It's been a while since I first heard about Bitcoins.  I had to look up a chart from this Wired Article to figure out when that was.  It looks like I first heard about them around July 2011.

I was on PokerProsNetwork back when it was on the Cake Netowrk (site went to crap lately, different story).  They had a chat room and this guy ThundeToe was telling me about how he was buying up some high end video card to mine bitcoins.  I can't remember how we got started talking about it.  Probably he was bragging to me about it and I naturally was curious.  I remember him talking about $20 and $30 bitcoins so that puts the date around July 2011.

Anyways, somehow I learned about SealsWithClubs.org (now it's .eu), maybe from thundetoe, maybe through a google search, and I figured, what the hell, this could blow up big.  So I was playing their winner take all freerolls every hour.  I would stay up late when there were like 6 people playing so I could win 0.05 BTC.  Then I used those profits to play the half hourly which had 0.1B or maybe it was .05B Added, I can't remember now.  It wasn't long until I had a bitcoin, then 10, then when I got to 50, I was pretty pleased, that being a block reward.  I used to say, "I have Fifty Nifty Bitcoins".

I got up to about 96B, I don't think I've hit the 100 mark yet, but SWC is a great place to win bitcoins.  I looked into mining and of course I was put off by the capital outlays.  I'm interested in trying to buy bitcoin bonds, I want to put some of these BTC to work for me.  I was gonna buy a $100 Kroger Gift Card with my BTC but I changed my mind.  I really want to reinvest these things somehow.  But as far as the bonds go, it looks like a first come first serve thing, and I've missed the boat so far.  As they expand their mining operations, I hope to be able to buy some.

Hello all, pwnorbownd here, BTC Miner startign his long journey to easy BTC with a 6850 to eventually snag a 7970 for my current gaming rig and the build a x3 or x4 6770 rig for BTC mining only. Hopefully going to get to know alot of people on this forum as I eventually start to trade my BTC finds in the next few years.

I started about 6 days ago when I saw a newegg review about the Mhash of a 7970 I have my eye on. Ever since then I've been hooked and running my GPU @ 890 Core 300 Mem for a whopping 227 mhash/s. (I know, sad right.  Tongue)

Finally found a forum for hardware nerds like me  Grin

Crazyates here. I got a small Trifire mining rig. Started with a 5830, then added a 5850, and finally added a 5870, all on a 990FXA-UD5 in an Antec 300. My biggest issue is the 5850 in the middle has the worst cooling, so it gets throttled by CGMiner. Having a fan blowing right on the cards helps a lot, but I recently lowered the voltages. Lower volts = less power = less heat = less throttling = more MH/s! Yay me!

Saving up my BTC for a 2nd gen bulldozer. This is a Trifire rig, so I do play games as well Wink

Hello,

I've been using bitcoin for over a year but created an account just recently.
I'm looking to trade virtual items and cd-keys for computer games using bitcoins.
I've done so successfully using pages such as ogrr.com but want to broaden the audience Smiley

Thanks,
cst

Hi All.

I've been lurking the forums for some time and finally decided to post something useless :p
I find the idea of bitcoin fascinating. And thanks to that for the first time in my life I'm actually learning about money, economy, stock market (already buying on glbse :p) and related stuff ;)

Also: NO, I'M THE BATMAN :P
