actual number of people using Bitcoin?

Is there a way to determine the number of people who are actually using Bitcoin till date? Who would have access to such information? Meaning a way to find out, how many new people have used Bitcoin in 2016 , so that we can say exponential growth is natural not artificially created by hoarders.

The number would be far less than any bitcoiner would expect. Try to imagine how many drug addicts use BTC and how many drug dealers. I would think that theres not much.

Like what an expert hacker said, we are only accessing 10% of the internet because the rests is in the deep web, so that means illegal transaction are rampant in the dark web and that helps bitcoin to increase its demand.

That's good for all of us BTC holders correct? All we have to do is keep waiting for the price to go up and let the BTC markets work their magic. I can see many people here wanting to make BTC accepted by banks and become a mainstream currency just for that same purpose.

Current price that has been subject to months of growth will surely attract people, but these people are just looking for a short term investment.

Everything is fine as long as the price keeps going up for people, but as soon as the price starts to plummet, people suddenly lose all confidence and turn from a bull into a bear.

What I try to say is that the majority of the people here are as volatile as the price is. One day they see great potential in Bitcoin, while the next day they are deeply disappointed and think Bitcoin has no future.

That's what I think too, some users getting involve in bitcoins are only attracted by the high price but when the time comes that it goes down suddenly they will leave btc with no more reason. Bitcoin is just like of others opportunity that is treated by short term investment only. But in my side this is the only opportunity will run in lifetime.

Yup we should put our attentions on earning or getting better profits in bitcoin rather than keep bothering our selves on how many people are using bitcoin now and then. Well for my own speculation we are 23% of population who are using bitcoin.. and i think we are increasing but we can say that we are fast growing but we are gradually increasing. that is why the price right now are gradually increasing and i think more people will use bitcoin and more demand will come..

The number of people using bitcoin may not be easy to know exactly but we can estimate how many people there are by counting how many active wallets there are on each online wallet, but even then it is not even the actual the number because there are people using bitcoin in offline wallets, but it is a one way to guess the users of bitcoin.

There are quite a few people who have by far more than 1 bitcoin (actually, hundreds and thousands of bitcoins), while your average Joes may not have bought anything at all. In this way, such assumptions are meaningless unless I misunderstood something in what you wanted to say. In respect to the number of users, I don't think there are more than half a million active users around the world at present

yes that is right to say that it is very difficult to know the actual number of bitcoin users, but it is also a fact that the number of bitcoin users are increasing from time to time.

As mentioned users were getting increased time to time, but in reality actual number of bitcoin users cannot be calculated. If you think that 23% of the population use BTC right now then please show us your proof. Until you can show me the hard numbers and statistics your speculation has no bearing and is not backed up by facts.
