Well, the new FIA president has been elected, and first impressions are he is probably likely to make the FIA worse than it was already, which would be quite an achievement. Apparently he is considering fining Hamilton because he didn't attend the end of season prize ceremony. You'd think, given the circumstances, he might have overlooked the infraction... but no, "rules are rules" except when they aren't. "First of all, as a driver, I feel emotional but at the end of the day rules are rules, so we are going to look into the side where the technical rules are there to be employed,” he said. "Was he in breach? I have to look into it."
https://www.motorsportweek.com/2021/12/17/new-fia-president-says-no-forgiveness-if-hamilton-breached-rules/If I were in Hamilton's place, I'd be tempted to respond with something like: "The rules say I have to attend, but I didn't want to attend, so I thought I could just ignore the rules and make up new ones for this one specific situation, in order to achieve a different outcome".

Just something I’ve been thinking of asking everybody after the end of the season. Have you guys made some money betting on F1? I admit, I lost money betting on this market. Nothing much as I just bet small. But I’ve been wondering how you guys did. I think the F1 betting market is def hard to beat... If not the hardest. But maybe that’s just me amd you guys actually made money. Lol. Yes, I made a bit betting on Verstappen to be champion. I put a bet down very early on, when it became clear in pre-season testing that Mercedes had some serious problems with the new rules. Other than that I've made a bit and lost a bit on various races through the season. One thing I do quite well on is whether or not there will be a safety car during the race... you can often get a decent feel for this during the practice sessions. And one thing I never ever bet on is who will get fastest lap... it's rarely the fastest driver, and is often some tactical thing based on how the race has played out and who sits where with what time gap to be able to afford another pit stop for fresh softs. Thanks for the tip. The practice sessions do show if there are multiple collisions or not. Smart. And you’re right about the fastest lap but I did make some money betting on those towards the end of the season. I guess sometimes you get a knack for it as you already know what’s going on and the psychological state of the drivers in contention going into the race. And the outrights are out for 2022 season. https://stake.com/sports/outright/formula-1/formula-1/formula-1-2022/42369455-formula-1-2022Hamilton is the favorite to the driver’s championship at 2.00 followed by Verstappen at 3.20 and Russell at 6.20. Merc still leads the constructor’s championship at 1.45... I’m not too sure about Merc’s dominance under the new specs.

I'm not prepared to go anywhere near the 2022 season yet, we just have no idea which car is going to be best. If you were going to guess one team that might do better than the others, then yes, Mercedes is the one to pick... but still, it's a guess. As for drivers, it seems impossible that Russell would win it, given he will be in the same car as Hamilton, who is considerably better. Same goes for Red Bull, there is not a chance that Perez will be WDC when he's in the same car as Verstappen. The only thing I'd be willing to bet on for the moment for the 2022 season is which will be the best driver within a team.

Well, personally, I can't wait for the F1 22 season to begin as those cars will bring the A+ game into F1 with so many overtakes being available now but in the end it's up to cars to deliver powerful engines to bring the competition even closer, because if this won't happen , Mercedes will dominate again and I do hope they will as RedBull deserves nothing but dust.

Lol, I doubt that Lewis would do something like that, he is a kind person and will probably just take whatever punishment they would give and move on, not like they could give something regarding grid position or whatever anymore, the season is over and punishing him for the start of next season regarding anything of the race would be horrible look for FIA anyway. It will probably be like some money punishment at the very worst, after all this Gala is done to make some profit for FIA, and Lewis not being there usually could cost them some money but they both had the latest champion there AND they had this situation with Lewis so it probably made them a lot more money this way so who cares?

It was a virtue that Hamilton and Mercedes didn't go to international courts to file suit. Therefore, I think that tolerating something would be better for both sides.

According to rumors, Jean Todt can join Ferrari again.
I don't know if it will be a good move, for sure Ferrari will gain "political" power but about the team, I don't know if it will an improvement.
He is quite old now but hey, I am no one.

Obviously the FIA would have rejected the Mercedes case. Presumably then they'd have had to make a civil case to try to seek redress in the French legal system. I'm sure Wolff would have wanted to pursue this in the courts as far as he could, and probably Hamilton likewise. But Wolff only owns 1/3 of the F1 team. For Mercedes/Daimler I'm sure it's more about brand management and publicity, and the reward of a drivers' title was not worth the negative publicity (and looking like bad losers) that would have come out of dragging it through the legal system. It doesn't really matter to them that they had a rock-solid case, and that Hamilton would likely have been found legally to be the championship winner, the cost of getting to that result was not worth it.

Jean Todt did win with M.Schumacher quite a lot of Championships but at that time Ferrari was the better car just like Mercedes is in our days. They were lucky as there were no competitors,McLaren the second best car had a lot of reliability problems so they could not put up a fight. So I think no improvement in term of performance will happen here as Jean Todt has not dealt with managing a team from a couple of years now.The political power will not do any good as long as you don't have a track performance so I don't understand this move either.

I don't want to go with your opinion for 2022 I hope that we see a better mix of winning drivers and teams coming together with the new cars. Surely this will be a little bit to much but only watching Mercedes vs red-bull again competitting the next season makes me a little tired

How does everyone rate this ? is it the same as rated by: crashnet_motogp/
Not the same thing. Rossi won with Honda the year before and the people of Max Biaggi were saying "he win only because Honda is better". The following year Max Biaggi and Rossi swapped the moto and Rossi won again with Yamaha while Biaggi lost with the Honda. I think this is the only time when Rossi cried in a track. However, Quartararo won but the stronger opponent was missing. Rossi is and was for me an exceptional rider, but the Yamaha was not really competitive in the last years, so you have to say respect to Fabio, that he wins the world championship with this bike is not easy. Bagnaia and Ducati have become stronger and stronger over the year, and for me they are the favourites next year. I think it will be very hard to beat Ducati and Bagnaia next year.

The F1 2022 season can be one of the most waited seasons in F1 history without doubt. Because we are going to watch the drivers with brand new cars. The turbo hybrid era was dominated by Hamilton and Mercedes really a lot. And this time, we don't know which team will be the best in the next season. Maybe Mercedes and Red Bull will still continue to be top constructors. But we could see a new team or teams joining them. I would really like to see Ferrari coming back to their old days especially. They have very talented drivers also now and they deserve to be one of the top teams with powerful cars.

According to some rumors/speculations Bottas can go back in Mercedes in the case of Hamilton will choose to retire himself from the F1 after what happened the last week.
If will happen I think he will be the second driver of the time with Russell captain.

Hamilton has been in the sport a long time and was probably good to go after this season. However he has been a lot more "political" lately and it does give him a good podium to spread any sort of message like that, whether he's doing that just because he's gotten older or because he does not fear any consequences is another question. He might want to go another season in order to try and walk away from F1 with the record setting 8 championship wins, it would also act as a bit of revenge against Verstappen and break up any potential winning streak that he might want to setup into the future. Hamilton clearly got unlucky with timings and a lack of tire changes, because he was able to pull away into the lead twice.

Could be but he signed a 2 years contract last year so his intention was to continue. Keep in mind his salary, if he will retire he will give up to 30 million € and it is a huge amount of money.

Hopefully you are right. I want to see Hamilton vs Russel racing next year with Mercedes. Could become interesting if Russel can take the lead after the first grand prix races with the same material.

I think I read an article stating that getting Russel to Mercedes was a form of a risk on their part. Instead of being a wingman to Hamilton, Russel might actually compete against Hamilton in the next season. I just really hope that it does not become Nico Rosberg part 2 where their friendship got ruined by being too competitive on the scene. I also doubt that Hamilton will retire anytime soon especially that the next season would introduce significant changes to the f1 car. All drives would be able to experience a new type of racing in a new type of car design.

I'm also looking forward to the new season, and hope that Ferrari can finally get back to the top. Since almost the entire year was only developed on the car for 2022, the expectations are high. Mercedes and RedBull will be on a par with each other, at least that's how I personally expect it. We'll know more in a few months, I don't really trust the winter tests.

I've just read that Latifi has been receiving death threats after the Abu Dhabi debacle. This is depressing, and yet utterly inevitable. Do people really think he did it on purpose? If not, then why attack? I can understand them being angry and casting around for someone to blame, and whilst it's totally unacceptable to make death threats to anyone, I don't understand why they're targeting Latifi, and not Masi, who orchestrated the whole thing.

I don't think that will happen, at least certainly not initally. Put Russell and Hamilton in the same car, and Hamilton will win every time. But Russell is still young, and can improve. There's only one person on the grid at the moment who could compete with Hamilton in the same car... Verstappen. But I'd still say Hamilton is ahead on consistency, tyre-management, and big-picture thinking (i.e. back out when needed in order to secure second place, instead of making kamikaze lunges that can result in 0 points). But Lewis and Max are a long way ahead of everyone else. As for best of the rest, who knows? But it would be good to see Alonso in a competitive car again.
