Is there any possibility of having LTC support added to the Mytrezor web wallet?
Answered up thread.  Basically you need to talk to the LTC developers.

Has anyone brought this up to them already?   I can try and do so if no one has brought it up to them...

Actually, I just looked into this over at the litecointalk forums, and there is talk of supporting Trezor in the next stable release of Electrum LTC

If we were going to  actually be using Trezor for LTC, would we need two separate Trezors, one for BTC and one for LTC?   Or can we use the same one for both?

You can use the same, because BIP32 paths would differ. BIP44 specifies these paths like this:
m / purpose' / coin_type' / account' / change / address_index
Registered coin types: http://doc.satoshilabs.com/slips/slip-0044.html

First LTC address would have path: m / 44' / 2' / 0' / 0 / 0 compared to BTC path: m / 44' / 0' / 0' / 0 / 0 and maybe in the future you may have Doge: m / 44' / doge_constant' / 0' / 0 / 0 or others Smiley

The web wallet uses bits of proof. It's a whole new implementation of bitcoin and would require quite a bit of modification.

When handling or applying any pressure at all on the Trezor's case, I hear lots of creaking/sticky plastic noises.  I tried this on someone else's Trezor and did not notice this. Is this normal?

My plastic (white) model seems very sturdy.

I have noticed nothing like this myself.

Just got my Trezor.  Followed all instructions - set a PIN, wrote down the recovery seed words.

BUT when I go to unplug the Trezor, the computer continues to "remember" me.  And more troubling, when I plug the Trezor back in, it does NOT ask for the PIN on the Trezor!!  This is a fundamental problem here.

Anyone else have this?  Please advise.

PIN should be requested once you actually do something - like signing a transaction. Watch-only is possible without PIN, but I think there is even a "forget me" somewhere.

That's normal behavior. You can't send bitcoin without it plugged in(it will ask for PIN again before signing).

Just click "forget" if you don't want to stay logged in. I like it because I can use it as a watch-only wallet.

TREZOR finally for sale!

TREZOR The Bitcoin Safe is ultimately secure
and easy to use hardware bitcoin wallet.

TREZOR FAQ

Original post:

Hello all!

Today we'd like to announce a project I and stick have been working on for the last couple of weeks. We decided that we want to keep the development open since the beginning.

We are creating a hardware bitcoin wallet, basically a device that is a secure place to store private keys to your bitcoin addresses. Because all transactions are signed in the device itself, the keys never leave the device and thus cannot be stolen by a virus, malicious code or an attacker.

We believe that this project is very improtant for the bitcoin world, because it gives the ability to use the highest possible security measures, which were only available for geeks until now, for all bitcoin users, even the non-technical savvy ones.

There will be two versions of the wallet available:
1) A shield for Raspberry Pi (for DIY hackers)
2) Custom hardware based solution (for common consumers)

Both versions will be open-source (both hardware and software!) and will provide the same functionality, like for example:

* Deterministic BIP 0032 compatible wallet algorithm (=unlimited count of addresses)
* No need for periodic backups, writing down the seed to paper during the device initialization will be enough forever
* Unlimited count of inputs and outputs in transaction (transaction streaming API)
* Plug & Play - no driver installation on a desktop computer required
* Unauthorized physical access to wallet protected by PIN
* Optionally wallet will require one-time-passwords for important actions

Custom hardware version will have these extra features:

* Impossibility to obtain private keys from the device in a case of theft
* Impossibility to re-flash the device with malicious code
* Possibility to do paper-backup of private keys only once during wallet initialization
* iPod Shuffle sized aluminium case for durability and robustness
* Variety of colors to tell the wallets apart by simply looking at them

We believe that we have enough knowledge and experience to succesfully finalize this product. Stick is a hacker and he has been involved in development for quite some time. He's also one of the founders of Brmlab hackerspace, which you may know from Prague Bitcoin conference 2011. We've already done arrangements with a hardware manufacturer who has confirmed that he's able to deliver casings for our custom solution.

Sneak peek preview of our hardware:

this is awesome! It looks pretty real, that is the thing i am looking for!

I leave mine as a watch only wallet too. It will always ask for a pin when trying to send out coins

That is on purpose.
You can either stay in the "watch only" mode (see incoming transactions, create receive addresses) by simply unplugging Trezor.
This is good for a daily use on your own computer and/or if you don't mind that for example you wife could see your BTC balance Wink

For better privacy, click Forget device.

In both cases, your btc are safe.

Was really happy to have my Trezor arrive yesterday, sadly I've not been able to get it to work.

I've installed the browser plugin, plugged it into a USB port and get the positive confirmation noise. I then go to MyTrezor.com and it says:

"Device could not be opened. Make sure you don't have myTREZOR running in another tab or browser window!".

I have tried Chrome, Firefox and IE and also reinstalling the browser plugin. I've temporarily disabled any malware/anti virus that could be interfering. Nothing has helped. I'm on Windows 7.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Support say they have had other people with the same issue and are looking into it.

This problem is known, and as far as I know it is specific to Win 7 only, contact the Trezor support please

Isn't this the USB cable problem again? Can you try different USB cable?

Are you using Win7? If so do you have access to another computer that is not Win7 (friend, family, neighbor, school, work, etc.)?  Try that if possible until they get it fixed.

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!
