Why are people scared of taxes?

People are really scared on this issue. According to Credit Karma report, fewer than 100 Americans out of the 250,000 who have already filed federal taxes have reported their cryptocurrency assets to the IRS. This figure might be cause for concern for the US tax authorities. Thus far, figures show that about 57 percent of the 2000 Americans that took part in the survey had made some gains via crypto. I don't know why ppl are always scared of paying taxes.
taxes are actually a great thing but only if everyone pays them and if they are spend on useful things only. Just look out your window and you will see lots of things paid with your taxes you use everyday.

People are afraid of taxes because I think it is a form of theft. In my country, we do not see the good outcome with our taxes, everything just goes to the pockets of these politicians.

for me people are not scared, maybe it is to high cost and may be they didn't know where the taxes used or may be they paid tax but they didn't see any result or improvement i their country ^_^ ...

A few countries are having zero income tax (examples are Qatar, Bahamas, Dominica.etc). But all the other nations have income tax varying from 10% to 55%. Only one of two nations are having tax rates lower than 10% (such as Macau, Bulgaria and Albania).

No actually wr do not afraid of paying our taxes since it is automatically deduct in our payslip of our salary. What we afraid of is that how this taxes being use by the government official. How they spend these money from the people. A lot of them will not mind of spending these money from these taxes since it is not their money to waste and sometimes these money were being pocketed by these government official. And that is the time that create fear of those who are paying especially those paying high taxes.

I agree, paying taxes means you made money. I guess for me I am 100% okay with contributing to the society that help me get in the position to make money in the first place so it's actually just paying back what I am owed back to society.

I don't think that too many people are bothered about paying an income tax, provided that it is within the tolerable limit. But the issues arise when the government want you to pay 50% of your income in the form of direct taxes, and another 25% in the form of indirect taxes. In the end, you will be left with only 25% of your income.

The purpose of tax is for the common good. All can benefit with these. We are contributing for our own good. But mostly, the people did not have knowledge about these. While others know but did not see and feel the benefit of tax. It is because some government officials and government workers did not properly use of the funds, or just use them to a selected few while some of it were illegally used or use for their own benefit. That is why the citizens did not feel the benefit. And the reason why they are scared or did not like paying their taxes.

When I talk to some people who complain about their taxes, I always think... it could be worse, you could be paying no taxes aka you're broke. Doesn't mean you have to be happy when you're poorer after the government fleeces you, but the way I hear some people complain about it you would think the world is coming to an end.

Some are scared of paying taxes because the corrupt government just steals from the oppressed. I'm not saying all the people in the government are corrupt but some are and these are the reasons society is afraid of paying taxes. Another reason is that the taxes in our country is bigger than other countries and it makes you wonder where does these taxes go if the economy isn't even prospering that much.

I think the right word should be "don't want to pay" and not scared. You only get scared if charges are filed against you for evading that obligation. Taxes are very annoying but it's nothing to be afraid of if you are doing your share.
