Why are people scared of taxes?

I would be happy to pay taxes... voluntarily. Otherwise it's a robbery.

Taxes are scary because it is a big deduction on our salaries especially on a low wages people. That deduction can be buy food for them in one day let say. But unstead they cannot use ut because it must go to the government. However, taxes are a part of oue economy  so we have to accept it.

Taxes are only good if they go towards what we as people would like them to go. Otherwise a small few people will decide and possibly for their own agenda. I get that services for the people need to be paid from somewhere but unfortunately that is not always the case as excuses continue to build up from mistakes being madeand so taxes will continue to rise.

I don't think people are afraid of paying taxes it's just that they don't see that it helps the society.  All they see were corupt government officials who uses people's taxes for themselves.  As payers we would like to see improvement in our country not only to those puic officials who just rub the country and not helping the society.

People are scared of taxes because the two reasons: first, because of low salary, they are scared of taxes because their salary are low but the deductions of taxes are almost bigger that their salary. secondly, is where does their taxes go? to the people in a society or in the pocket of the corrupt politicians who corrupted the budget of government just to satisfy their own. Taxes are actually a big help to a government itself, but some taxes are not for the society but for one person only. for me, that's the reason why people are scared of taxes.

It's because people who pay the actual taxes don't see the physical manifestation of what they paid for. People are afraid to pay because taxes may rise again, and will take most of their hard earned cash and then not see the results again. Another important factor is that some governments misuse the taxes and splurge it on themselves rather than helping build the society.

Actually some governments are not giving benefits to tax payers due to which general public get disappointed that what is the difference between a tax payer and non tax payers when they see around them.
Itself one should not get scared of paying taxes. It is very good thing thing. If we look at the developed countries, people living there are enjoying many facilities just because they are tax payer. One should feel proud while paying taxes because ultimately it will be used for your welfare.
Government should revise their polices where people are scared of paying taxes so that general public can pay tax without any fear.

It is because the people are afraid of their government. The government may misuse the tax they collect. The mass always set their mind that the government is corrupt therefore making them afraid of paying their taxes because it'll only go to corrupt pockets.

For me the right term for this is not scared.  But tired,  people are getting tired that they are paying their taxes while those who are in government are not using this properly.  There are too many corrupt officials nowadays that would rather choose to serve their personal interest rather than due their duty to the public.

People are not scared of paying taxes, they just don't want to, they think that its another cost to pay that will not benefit them. People are selfish nowadays, they don't want to give to something that will improved the society, they only think about themselves and don't care about others. So if you think that paying taxes will benefit other people and you will just benefit a little of it, why pay taxes. That's what they think.

Nobody argues that taxes are a good thing for maintaining the country's budget. But reasonable and not take away the last from the profits, add up various more, such as the pension fund, the development of the army. Ie 20% of my profits go into the pocket to others, and this is already abnormal.

That is one of the reasons why I have tried to cut back on my tax payments (only using perfectly legal loopholes). What is the point if the taxes are used for waging wars and to provide salaries to the corrupt government officials and the bureaucrats? And another reason is that the tax rates are not very reasonable. What is the point in paying a 33% income tax, if you are paying an 18% GST on everything?

It's all really so in our country. Because of our small salary, we have to pay a lot of taxes so that corrupt rulers can live well. I think this is very unfair.

Government exists not to fulfill some roles but to tax. Robbery is the only real goal of the state. You don't need state, the state needs you as a livestock. Tell me a single thing that government does, you really need and that can't be accomplished by free market.

Because people think that the taxes they pay was only being corrupted by some government officials. It was not really used to what it meant to be. Also, many think that taxes was very high that they loss a big part of their salary, sometimes we do not consider the big picture we only think of how it is affecting our self. If even this was true, and government was what it want's you to think it is. Even then any function of the state could be done more efficient by the free market. At least you don't have to feed the state machine itself.
