Updates on the new forum:

http://forum.qora.tech

crowetic administrators:

Hello everyone, just wanted to come in with a new thread to post status updates on the db fix and update that is currently in progress on QORA.

As of now, the dev has fixed the issues with the current DB, I'm thinking that it might be a good time to do a release, and get those fixes pushed.

Going to talk to the other devs and find out if my idea there is a good one. Then, if they agree, we will push an update.

Once that is complete, it will give the dev time to work on the update process, which may take some time. I've also gotten a few other developers in with him to help see the thing through to completion.

Thank you for your patience!

INSTRUCTIONS

To use the Quoth chat prototype...

Make up a long password, this is essentially a brain wallet for QORA

Once you've logged in, you'll see bottom left corner a place with QORA addresses in a drop-down menu

Click one of the addresses and it will come up below the menu

    Click/drag/select and select the address

fund the address with some QORA coins (right now each message costs 1 coin and is donated to development. This will be modified in the future.

    Start chatting after 1 confirmation!

    ENJOY

post any issues you find in this thread. Thanks!

I read that clickbait article yesterday and found it boring and inconclusive. Seriously, u should find other sources of inspiration for urself, if u wish to keep on hyping a junky coin with neither utility nor substantial hashrate behind it.

Thank you for your slightly annoying opinion without any basis behind it.

Do you even realize that QORA isn't mined? (yet...)

I'm not sure what you're upset about (potentially that you have a project of something similar and haven't been able to get it to work? not sure...) but I hope your day gets better. Smiley

He is not completely wrong there I think. In this alt cycle, Qora barely got much movement. Not much attention. Polo wallet is still disabled

When? Please give an estimate of time

Once that is complete, it will give the dev time to work on the update process, which may take some time. I've also gotten a few other developers in with him to help see the thing through to completion.

Thank you for your patience!

What do you want?  Hourly progress reports?  A significant proportion of the posts complaining about uncertainty in this thread are yours.  Many of us are quite happy with the rate of development and understand that the devs have other commitments to their time.  If you want the work done any faster, find a way to help.  Complaining all the time isn't going to get it done any quicker.  I bought my first Qora in 2014 and it hasn't disappointed me yet.  Patience definitely pays off with this coin.

What do you want?

I want the coin to improve. Asking for exactly what you quoted. Polo wallet is still disabled and there's a risk of this getting the axe in next delisting cycle. We either get improvement asap or this coin loses Poloniex. This is my way of contributing (other than my financial investment as a contribution) I believe a significant number of Qora holders are not satisfied with the speed of progress.

We either get improvement asap or this coin loses Poloniex. This is my way of contributing (other than my financial investment as a contribution) I believe a significant number of Qora holders are not satisfied with the speed of progress.

I've messaged polo two times, and given them step by step instructions and how to setup my jar file that I've had running on my debian server (same linux they use for theirs) for months without a single issue. I'm not sure why they are still in maintenance, but I'll be submitting another message to them shortly to get answers...

As far as the development... Doom is correct, it does take time... however... here is where we are right now...

The dev that I have asked to help with the db has fixed all the errors that I gave him in the logs that I had, though, when he went to attempt the upgrade of the db software itself, he found that it is a much more involved process than he had thought, which is what I was slightly worried about.

He doesn't work with java all the time, so there will need to be a few others brought in to assist with this...

However, I have a few other ideas as well, which would involve a pretty drastic change to QORA, and I'm going to be bringing this up to the developers to get their opinions...

What I'm thinking for now, is that we push the fixes that he made to the current db software version, and push out a new release, along with the web wallet, which is nearing completion and there are only a few things that need to be added, the web wallet will be pushed as an addon application, and will be offered for download along with the main core wallet files. I'm going to really push to get these two things done this upcoming week, with hopes that a new version release will help poloniex, even though I really think that they just haven't really put in much effort in resolving the problem, as like I said, I've had a debian server running for months without a single issue, I have no idea what they are doing...

So, I'm hoping we can get a new QORA version out within the next week or so, then I can have a comm with the devs, and either pull a small team together to work on the actual upgrade of the db, and/or work out the other idea that I have with regards to this, if they're interested in moving this direction. I personally think it would be MASSIVE for QORA, and that it is the most viable and best option, would also give QORA an extremely solid foundation, and open it up to MANY new features at the same time. Though it would definitely require some work, it would also be able to be done much quicker due to the amazing setup that is able to be used if moving towards this idea...

I can't get into any more specifics about this at the moment, but I will once I have gone over these options with the core people and figure out if they're in agreement.

As far as the algo goes... and the switch therein... I've gotten the approval from the devs with my suggestion of moving to BURST algo, I'm going to bring this up to the BURST devs, and also BURST community to see if this is something they would support as well. If so, I really think it would bring a MASSIVE network to QORA, and many more people. I think it is the easiest way to bring a HUGE network and community to QORA. I don't think it should be much work to do this.

I DO think though, that increasing the cap is something I would suggest for this type of switch, as if we do this without any real reward for the new miners, I don't think too many of them would be interested in the double use of their drives, without reward. So what @cryptonick mentioned a few pages back, about the cap of QORA never changing, I think is a bit misinformed, as I do think that increasing the cap would be something that would be necessary if we were to switch to a PoC algo.

The idea, is to merge-mine with BURST, giving miners two coins to mine simultaneously on their existing BURST plot files. This would mean that no miner would have to do anything aside from run another miner, pointed to a QORA pool, and start mining both coins at the same time.

Now, this would also open up a debate about the cap increase, and the new distribution of the increase cap coins... but I think that if it is done gradually, and planned out just right, it should not negatively affect the price of the coin whatsoever, and actually, I'm pretty sure the massive influx of people seeing what QORA is capable of, and the increase of the network to something extremely strong and stable, would be something that would actually INCREASE the price of QORA if anything.

There is obviously a bit of deciding to be done here, and I'm always up to people's input, so fire away!

I really think that the merge-mine idea is a way to totally rescue QORA in a very quick fashion, increasing the network and community by 500x basically overnight (or as soon as the BURST miners realize they can now mine two coins on the same plots, as I don't see many of them NOT taking this opportunity, especially once they realize all of the capability that QORA contains.)

Also, I've had something interesting put together for QORA, which will provide a platform that makes use of many open source tools, chats, etc, which I think would also help grow the QORA community. I'll be doing some finalization of these things in the next week or so, and then I'll provide this for everyone in QORA to make use of. This is a centralized service that I'm offering, but it will be something to give people an idea of what will be possible in the near future in a decentralized way, thanks to the capability in the platforms that I'm working with now, BURST, QORA, and another that I'm not going to mention for now, but people will begin to see it come into play here very soon. I'm VERY excited about everything that is going on right now, and I can see nothing but a solid future for all of the projects that I'm working on right now, and I'm very lucky and stoked to be in the position that I'm in, as I really think that the people I have around me, and the things that I'm working with, and on, are going to be a BIG part of the future of the internet, helping to decentralize not only our finances, but EVERYTHING, providing a totally SECURE, PRIVATE, and AWESOME way to do your daily dealings online.

We are bringing privacy back to the internet, we are bringing security back to the internet, and we are destroying the centralization of the internet. We welcome you to come with us on this journey.

There's a lot of uncertainity out there.

TAT/roadmap for db fix and mining algorithm change please.

To talk about the change of the QORA algo. My personal suggestion is BURST merge-mine, let's have YOUR opinion!

Changing to PoW will definitely help support the network, but the inflation will not be popular with many people.

Could you consider something similar to what NXT is doing with their 5M node bounty and lottery system? Relies on donations being sufficient, but avoiding  PoW inflation might motivate people to donate.

FYI, newcomers!
Did you know you can mine NXT (and buy Ardor with it on the Nxt Asset Exchange!) in the Lucky node project?
Computational and bandwidth requirements are very low - some users run it on a Raspberry Pi.
Run the node 24/7 or as often as you can while you work or play.
Join in with the over 100 nodes that are already in the project.

10 million is hardly much. Considering the total Qora in circulation right now, it is just 0.001% inflation per month, and goes down even more each month.

Sounds like Increasing the Coin Cap is unavoidable. The current 10B total coin rely on transaction fees to sustain the chain by forging. Services on the chain that would charge fees and grant to miners are not fully developed so it is a Paradox.

I think the Burst community should consider merge mining for free. If the miners are interested in QORA they will mine it and buy it. Then possibly have a Burst to QORA market on the exchange. This would be the Most Ideal scenario.

Here is an idea... Think about one of the aspects that makes QORA and Burst so special! Create an ACCT that trades QORA with Burst. Miners can only trade on this ACCT with however many blocks they mine on QORA. So if your QORA wallet has no mined blocks since the PoC starting block number then you can not trade Burst for QORA. Zero tx fees on the ACCT! Technically you didn't mine any QORA but found blocks which opens the bridge to Burst. So miners have the right to redeem X amount of blocks in their QORA wallet and buy QORA with their Burst at their own asking price. They set the price as they mined the blocks and wish to buy QORA with Burst. Any QORA holders would love to own some Burst I would imagine too. It evens out the distribution of both coins.

The market would derive the worth but at that point the 10B stay intact while the development to rolls out. The Trade would be written to the Blockchain and your wallet would negate X amount of Blocks from its total trading capacity. Or maybe you always have that ability to trade X amount of Blocks for 2200 QORA per block or whatever the set amount is, maybe less works good 10 to 1 block or 100 to 1 block. This would grow the Trade exponentially but might reduce the ACCT market price.

But I think make it fast and fun to support. You can always sit there on Burst while the Diff is at 20K and get QORA odds while you wait. This is just another way to make profit with your drives so why not?

The QORA Pools would have a hard time giving shares but it is random so winner takes all? Or just Solo mine only? It is really about supporting QORA and waiting for development without ruining investors positions or volume they deserve. By only allowing trade in Burst it makes it a win win. People may pick up QORA cheaper on the ACCT too. This might affect the Burst market on selling too since it is supporting the BTC volume of QORA holders selling to get Burst. But at that point the market decides.

It seems like crowetic sent 3 emails to Poloniex already with the fix for the wallet. I would suggest you to just send a support request to the exchange and point them to this thread, asking them if they can fix their QORA wallet.

Poloniex likes to inspect any coin's code that it lists. They might not want to use the new fixed wallet until its code is put on github. Poloniex might quickly fix its wallet after crowetic puts the code on github then sends poloniex another email.
