Just some interesting news in the tennis world. Rafel Nadal's warning to world No.1: Djokovic needs vaccination to play Rafael Nadal says world No.1 Novak Djokovic will need to be vaccinated to keep playing if tennis' governing bodies make coronavirus shots obligatory once they become available.
Nadal said week that Djokovic and all players will have to follow the rules when tennis eventually returns to action.
World No.2 Nadal said no one can be forced to take the vaccine and everyone should be free to make their choices, but all players will have to comply if tennis officials require "vaccination to travel" and to "protect" everyone on the tour.
"Then Djokovic will have to be vaccinated if he wants to keep playing tennis at the top level," Nadal said. told Nadal told the Spanish newspaper La Voz de Galicia
"The same for me. Everyone will have to follow the rules, just like now we have to stay at home."
Djokovic recently said he was against taking a vaccine for the coronavirus even if it became mandatory to travel. He later said he was open to changing his mind.
https://wwos.nine.com.au/tennis/nadal-djokovic-needs-vaccination-to-play/12c67fd9-ea5e-46a7-9b9e-67cd12f6d6f5I'm not familiar with Novak Djokovic statement about not wanting to be vaccinated if ever if will be mandatory and of course if vaccine have been discovered for covid-19 virus. Obviously, everyone should get vaccinated, I don't understand why Djokovic is against it on the first place. Maybe he thinks it can affect his performance maybe? I don't know.

@Jating - yes, maybe he was concern of the after effect of the vaccine, or feel that it is unsafe. There's no way that you don't want to get vaccinated if the there are a lot of people dying from this virus. One positive note though is that he is willing to change his mind. And I'm sure that if scientist discovered a vaccine, they will take into consideration the side effects of it before releasing to the general public. But if Djokovic insists for other reasons, then his career is on the line.

I am from the same country as Novak. He is really great and smart guy and best from him come when he is maximally loaded on the tennis court. his problem is the excessive influence of his wife to him. She is a rich girl without any obligations, with a lot of free time. A lot of free time brings a lot of boredom, so she found a hobby to share smart tips. Like "how students can live with $300 monthly" (very smart and sincerely, from someone who's spent more than $300 to his puppy). I can write here easy with all her nonsense. Defending harmfulness of 5G network and the earth is a flat plate theory can explain best about her head. I don't want to say anything offensive here. If you remember when Novak sacked Marian Vajda, then he turned to her theories about healthy food and metaphysical theories. After a series of failures, he went back to the old way and voila, he started winning. quarantine condemned him to spend too much time with her, hence such unrelated things from him, but he is a smart guy who likes to win, she will reject all her nonsense. It is my personal judgement, but for sure I can find a lot of people from here who will sign all of my words here.

{.. snip ..} Thanks mate so it seems that the wife has a lot of influence on Djokovic's decision inside and outside of the court. Anyway, my thoughts is that Djokovic will take the shots if we reach the stage that it is going to mandatory for tennis players. Could it affect his performance? we really don't know at this point. But if he wanted to continue once it is going to be required by the Tennis Federation, then absolutely he needs to comply.

Djokovic is person with very special character and hearth. He recently started great Initiative to financially help less fortunate tennis players but obviously he is under influence from some "guru or life coach" with strange ideas about life and everything. Still, he is the best tennis players in the world and I'm sure that this corona crisis stoped him to reach many tennis records this year.

What do you guys think of Thiem's statement here? Here is a nice video from ranked #600 WTA player in response to what Dominic Thiem said: Open letter from algerian tennis player Ines Ibbou to top player Dominic ThiemIt's over 9 minutes, but very worth the while. I hope Thiem watched it and thought twice about his words, because it gives an insight to the struggle these lower ranked players face mainly off the courts and how hard it is to get any kind of career going, if you come from an underpriviliged background, where a lot of things are not "normal", like I assume they have been for Thiem.

Damn, this girl has the balls to really shows us how people like her and other low rank players really went just to go and play on tennis tournaments around the world. It was a slap on Dominic face, and as tennis fans, it really open our eyes on someones struggles just to get out and fulfil their life-long dreams. I'm not sure if Thiem has show the video, but I'm sure it will have a negative affect on Thiem's character when the tennis games resume.

@examplens I always believe also when a nice guy says something really really stupid,,, it is because of his love of his wife. And the same goes for someone who is a girl who says something so outrageous, but usually it is the men who say stupid things because they have an influence from their gf or spouse.
I think people who are privileged will never ever get it. Unless they were born from the ashes, they do not know how it is in the ashes.

I guess sports have no choice if they make it mandatory for their players to take the shot. Here in Australia the AFL is making every players take the test and flu shot before the league reopens to play. It will be interesting times for sports leagues around the world to see what they implement when it comes to this.

I watch the video from start to finish, really hard to imagine the plight of Ines just to pursue her dream of becoming a tennis player. Her story is quite inspiring, and big respect for her for coming out and telling how it is supposed to be told. As far as Thiem goes, I'm sure it is a different story for him, on how he reached the top. I would say that with this videos, Ines paves the way for tennis to really reach out and help those players that are struggling in this situation. I checked Thiem's twitter, no reply from him, and I think we will remain mum about it.

Ok, probably that's Djokovic main concern, as the vaccine might had a side-effect to them as players. I don't think though that scientist are rushing though, no timeline is given, might take like 12-18 months to have a fully working vaccine. Force or not, it is going to be a difficult decision, not just for Djokovic, but everyone who wanted to continue playing without any vaccination. And I think this debate regarding vaccination will continue to go.

As I say in my previous post here Djokovic sometimes is negatively influenced by his wife (who sometimes acts like an idiot, it's my personal opinion). But it seems some of his statement was wrongly interpreted. He is strictly against untested and unproven vaccine against Covid19, he is not against if it is really a solution for this problem. It takes quite a long time for a new vaccine to be fully tested and proven as working.

Anyway time will tell what happens but lets just hope its a good outcome for us all and we get to see some tennis played from the top ranked players sometime this year.

the opinion is like an ass, everyone has it. Kyrgios in the absence of tennis results and quality, trying to compensate with provocations. sometimes it is completely degusting. Obviously, he is a big talent, but I think because of other things he will never do anything significant. Especially not in the Novak-Rafa-Rodger era.

We all know how jack-ass Nick is, so I wouldn't be surprised if he can't really keep his mouth shut even in this pandemic, Lol. I'm sure he had provoked Djokovic by talking trash, but he is still the number 1 tennis player, so Nick's opinion's doesn't matter though. He can talk smack all day, but at the end, his performance in the court tells us about his personality.
