I should have phrased my question more simply. Can I use this extension cord with my 1600W EVGA PSU to power my S9. I was concerned that the max amperage rating of 15 for the extension cord would be an issue.

How many volts are you running?

I think he is doing 120 but he did not mention it.

the links I gave him will all work for 120 or 240(with a plug adapter)

you are using it with 120 volts and plugging into the cord that comes with the evga 1600 ?

if so it would work for 240 volts (been there done that)

if will get hot for 120 volts.

Give me 5 minutes please for the correct cord to use.

these are better choices if you are using 120 volts and need 50 feet

http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?limit=40&q=extension+cord

if its 120 he best go with something in 10 gauge  good to about 30 amps.. since he pulling over long distance that should suffice.  Phil do you know where i can order some s7 or s9 controllers(just the pcb i have tons of beagles). I need to have a couple on hand just in case.  I ordered last one from bitmainwarranty and would like to get at least one more]

edit more i think about this tho.. if he only has 20 amp breaker or 15 i think with ext cord it will exceed the breaker..

Thanks for the info all. It's most helpful and yes, I'm on 120v. I have the S9's hooked up using 14 gauge extension cords as a temp solution. Sounds like I should go with a lower gauge. At the same time, will using the 14 gauge cord with these S9's be a fire hazard over time?

short 14 like 10 feet or less may be okay .  but 50 foot runs no go. they are just to close to the max limits to run 24/7/365

Is your circuit breaker 20 amps? What's the gauge of wiring to the outlet? It should ALL be rated for 20 amps, not just the extension cord.

And yes, it's a fire hazard.

If you can get by with something shorter these guys have shorter 14's and 100 foot 12.

http://www.cableleader.com/power/extension-power-cords/5-15p-to-5-15r.html

I think the EVGA 1600 works with these.  I don't have one right here as I post this but I seem to recall (so double check your connecters before you buy it).  These are all 12 AWG but only up to 10 feet.

yep i checked bitmaintech and they arent listed any more.  Ebay wants 3x price which is just ridiculous.  If anyone has a used s7 they would like to sell that has the pcb with the 10 hash board hookups  think its batch one or batch 2 of s7 id consider that aswell.  Will do some more digging this week.  The pcb i got only has 3 connects to hashboard rest they didnt soldier on.  Be nice to have a fail over in case of a dead pcb.  Thanks for the info

Thx for the feedback. I'm referring to the standard 14 gauge extension cords that you'd buy from Home Depot. The 20 amp was referring to the max amperage that is written on the extension cord packaging

To answer this in easy language.

Most houses are wired with 14 gauge.

For my miners -- I use 12 gauge.

The longer the cord -- the more likely it will heat up.

14 should be fine -- but, if it is longer than a short extension cord -- I would personally err to the 12 gauge.

I live in the U.S. and the miners in my home are also powered with the EVGA 1600.

if you guys want better temps get some legs to stand them vertically. i have used them on all my s7's so far and they do work on the s9's too. i have some for sale and i print new ones all the time so pm me if you want to buy a set or more. i have sets with the extended screws and sets without the screws. you will need longer screws to hold the legs in place because the stock ones aren't long enough but if you rather supply your own screws that's fine too.

I also have duct kits that allow you to attach dryer ducts from places like home depot or lowes to help vent hot air away from your miners. i use ducts and legs on all of my miners and it helped reduce temps in the rooms my miners run in big time and the legs by themselves help cool off the chips. I saw a temp reduction of about 10 degrees on my s7's when putting them vertical vs leaving them flat. lower temps mean slower fan speeds which means less noise for the home miner.

I think making the legs taller, might further help improve ventilation. A short, portable fan placed close to the legs will also ease things up a bit.

Ahh they moved it.  I had found that parts list before but looked for it again recently and couldn't find it.  Now you have to go to where you indicated, log in, and then click the "buy parts" menu item.  Which goes here:
https://shop.bitmain.com/product.htm?parts=parts
