Just curious to see what the status of orders are:

1) The people claiming they've received Batch 2 Avalons - When did you place your orders?

2) Are there still a lot of people with order status: Processing?  My order has been on that since February 18th when I ordered it, curious how far back the orders go with that same status.

Ordered mine on 2nd Feb, still have nothing showing up on my order page.

So much for special people getting theirs early. My mum said I was special, but no early Avalon.

I placed my order on the morning of Feb 2, 2013 and paid ~12 hours later on pure faith that everything would work out by digging through my history to find the portal token and utilizing that to finish payment.  Some things to note though:  I confirmed all details with walletbit, then created a ticket with all pertinent information in the Avalon support system.  I never received any response to my tickets, but I did receive a confirmation e-mail from the Avalon team regarding my order which matched all my details.  Otherwise I opened one other ticket as per the request of Bitsyncom re: not having my order showing in the store.  I did not receive any response to that ticket either.  Through a rough analysis I estimate my payment was the ~34th unit paid.

Personally I think there is some selective practices going on behind the scenes to determine the order in which the units were shipped, however I'll fore go posting the details that I assume to have been at play in this.

I saw a message. "We've delivered your order"

Then.. reality sunk in. I felt like I got slow rolled.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I think that noone here said it was a bs... If you need money fast your best option is to sell shares of the Avalon and cash out (maybe 100-125btc). If you wait until it arrives, you can sell it for 150-200, I guess.

I personally have no faith in the roi of these units, I'm not sure about anything anymore... I can only hope that when Avalon decided to delay to mine themselves they somewhat knew what would happen to the difficulty, I hope that they have some model, that they have insider info from bfl/helveticminer/100th and that somehow in that model the roi of these units is positive. This is my only hope.

What evidence do you have that they mined with these machines?

There is no evidence.  The dust and delay definitely makes me wonder, but the cynical bastards are just yelling something about the sky falling.

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

I have my suspicions that this is fairly close to the truth.

Just a quick word on the politics and definition of bitcoins. I believe it would be very wise not to call bitcoin a currency. Bitcoin is a token. You buy this token with currency and in the end it is sold back for currency. It cannot exist without a currency behind it so it is not a currency per se. I think it would be very wise to start thinking of BTC as a TOKEN. Just my 0.02 tokens Smiley

wrong thread, brah

I wouldn't get too paranoid about them selectively shipping stuff. I'm sure shipping stuff from 'some place in China' is highly variable thing. Two packages beside each other in shipping could end up in completely different parts of your country in their big circuitous world tour getting to you.

Or maybe the old smt line is busy?

I don't think that there is an old SMT line.
I guess production was outsourced so far, that's common and doesn't make too much trouble.
So whats the problem with using the old outsourced smt line after 2 months of delays?

The production line being first priority, delivering second?
After 2 months of delay where their customers lost 200+btc per Avalon?
And how does that sums with them not wanting to sell a batch 4? You don't need the smt line for selling chips.

Come on guys... Get real. This is worse than BFL.

Worse than BFL?  I challenge you to back up your statement.  Exactly why is a 1-2 month delay worse than BFL?

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

BFL isn't shipping becuase they can't. It's shear incompetence.

Avalon hasn't been shipping becuase they can. They are taking advantage of a monopoly and more power to them to a point, but they need to take care of their customers.

I got 2 units.  one was black and that must be the "newer" version.  It had that extra piece of metal in there for the air flow.  I rebooted it an it worked for a couple hours but then it happened again.  Rebooted and it is working again.

The other silver unit is the older version and does not have the metal piece inside or the green and yellow lights on the front  That one has the "Temp 2 =-1" issue and the fans seem to running too fast.  That is hashing at 54 Ghs.

Both say firmware 20130419

I am confused about the firmware.  It talks about firmware and it talks about upgrading the miner to 3.1.1.  Are those 2 different things?  They both say I am running cgminer 2.11.4

I downloaded openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory.bin.  I installed that on the older silver unit and it didn't seem to do anything and it still says firmware 20130419 and cgminer 2.11.4 and the fans are revving high.

I am doing something wrong with the firmware updates.

What were your order numbers?

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

Yifu,

If you want to go into the ASIC business, purely, why are you tooling up an SMT line on your own? Why not just use a CM?

I got the feeling from his speech that he finds this whole building of ASIC miners an annoyance, not something he considers as a core concern. If I were him and thought that way, I surely wouldn't broadcast it until my obligations were well on their way to being met...

reposting: from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=146451.msg2229451#msg2229451

Received my Batch #2 avalons today (3 modules).
Thank you Yifu, ngzhang, xiangfu and the Avalon Team.

Since I was part of the early 20, I hope this reaches Yifu and his team.

Shipping: 1 week via DHL
Duty/Custom Fees: I had to pay $250 for 3 units, location Canada.
Packaging: No damage to boxes. Styrofoam holders on the inside with bubble wrap around the machines.
Additional items: No antennas, no power cable
ASICs: Very clean, very nice finish.
Startup: Very impressed with the GUI, got them up and running within minutes. Firmware loaded was 20130419.
-change your pc ip to 192.168.0.101, plug in ethernet, plug in power cable, turn on unit, go to 192.168.0.100, login, under network settings change the ip so it's in the same subnet as your network.
-plug into network, change cgminer info with yours, start mining.
Sound: Honestly it's not as loud as I was expecting.
Visuals: 2 LED's on the front. Green is lit when hashing, Orange and Green indicators when it's reset/not hashing?
Hashrate: Relatively stable @ 66-68Gh/s. Seems like one machine resets every 45-1h.

11/10 for Avalon.

some scammer is already using your pictures at ebay lol
