Sorry if this sounds lame (I admit I didn't read the whole whitepaper Grin), but is there any way to see in block explorer or anywhere else, the date/time when a transaction is actually made!?  Huh

Look in the wallet at the "History" tab, then click on a tx to see the details.

Ok, thanks. But I meant the transactions made by others (not from/to my wallet) Smiley
Is there any way to see the timestamps on them?

There are no timestamps in Byteball protocol, they are just not needed.  That's why there are no reliable timestamps.  The ones you see in History tab are the times and dates when your wallet first learnt about the transaction (or, if you are on light wallet, when the light vendor first learnt about the tx).

This is what I actually supposed. Thanks for confirming that, tonich!
But don't you think such timestamps could be useful for some of the applications of Byteball? I understand they are not needed by protocol, but it could be useful to add them as an comment or "additional info", so it could be easier to trace transactions or analyze the chain. Simple example - I was trying to see when an amount was transferred to some address (some minutes ago or few days ago), and I found no way of using that! This is great for making things more obscure, but I suppose that is not something we want to achieve with Byteball...?

Applications are supposed to use timestamps posted by oracles they trust.  There is already one timestamping oracle, its address is I2ADHGP4HL6J37NQAD73J7E5SKFIXJOT and this is one of its recent timestamps https://explorer.byteball.org/#vcwDbSwjOH4h0wdW5M51N92+ivdm8zgBArrdeSHDz5k=.  A similar timestamping oracle on testnet is already referenced from smart contracts of our trustless exchange.

However, choosing which timestamping oracle to trust is entirely up the application, there is no single "official" timestamp.  The best we could do to address the issue you describe above, is showing when a transaction was received by the explorer node.  It's only that - when the tx was received.  If we restart the explorer from scratch, all past transactions will be received within 1-2 hours after it is restarted and these timestamps won't be very useful.

Simplicity is beauty

I have a question I linked one of my btc add to the byteball android app than I linked my other one to the linux wallet how long does it take for them two show up on http://transition.byteball.org/  thanks

Currently, that page is frozen with the balances and linked addresses used for the first round, so for now it is not getting updated. I think it might be the time to unfreeze it and/or maybe keep that state in a separate page: transition.byteball.org/firstround.html for instance, and update the main page with the current links.
That would be good I was going crazy thinking it was just me thanks for the update

Since the Page is terminated or taken down free BALL donations will stop. I hope that Page will never get back, even if it does I will launch a DDOS attack against it.

The free distribution already started, the first round was in December, the second round is in the middle of February? For the second round you get free byteballs for byteballs you already hold, and bitcoins you link. You should buy some byteballs before the middle of February to get some free byteballs from the free distribution, or link some bitcoins.

Hi! New here and been trying to read through the chain but taking its time, very interesting and love to get involved. I was wondering if I missed linking my Bitcoin for the first round is it too late to link it now? Secondly what's the easiest way to link if I'm using Jaxx? I'm guessing I'll need to transfer all coins to a single address as I don't see it working otherwise? Anyone else have similar problems? Thanks!

Consider buying GB from cryptox.pl then second round will give you 10% per each GB you have. If you have 1BTC you get 62.5Mb. Price was about 0,025btv/GB so now buying GBs with BTC will give you more in second round.

I linked BTC in first round, got GBs, then sold BTCs to aquire more GBs.

It's not too late, you can link now for the second and upcoming rounds.

Secondly what's the easiest way to link if I'm using Jaxx?

Don't know much about Jaxx, I assume you can't sign a message, so sending a micropayment would be the easiest.

I'm guessing I'll need to transfer all coins to a single address as I don't see it working otherwise? Anyone else have similar problems? Thanks!

You can link as many addresses as you want. Depending on what's the less costly for you, either link all your addresses or transfer all your funds to one Bitcoin address that you linked/will link. By the way, the funds should be there the day of the snapshot (meaning you are not obliged to transfer now).

Anyone else have similar problems?

What problems Smiley?

Thanks!

You are welcome.

Do all existing byteball addresses will be granted bytes in the second round or we have to register them somewhere?

All bytes in your wallet at time of the snapshot will receive new bytes and blackbytes, you don't need to register them. Registering is only for linking BTC addresses.

Yes. If you're not sure if you have balance on those linked addresses, talk again with the transition bot in the wallet. It will tell you all linked addresses with their balances.

You can also check http://transition.byteball.org. It is now up-to-date and contains the linked addresses concerning the next (ie second) round. (If you or anyone missed it, data about the first round is now persisted here http://transition.byteball.org/firstround.html.)

But wait you are the main person on this thread who wanted it done this way. I remember you defending this terrible method of distribution more than anyone else.

Why complain now?

It's too late and you realise the BB you got was laughable crumbs of crumbs of crumbs and the whales just got the whale shares like was supposed to happen.

Perhaps if you all  convince tony to block those wallets on the next phases it will help slightly balance it out. I'm sure even those ICO whales wont dare moan they had their noses in the trough the first round and got enough for free.
