The MOIN wallet is now out of maintenance on C-cex exchange however I'm still having the same issues withdrawing my MOIN coins. I thought it would of been fixed since the wallet went into maintenance but it's not  Sad

Agreed same problem still.  I sent in another support ticket.

I just don't understand why it is only happening with C-cex exchange as it's not happening on Cryptopia so surely it is to do with C-cex exchange. It's frustrating and annoying as it happens all the time even now with 50 coins when before it was working okay with that amount. We really need MOIN to get listed on Bittrex and Poloniex sooner rather then later.

yeah i wish they would take the time to actually look at the issue.  The response to the latest ticket was once again copy and paste saying that it must be a problem with the wallet.  I don't think they are accepting that this is fixable.  I mean it did used to work until fairly recently.  Their unwillingness to really address this is quite frustrating I agree.

I agree and if this keeps up I'll have to start using Cryptopia to get my MOIN coins. If it was the wallet like C-cex is saying then why is everything working fine with Cryptopia and I bet Livecoin also works just fine. Again I just tried withdrawing from C-cex and this time I tried 25 coins and again same thing but this time the site went offline while it was sending so I think it actually is C-cex now as the site went offline while sending so how can that be the wallets fault?

Dev have you heard anything from C-cex as to why this is still happening?

I was just excited about superblocks before, but I just realized that this coin is in fact trying to use cryptonote. That's very cool. This was very hard to see in the announcement. People either are or will be desperate for anonymity.

You're right, we have a system that uses a secondary currency called MOINX which like CryptoNote uses ring signatures and dual-key stealth addresses to create untraceable, unlinkable transactions.  [White paper] We never pushed it or the privacy angle very hard out of courtesy to SDC. It was their innovation and despite them not getting it quite right the first time, it's one I think they deserve more credit for. Later I held off on mentioning it until we'd implemented the fix.

Quote
I'm curious what the stances of coin will be in future:

1. will transactions be hidden by default to hide known actors, something often considered a necessity.

There are various levels of privacy available to users:
  • (low privacy) Standard transactions on the main chain
  • (moderate privacy) Transactions using (single-use) stealth addresses on the main chain, making them unlinkable
  • (strong privacy) MOINX to MOINX transactions

There are some caveats though. The MOINX system is currently unused. I'm not sure if that's because we chose not to promote it heavily or because it's something people don't really have a use for, but if we were to start using it it would take some time before it could function effectively as each conversion from MOIN to MOINX creates more outputs that can potentially be used in MOINX transactions. I believe given the direction we'll be taking the project that the option to transact privately is something that users will come to appreciate.
Also, it's worth noting that having to convert from MOINX back to MOIN means compromising your privacy to an extent. This could be mitigated if we were to make MOINX the focus of the ecosystem, making it the currency of any services we build for example. We could even ask that exchanges switch to MOINX and leave MOIN purely for staking.

Quote
2. will amount transmitted be hidden like with RingCT on Monero?

When Monero does finish RingCT there's probably no reason why it couldn't be integrated.

Quote
3. will the use of Moin be hidden from ISP like with i2p

If someone wanted to hide it from their ISP there are already options such as using a VPN or running MOIN over the TOR network. (Settings>Options)

I believe SDC was working on native I2P support at one point, but I'm not sure if that's still planned. Again though, as the anonymous transaction function hasn't sparked a lot of interest so far we haven't given much thought to introducing other privacy-related features for which there might not be any demand.

Quote
4. will there be instant send feature? I'm not sure if this requires a multi-tier system of stakers. Vcash has a nice benefit of being quite secure with a single transaction.

No plans for this at present.

Quote
5. how will it address nothing at stake issue? Ethereum's casper implementation comes to mind.

We've landed on PoS v3 for now but I appreciate it's not perfect (and doesn't address nothing at stake). As you point out, the Eth team seem to be doing to most promising work in this area at the moment. It's something we plan to reevaluate and we'll be monitoring alternatives in the mean time. Perhaps in the end we'll just go back to trusty old proof of work.  Wink

Quote
6. how will scalability be achieved to VISA levels? projects like vcash, bitshares, nxt 2 stand out with some solutions to this, and I guess there's always the centralized lightning network type of solution.

This isn't a pressing concern. If we get to a stage where we're even remotely close to processing that many transactions we'll start giving thought to solutions.

I'll come back to that final question next time I'm on. Thanks a lot for the thought-provoking questions.

-snip-

Dev have you heard anything from C-cex as to why this is still happening?

I sent them a message a week ago to which I haven't had a response. I sent another today asking for details and offering to help with any problems they might have. I'll let you know when I hear from them.

Till the issue's resolved I advise everyone else to use one of the other exchanges listed in the OP.

Okay dev thanks for the reply.

I guess I'll start using Cryptopia for now until C-cex fixes the issue. I just hope they don't delist MOIN because of low volume as most of us will start trading on the other exchanges.

My pleasure Smiley  I really enjoy running the raffle.

FYI Moin Movement has so far received 16100 MOIN for the ongoing raffle.  Good luck to all the entrants.

I am starting to think about what to do for the next MOIN raffle or event.  Gotta make it something good  Cool

I read that 1337 was also having problems with withdrawing coins from C-cex. So I guess it is them that are causing the issues as they were saying it was the wallets. What they are doing isn't right as I want my coins to stake myself but every time I try and witdraw my coins they fail to send  Angry and I loose a days staking because of it. Even withdrawing 20 coins now gets stuck and fails to send. As I said I'm going to use Cryptopia but the problem is that I still have MOIN coins on C-cex which I want to withdraw.

It is really easy to see they are staking coins, you can load up a c-cex address in the explorer and see the staking occurring.  Although this is probably something not everyone is aware of I think it is a separate issue from the failure to withdraw.  I am going to continue putting in support tickets asking them to take a serious look at this.  Are there any other ways to contact them?

You are right as I just did a check on the explorer and can see that they are actually staking MOIN coins. It most likely is a separate issue but it seems strange that 1337 and CUBE are having the same issues and they are also POS coins. The only other way of contacting them is on this forum as I have done a couple of times.

I think that was the right thing to do as we don't want new investors coming here and buying MOIN on C-cex exchange and have problems withdrawing there coins. So until C-cex get this issue sorted, I think it's for the best.

Have they given you any update at all dev on why it is only happening on there exchange and not on any of the other exchanges?

On the 27th of July Moin Movement Foundation address received several transactions in the amount of 500 MOIN.  They did not however include the note "HD Raffle" so they are not currently considered entries into the contest.  If you sent them and accidentally left out the narration let me know through here that you intended them for the raffle.    You will prove your address and then I will send the coins back to you so they can be sent with the proper narration to enter the raffle.  If I don't hear from anyone they will be considered donations to the fund.

the transactions in question are:

Well it looks like C-cex exchange is going to delist MOIN as the volume for last month didn't get to 6 BTC. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for MOIN. With the recent issues it might be a good thing but then again it's good to have MOIN on as many exchanges as possible as it gives investors more opinions. So I'm not sure what to think  Huh
