My point of view on this is BCCI should look forward and beyond Dhoni now and give Dhoni Farewell match in Wankhede or Ranchi.

I disagree. One of the main reasons I(And many others) watch cricket is to watch this legend play which is why I hope that he continues playing for a long period of time in ODIs and T20s.

Well, that's the problem with us ( Subcontinent fans) we don't want our fav players to retire gracefully at the end of his career.

I believe that he should retire from ODI and mentor junior players so that new crop can be ready for the next ODI World Cup, he's not going to play next ODI world cup anyway so national team matter most in comparison of any individual. There are still some juice left in him if we look at T-20 format, so I don't mind him playing till next T-20 World Cup.

In the end its Dhoni's decision to retire or not. But believe me, when I say this, he's going to tarnish his reputation to some extent. If he continues to play without performing in the International platform, happens with everyone - no biggie-.

This is the exact reason why he gave up his captaincy to help Kohli get used to the new role way before the World Cup. Honestly, his reputation just keeps getting bigger and better with time(Just ask the CSK fans even though I am not a CSK fan myself).

Even if he does not play in the next World Cup, I would still like to see him play until he himself decides to retire. I still see him providing great entertainment value for an year or more.

The first T20 is scheduled in around two weeks from now and the surprise is that the venue for the first match is Lauderhill in Florida (Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground). ICC want to make some revenue from the Indian diaspora in the US.

Maybe because WI ain't really a competition for India so there might not be much interest in this series. The only way I can see interest in this series is if the WI can perform like they did when England toured the WI earlier this year, if they can perform well and give India a challenge then I think a lot of us here will be talking about the series. The Ashes have always been big so that gets all the attention.

The series between India and west indies will be very interesting I think, I mean only T20 matches will be interesting. Most of the t20 specialist are in west indies team so any time west indies can defeat India in T20. So personally I will wait for the day when the T20 matches will go to the field.

About Virat's Captaincy, yeah there is one section which is talking about this, typically and historically I was very against his captaincy style and expressed my feeling in real life and here as well but I have to admit in recent World Cup. He performed well as a captain, starting from Warm-up match against Kiwis.

I never understood why Dhoni was striped off of captaincy. He was the most successful captain India team ever had. Kohli on the other hand misses what I look for in leadership. He is always being surrounded by some controversy and is infamous with his temper.

Yes, you are right it is very good opportunity for him to show case his ability in this world cup and specially final world cup match, what an innings played but the Been stokes. In most of the cases he is very lucky and England got the world cup because of benstokes.

As a player yes, he did play well. As a team, they didn't deserve the cup neither did the kiwis. I wish Austalia or India could have won as these are the strongest teams out there. Nz clearly didn't belong there, they played the worst game for a cricket team playing in the finals.

The separate thread for World cup and IPL almost lost this thread. I am sure it's gonna get the life back with this India vs WI series.

Age. He is a senior player and eventually a new young guy needs the place and the change has a transition period. So it was given to Kohli while Dhoni is around.

England will play a one test match series coming up against Ireland, it will be interesting to see this match as Ireland have been doing well in test matches and if I remember correctly they pushed England the last time they played. The Ashes start in 11 days so this will be a good warm up match for England while Australia are playing a second rate team in their warm up match.

If I am not wrong, the venue is Lord's Cricket Ground in London. Ireland will be pushing hard for an upset win. They don't get these sort of opportunities regularly. This is their first test match against a top-10 side for more than a year. So they will be satisfied with nothing less than a win, which can result in a huge boost to their financial situation.

If you say India deserves the world cup, that will be wrong. India proved themselves as poor team. They weren't able to score good by middle order in any of their game, other than the one vs NZ which was also not impressive. Jadeja doesn't fall into middle order as well, he player at lower order. So, as a team, India failed in all of their matches to perform a world cup deserving.

Hilarious. The team on top of the league standings does not deserve the World Cup? Lol. India deserved the World Cup just as much as any other team out there. 45 minutes of poor Cricket does not sum up their overall performance.

England were the best performers followed by India, Australia and New Zealand in my opinion. They have been the strongest subcontinent team for sometime now and they will most likely return with a roar.

If you say India deserves the world cup, that will be wrong. India proved themselves as poor team. They weren't able to score good by middle order in any of their game, other than the one vs NZ which was also not impressive. Jadeja doesn't fall into middle order as well, he player at lower order. I have to agree with @Haunebu despite a poor performance by Indian middle order. India was a solid contender that's why they topped the point table, its not an easy feat. One bad day and you are out of World Cup race. Here I like IPL playoff format. Please check it out it makes more sense when the World Cup is at stake.

First, a semifinal game would be played between the number 1 and number 2 teams. The winner of the two games would go straight into the final. The loser though would not be out of contention.

Next, an eliminator game would be played between the number 3 and number 4 teams. The loser will get knocked out of the tournament. The winner would go on to play in the second qualifier against the losing team of the first qualifier. Now the winner of this game would qualify for the final.

I totally agree with you. I am still amazed to see ICC following archaic traditions when leagues like the IPL are adopting much better systems in order to provide improve fairness across the board.

This is why I appreciate sports like NBA and FIFA where the teams which win more points or the teams which win best of 5 rounds etc are judged final winners. The ICC needs to adopt similar formats in the future and improve the current archaic Cricket format.

The IPL format really makes sense. Top 2 team mist be given a 2nd chance to play. In league type matches, IPL elimination system would be a great edition. In that case, India and Australia could have another chance to make it.

This format seems very fair. Any team can have a bad day, so does a top team. So if they fail in the Qualifier 1 match then they get another chance in Qualifier 2 match.

If that happened then we might see different team were playing in the final. However we may not see an epic final that never happened in cricket history. Everything has its cause.
