A nice review on http://www.forbes.com/sites/ericxlmu/2014/10/15/meet-trezor-a-bitcoin-safe-that-can-fit-into-your-pocket/

Trezor reminds me of my first MP3 player bought over a decade ago.

I had the same thoughts.Just we need P2P iTunes (iBitcoin)app for money and other apps and services.

Supporting people with beautiful creative ideas. Bitcoin is because of the developers, exchanges, merchants, miners, investors, users, machines and blockchain technologies work together.

Yes, now it is OK.

But if you have to restart the server often, that might be an indicative that something weird is in the software.

It is a known bug and they are working on it. Just a few pages back in this thread...

Is the back end down again?   Mine is just continuously just trying to pull of the transaction history again Sad

This is a bummer that this is starting to happen more and more often.   I was definitely telling everyone how great the trezor is.   I still think it is, but reliability is definitely going to become a factor...

It works for me. It is a known bug and they are working on it. Just a few pages back in this thread...

It will become a non-issue as soon as more wallets integrate it in to their software. Not much the Trezor team can do about that.

I'm confused. If the problem is corrected every time the back end is restarted, then how it's there not much that the Trezor guys can do about it? Isn't that something that they would work on preventing

Because the back end is outsourced?

Anyway this is giving them a bad image, because it is the only official interface available now (Electrum is in beta).

I don't know if they're all running on the same machine / virtual machine, but on the occasions mytrezor.com has been malfunctioning - balances not showing - test.mytrezor.com has worked fine.

Given that satoshilabs also operate dev.mytrezor.com, perhaps one of the testnet servers could be converted to a backup mainnet server.

It may be that the BoP backend has unresolved issues when running on mainnet that do not occur on testnet.

Edit : This is the 4th time i have seen myTrezor.com BoP back end crash. On the first occasion test.mytrezor.com was also broken, and if I recall correctly it remained broken for over 1 week after myTrezor.com came back.

This is a great idea. Second server should fix the problem for most users because they could try the other one in case of first failing.

They should also have an automated service that detects the ptoblem and restarts the server. Or it could send SMS to stick.
Or maybe, if server always works for couple of days, they may have automated daily restarts.

Any eta on when BoP is going to be fixed?

Exactly. Mainnet has much more activity than testnet and thus the backend chokes much more often there.

Does that mean that this problem will become more frequent with the more and more people purchasing and using trezors?

Frankly we should be switching to other services ASAP, if nothing else for the added security of splitting the hardware/frontend providers.

I wouldn't recommend people stay on myTrezor long-term, and I'm sure SatoshiLabs would be happy to drop support once it's not needed.

A web wallet is always convenient, so you can spend money in any computer without having to install a desktop program.

I have not received a bug report from TREZOR that would imply a downtime of the magnitude claimed in this thread, therefore would be fair if it was not represented as a BoP issue.

I have no information whether Satoshilabs filed such a bug report or not. To be fair, the issue might still be in mytrezor not using the backend correctly. Satoshilabs may have some more info and it would be nice to get this fixed instead of just restarting backends.
