Wow, so exchanges are the lucky ones!  Grin
Even if they distribute Byteballs to customers (which actually is up to them), they will receive Blackbytes for themselves !!

Alternatively, if community could force exchanges to distribute Blackbytes too, it could immediately turn to a plus - the Blackbytes will automatically appear on exchanges Smiley

This does't look to be well thought out. But hey, we'll see. It seems to me the brilliant tech implemented in this coin may compensate for all drawbacks of those distribution schemes, so BB could survive even with such strange distribution approaches.

It is really the individual's choice, if you want, you can always transfer the byteballs to your own wallet before the distribution (or snapshot), so you have full control and don't depend on the exchange.

Can you explain how ByteBall is fundamentally different from IOTA?

AFAIK
- no POW, Byteball uses fees to prevent spam
- no ICO, Byteball coins are given out for free in several airdrops
- Byteball has full and light wallets with easy gui for Linux, OSX, Windows, Android, iOS
- Byteball uses chat bots to communicate with the user
- Byteball is based on javascript, IOTA on java
- Byteball is already traded on an exchange (cryptox.pl) and listed on coinmarketcap.com

http://www.tangleblog.com/2017/01/03/byteball-vs-iota-token/

not so bad
For me there are two more (non tech) decisive differences:
IOTA wants to conquer or create a market that does not yet exist (maybe in 10 years).
Byteball focuses on existing markets and existing business models (trys designs them more efficiently). This makes Byteball compatible with the status quo.
IOTA stands (like Ethereum) for technological revolution. Byteball stands (in my opinion) for evolution.
The problem with revolutions is that they are completely uncontrolled. The initiators are in the end (historically) usually not the victors. Smiley

Because Tony has done such an excellent job, it is much easier for Byteball to jump over the "The Chasm". (excurse: google -> “technology adoption lifecycle“ or for example: http://andrewoons.com/post/93339555434/how-to-get-bitcoin-from-the-early-adopters-to-the )

I do not know this guy. I only used his side to illustrate "The Chasm". But then I saw the sentence at the end.
„Like I said before: if there were services or products that are built with bitcoin, that give people a real reason to use it, the adoption of bitcoin as a currency will go much faster.“

This is what "byteball" offers..

To to disparage Byteball, but you totally ignore the partnerships and real world innovations already made and being built along side Iota. You suggestion that Iota is for a market 10 years from now is not really supported by any data I've seen.

Looked at Coinmarketcap, Byteball with 10% distributed coins ranked at #56:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/byteball/

If all 100% coins are counted, it will be at #15, very good for a new coin like byteball.
True, I was thinking about it.
If all coins were distributed, that would put the cryptocurrency between Dogecoin and Waves at the present time.

Won't increasing available supply tenfold increase sell pressure as well? I hope it won't repeat Decred scenario.

This will tank anyway. It wont hold at this level, mark my word. Id rather invest in a stock options that expire within 24 hours than put my money in a dangerous unproven junk with limited liquidity and no support from institutional backers like myself.

Pardon my English, what "institutional" should mean above? Google translates it as "unappealing or unimaginative".

He just pretend to be a big institution... possible he should be called "individual backer" but people want make themselves important, right? A newbie can be ignored, lol.

This can happen if there is no increase in demand. However, I think we have different scenarios. Decred uses POW + POS. Byteball uses DAG, something relatively new and completely different. The tech can play an important role in this.

I never got Byteballs during the distribution which truly sucked. And now I just noticed that the Bitcoins that I sent to get Byteball are still unconfirmed. Would it be possible that I will still get Byteballs if they go through, or am I completely screwed?

If your tx isn't in the xmas block, then you haven't made it. To be sure please look up your address(es) here: http://transition.byteball.org

But don't be sad, there will be several more rounds of distribution. The next one mid february, you can already link your bitcoin addresses to your Byteball wallet.

Is there a roadmap for all the snapshots? I need to do some financial management to get the best distribution and I need to feed my dog too.  Cheesy

Specific dates are not set in stone, but mid-february will roughly be the next distro target. Stock up on dog food now and you'll be golden Wink

FYI:

There is a slack channel #trading for Bytes and #trading_blackbytes for Blackbytes, please go there if you want to buy, sell, exchange Bytes and Blackbytes or want to speculate about the price!  Grin

There's also an automated order book at #book (Bytes asks and bids only):

ASK <BTC> <GB>
BID <BTC> <GB>
REMOVE ASK
REMOVE BID

Little guide for Byteball trading

This slack channel is for discussing Byteball trading and for organizing such trades. Please be aware that at the moment, the only way to trade safely is through a reputable escrow middleman! Even if you think you know the guy who you want to trade with, you should better trade through an escrow! We've already seen lots of scammers who try to impersonate well-known community members. So proceed with due diligence and always make sure that you are dealing with the right person, especially your escrow middleman. Only use registered escrow services and compare the usernames and bitcoin addresses carefully before you send someone your precious coins!

Registered escrow services:

@yassinnxt
Registered escrow bitcoin address: 153tSmxbKfby652LUyYdYEZhoxY9RzHYrz
Fee: 1% in BTC (from Byteball buyer)
(approx. 2700 BTC escrowed so far)

@seccour
Registered escrow bitcoin address: 1Hx3kxKbYyNgGyqzLB5Qw8BA8dZbuu1Xjn
Fee: none (tips accepted)
(over 500 BTC escrowed so far)

@martis
Registered escrow bitcoin address: 1pMPHbinYokoXEDav5J3tkto14rxBSwx9
Fee: 1% in BTC (split 50/50 between buyer and seller)

what a completely unfair distribution.. its going to be a dump fest from now till next distribution.. and then after a fresh batch of people get distrubted another 50%.. another dump fest.. best time to buy would be around march. but even then still another 9x the current amount to be distributed.

You will laugh. Its not the case, or was the first distribution a dump fest? Wink
