The problem is the 5v line to the Pi through the bridgeboard is not fused. So when you hook up a 1,000 watt supply to run it and the Pi shorts the supply will happily pump 1000 watts into the short before shutting down. The 24 gauge bridgeboard trace will then blow as a fuse. A 2 amp supply would just crowbar.

Work?

Probably. I've often wondered if it is possible to back-power the Pi through the USB port on the side. Give it a shot, see if it works.

I can confirm that it is possible to power the Pi and control board for a Titan using a Micro USB plugged into the micro usb power port of the Pi. The screen on control board lights up and functions normally and the lights sequence on boot normally.

I have do not know what the power load is or why it works with no 12 volt. It can also mine, at least this is confirmed that it can mine with 2 cubes attached.

This was accidentally  discovered by someone that I just sold a Titan to and He has run miners with a Pi in the past and he has always had to hook up power to the Pi and did so with the Titan.

Just don't also power the control board with the molex.

the question would be if this works why does the control board need 12 volts?

If it is confirmed that the control board does need 12 volts would you be able to provide the 12 volt power to the control board using the molex with the red wire and pin removed and just use a server PSU to power the Titan cubes and control board, and the micro usb powering the Pi with the 5 volt?

That is hella weird.... LOL! lightfoot may know answer, if the controllerboard only uses 5v or not =P
If the controller board worked w/ only micro usb, that means it barely uses any power hrm.... since most micro usb adapters are like 1-2A max

Quick update ... the 3amp buck converter works great for converting 12v from server PSU to 5v + 12v molex for controller board =)
Been running a few hours now =)

Using this one:

You cant mine directly to a coin client with the titan, you need to make some sort of a pool. Alternatively you can use solo.nicehash.com or some other pool who offers solo mining.

Thanks for your answer. Is it hard to make my own pool ? It's so esay with a graphic card to solo mine, i don't understand why it's so hard with an asic. Undecided

It's not the ASIC per se, you just have to log into the Rpi (or BBB if you are running my more cool code) and set up bfgminer.conf manually. You know how to do it on GPUs, do the same thing at the command line and fire it up.

It's just bfgminer.

What algorithm does your miner support? I'm looking for asic miner that can hash X11 and cryptonight. Is this possible with your miner hw?

Also do you deliver to Denmark ?

You DO know that the KnC Titan miners have been out of production for a few years and KnC itself imploded right?

KNC died a while back, though someone bought out the name and probably some of their assets and has announced plans to build future miners under the KNC name (BAD idea IMO, KNC has a HORRIBLE rep in the cryptomining field, probably the WORST rep of any company that ever managed to deliver hardware at all).

No ASIC-based miner supports the Cryptonight algo (I won't be shocked if SOMEONE eventually comes up with one).

X11, right now, your options are Baikal, IBeLink, Bitmain, and Innosilicon - but the latter 3 are "sold out" at this time and Baikal has spent a lot of the last few months also sold out AND has a horrible interface to try to order their miners (the miners themselves seem to be rock-solid reliable though once folks manage to get ahold of them).

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

I'll give it a shot when I get back to the office after Defcon (speaking of which I am bringing the bag of tricks and might be giving a talk at the Hardware Hacking Village on how to hack miners). It's possible KNC didn't compile in support for solo mining on the Pi version, but I believe I included it on the BeagleBone version.

Not too big a deal; I run a full Litecoin node alongside a bitcoin node so it should be simple to test.

This is my  manual conf in the KNC titan : http://192.x.x.x with my username and the password who are in mine conf wallet of the altcoin. With cgminer on my computer it works, no problem i can solo mine but bfgminer of the ASIC don't run. I forget probably something in the manual conf but what ?  If someone solomine with this asic, could you watch me your config ? Thanks and sorry because it's probably nothing but i don' t now what...

You're using :8332 on that URL, right? As I said, I'll take a look at this next week when I get back from DefCon, not too interested in logging into my central network systems from a very compromised city....
