Borussia Dortmund's defence has lots of problems, but not only during the CWC, they have had those problems for a while now and it was their weakest spot the whole Bundesliga season. If they can't improve their defence very soon and get rid of players like Sule, I don't see how they can be able to compete with Bayern Munich or Bayer Leverkusen next season. Finishing fourth is not really acceptable for them. Kovac has a lot of work to do although I think he is really not the best coach they could get. He made it happen and they qualified for the CL on last resort, but this was more of a surprising effect that Kovac was able to bring into the team. Whether he can do it next season and maintain a high performance level for the whole season, I don't think so. He never stayed with his clubs for very long until he got sacked.

I also think so, it is unfair if we underestimate Ten Hag just because he failed with Manchester United, I think what he made when he was still the coach of Ajax must also be taken into account and acknowledged.
Leverkusen now has a strong enough team framework after being successfully built by Xabi Alonso in the last two seasons and that will make it easier for Ten Hag to continue, I think even though Ten Hag cannot make changes quickly, at least Leverkusen's performance will not fall too deep and that is an advantage for Ten Hag to be able to continue the process.

I think the thing is that different levels require different qualities. At Ajax he could play the "I'm the boss" game (he had problems with individual players there too), but at any top club such an approach is not serious, because half of the squad there are millionaire stars who don't care about someone's ego because they themselves have a huge one. Just before you compare Ten Hag's performance at Ajax with that at Manchester United,  take note to know that both teams are in completely different leagues with different challenges and different competitive challenges so he may not be able to replicate a performance from the former to the later. As a coach he is deserving of every form of support which is a very good and agreeable point,  from the team, fans and the management of the team he headed as a coach, he got some good support until a time when they were no longer getting good returns from their support.  At that time Ten Hag's system was failing and the results weren't coming and so he got all the reactions that came to him and this does not make him a bad coach, he can achieve better at Leverkusen if he changes some of his strategies to suit the league where he is now managing a team.

Ten Hag is not the best coach for this job I think, but ultimately it doesn't matter. The players are mostly responsible. Too much responsibility is taken away from them given how much they are making from their profession.

Are you trying to say that Ten Hag and Kompany have the same coaching qualities and skills. I doubt it. Ten Hag might not perform up to what Kompany did even though he has the players. Did Xabi Alonso have the quality of players that Bayern have before he won the title. I don't want to criticize anyone but I believe Ten Hag might not finish on the second position next season.
