'qberty' put wrong crystals so Lightfoot can't fix that.

Put him a negative trust, if it makes you feel better.

I lost 2 BTC with him, becoming 10 not working product.

Mistakes  happen. I still believe that it is repairable.

Thanks Tupsu but you can not find this crystal in the market, that's why I asked a picture of the batch 1 qberty's bridge maybe we have chances to find it somewhere....
'qberty' any chance to help us to fix your mess ?

Big problem I have in life is trying to figure out what the components on these boards *are*. I can make assumptions based on signal input/output, size, and overall position in the communications chain (for example the U204 components at the top left of the board. They are signal level converters, but finding them with a 3 character ID is a damn bitch). Likewise the crystals, the numbers on them don't seem to make much sense.

Anyone got good pointers to identifying these various components? I've pretty much fuzzed out the board, so we don't need the schematic so much as the bill of parts.

says "24.576" on all 3 boards -- which is a 24.576 MHz crystal oscillator(thx google)  -- maybe it's just a bad batch of chips or bad soldering on this latest board -- maybe try soldering a different 24.576 chip and get lucky. Just a thought ... probably more to it than that

I just checked my board and it doesn't work either, so I guess we're all in the same boat

I also just checked my Neptune board and that did work as a titan controller, now back to needing another bridge board

Is that from a real KNC bridgeboard?

yes, it's real real small, needed 2 pairs of glasses, to double magnify it --  and it's on qberty b1 and b2

Hm. Is qberty2 possibly cold-soldered?

I can probably get an electronics shop around here to look at it, if the crystal is bad or cold solder it should be pretty easy to fix

thank you..I've been trying to figure out how to have the local Electronic Engineering Univ club look at it w/o looking like an 'electronic stalker'

pssst...hey baby want to look and heat up the cold solder on my knc asic titan bridge...I come across as a 'cheap' nerd and really don't have an angle

on what would be a fair price to offer to fix this ...pizza and beer to the EE club probably would not do it.....and I'd probably have to float it by

the faculty......doubtful....others around here don't have the skills ..that is one damn small chip etc

Again would like to find the larger grandfather of those chips before shrunk down to that size..and just do a rough protoboard with leads for 30-40 bucks
plus these larger cousins......but again the skill level and time ....just don't see it

let us know how it goes....I'll see if I can find someone to at least feel out on this at the local university (more weird looks in my life...great)

Here you go searing, give it a try -- apparently the orientation(polarity) of the crystal doesn't matter -- but careful with that little SMD capacitor(C13) right next to it, don't want it to come loose too.

You first Smiley Also where the heck does one get the proper crystal....or did you find it was a cold solder issue?

I imagine any old off the shelf surface mount 24.576 MHz crystal oscillator will work, but I dunno for sure. The soldering on mine looks good to me, so not too sure it's a cold solder issue but can't really see the backside of it to tell

qberty when are you going to do batch 3?
