LOL, definitely not 15 years. Maybe 50 years. The whole economy would crash if bitcoins replace dollars.

In 50 years also, a absolute replacement is not possible as each and every transactions needs to be done on bitcoin ecosystem or crypto-currency systems. So, even bitcoin goes into main stream, replacing dollars completely is not a viable as per day to day transactions.

Even I don't think so. U.S. government will leave easily. If bitcoin replaces Dollar currency It would be biggest turning point in world economy. Share markets and Investment in U.S. will get impact on this. As you  said It may after 50 years i think. Will See.!

Why are so many people desperately focussing on Bitcoin replacing the US dollar? It won't happen. Bitcoin and fiat currencies can perfectly co-exist alongside each other and can even benefit from each others existence. The US dollar will survive everything you throw at it as the US government can easily create thousands of billions out of thin air.

i cant live that long.

You need to wait dude, everyone waited for these moments to happen in their lives...
Bitcoins are still in developing mode, and as soon as it becomes mainstream, then we may say that it can actually replace any currency soon...

I think taratoor thinks in 50 years ? haha maybe I cant wait in that long year but we can use it right now so taratoor dont wait for to long try to work this out seriously at this time. Either not being number 1 currency. But if the time comes and you have lots of btc in your savings.I think Your gonna much more happier than your thoughts. ^_^

Very good point. Both bitcoin and fiat economy will exist and will serve our human beings in different ways. Because in my view there are lot of applications still require fiat economy where only up to some layers bitcoin will serve it's own part.

Exactly said, US government is good at maintaining Dollar's value. They do something somehow to keep the value good.

maybe even more than 50 years, the current economy is more than 100 years old, it will not fall so easily, and it can always be replaced by a similar scam, remember that there are many new "usd" candidate

And coinbase thought XT would work. Uh oh, RETARD ALERT! I don't think bitcoin will ever take over the dollar. Maybe it will become a side currency, but never the primary credit. It's far too volatile and had way too many flaws. Currently, our technology isn't advanced enough to handle a worldwide adoption of bitcoin.

I do not think that Dollar will replace Bitcoin soon. We can dream of bright future, we can imagine all posibilities how Bitcoin will became one currency. But this is just SF.
World today is too much stick with Dollar in all aspects of life and business. From the opposite side technology is hear to help and improve life (and business) ... it will change a way how currency will look like, but it`s way which can`t be predicted.

no, never..
bitcoin is a currency and can be changeable on exchange offices. and maybe usable on special global shops. think about that; you have a mexican pesos u can not use it in india, your exchange procedure is clear. u must change it on exchange offices.
if it can be success, u can use btc on shops, coffee houses, malls. and it sounds great. but btc price is not stable and i dont believe it never be stable. and in this situation also buyers or sellers one of them must be loose money
till 16th century Gold was used for buying things, There was no economic crisis in those period. Only after introduction of Fiat currency we saw so many economic crisis. Wish we have a globalised digital currency in future.

You are highly misinformed (or just uninformed, lol) about what actually had happened to gold (and the economy) just prior to the 16th century. May I guess that you said that number at random?

I don't think this will ever happen, I do believe that more people will adapt to the bitcoin and that it's possible that the dollar will be worth a lot less in the future.

I think dollar or any other fiat money will never fade away. But I believe gold-indexed money and cryptocurrencies (backed by banks) will be so much powerful than governments' empty paper money.

No, I don't. To be honest, I don't think bitcoin ever will. It's a great idea and ask, but it has its flaws. The dollar is now popular, more stable, and more easily understood, as all countries worldwide use the same money logic.

Bitcoin has the potential to become a secondary currency, but not the primary. Bitcoin is extremely volatile, and what money is is credit that you use to measure the value of your good. If your unit of measurement changes all the time, what's the point?

The dollar is so populair in the most country so I don't think it will replace ever and a lot of people use dollars. They understand what dollar is a real money. For some people if they hear bitcoin they think is fake or they just don't know what it is.
The most of them they don't know how to use so yeah.

No bitcoin will not replace the $ any time soon.  The price is too volatile for goods to be priced in BTC alone.  There is too much risk is storing BTC and having it stolen.

I guess if price is the problem, then we should decide and make an alt to Bitcoins like Bitcoin-S (Stable Bitcoins) which won't be traded with high volatility and price will grow with the time...
I ain't talking about any altcoin here, I am talking alternative Bitcoin here...
