when England toured the WI earlier this year, if they can perform well and give India a challenge then I think a lot of us here will be talking about the series. The Ashes have always been big so that gets all the attention.

Don't forget that it's t20 and anything can happen. Moreover, West Indies used to play better in t20 as well as against India. Their team is not perfect but will not be easy for a team like India.

Yes, West Indies play good cricket when it comes to T20, but they'll never have consistency which is the issue. They play one match extremely good and the following match very worse. In the world cup matches too same happened,. Now in the T20 they might give their best to defeat India, but India on the other hand won't let it win easily.

I am interested in only Test as of now, sad to see that they are playing only 2 test match there. t-20 in the US is just for public show and nothing much. selectors are going to announce squad for series. chances are we are going to see some new faces, Bumrah, Shami, Hardik may get rested, Vijay Shankar is not available, Dhoni's selection is big question in front of selection committee. My point of view on this is BCCI should look forward and beyond Dhoni now and give Dhoni Farewell match in Wankhede or Ranchi. ~snip~ India has good bowling attacks than WI including Bumra, Chahal, Bhuvi as well as Kuldeep. India of course has high chance of winning the match, but in t20, 2 or 3 overs can change the direction of a game.
Windies got upper hand in T-20 if we look at whole team as a package. IMO India still don't take international T-20 very seriously except T-20 World Cup.

That whole situation is messed up in so many ways. How in the world do umpires continue messing up so badly even with such rapid technological developments? Cricket umpiring standards have seriously fallen over the years. My point of view on this is BCCI should look forward and beyond Dhoni now and give Dhoni Farewell match in Wankhede or Ranchi.
I disagree. One of the main reasons I(And many others) watch cricket is to watch this legend play which is why I hope that he continues playing for a long period of time in ODIs and T20s.

Even in T20 they are not that great because mostly time they like to play like it is their life last ball so they must be hit 6, 1 of the reason of their failure in WC, if they did used their mind who knows what had happenned, they lost atleast 3 match in WC because of carelessness of their attitude. They will play same in T20 too and will lost if they won't get good score.
